Chapter 72 Saskia Defends Victoria
With a barely perceptible wave of her right hand, Victoria sent Neil tumbling into the lotus pond. It was creepy and shocking.
Everyone was stunned.
Marcus couldn't believe what he saw. Did Victoria really have such quick and strange skills?
He quickly felt admiration for her.
Victoria didn't want to make a big scene, so she chose this quick move. It was efficient and taught Neil a lesson. After all, this was Howard Villa, and she wasn't planning to get physical. The bet was just an excuse.
Samantha, standing closest, was completely confused. What just happened? How did Neil end up in the pond?
Everyone was in shock. Neil, a confident black belt seventh dan, had ended up in the water in less than a minute. It was a disaster.
The incident happened so fast that everyone forgot to help Neil out of the water.
By the time they reacted, he had swallowed several mouthfuls of water.
Who knew he couldn't swim?
Soon, someone alerted the elders, and a crowd gathered at the viewing platform.
Servants rescued Neil, who sat on the ground soaking wet, with algae in his hair. He, who always cared about his appearance, looked ridiculous and embarrassed.
Victoria stood tall and indifferent, like a proud queen.
Lester and Celine Jenkins were distressed seeing Neil in such a state, especially his mother, Celine. She ran over, squatted beside him, and shouted, "Who did this to my son?"
Neil, with a broken wrist and having swallowed water, was too dizzy to respond.
The others exchanged glances. Though they didn't like Neil's arrogance, they knew the situation was serious. Victoria, an outsider, couldn't outweigh Lester and the others. Neil, though illegitimate, was Lester's favorite.
Lester also shouted, "Who dares do this to my son? Show yourself!" He was furious, scanning the crowd.
Victoria stepped forward, looking at Lester coldly. "I did," she said slowly.
Her words were arrogant and lofty.
The younger ones were surprised she admitted it so openly.
The elders were also shocked by her boldness in the Howard family.
Preston and Saskia had just arrived and heard her. They stayed quiet, listening.
Victoria's arrogance angered Celine, who was heartbroken for Neil. She cursed at Victoria, "Bitch, how dare you? Are you asking for trouble?"
"You, an outsider, dare to hit my son? I'll run you out of Ridgewood! You'll regret it."
Victoria didn't even blink at Celine's threats.
Samantha, standing next to her, indignantly explained, "Neil teased Victoria first."
Everyone was slightly stunned, then understood. Neil's indulgence was well-known, and Victoria was beautiful. It wasn't surprising he took a liking to her. They just didn't expect him to harass someone Alexander brought.
Saskia looked disgusted in the crowd. She couldn't believe Neil had the nerve to harass Victoria!
Lester and Celine were also upset, but they defended their son.
"Who’s to say you didn’t seduce Neil? With your looks, you probably did! Shameless!" Celine snapped. "The Howard family isn't for someone like you!"
Victoria stayed calm, lazily lifting her eyes to Celine. "You don’t get to decide my place," she sneered. "At least I entered the Howard family openly, unlike you, who started as a mistress and ended up a wife."
Celine was speechless.
No one expected Victoria to mock Celine so openly.
Celine wasn't Lester's first wife but his third, having been his mistress. Everyone knew Celine had forced Lester's previous wife to divorce him.
"How dare you! You haven't even married Alexander yet, and you're already so arrogant! You're not fit to be the Howard family's leader's wife!" Lester fumed, his face red with anger.
Saskia, holding Preston's hand, whispered, "Victoria is no worse than I was back then."
Preston smiled affectionately, "She might even be better."
Celine, furious, demanded, "Kneel and apologize to Neil now, or you won't be leaving Howard Villa in one piece tonight!"
Victoria replied coolly, "Whether I'm qualified or not isn't up to you." She sneered at Celine, "Kneel? Are you sure Neil can handle that?"
Her eyes flashed coldly. "I only broke his wrist tonight, showing mercy. Otherwise, he'd be in the emergency room!"
She stood like a queen, exuding a powerful aura that made everyone tremble, as if they were facing Alexander.
Lester, trying to match her intensity, shouted, "You're too arrogant and self-righteous, unrepentant even after doing wrong!"
Celine, realizing Neil's wrist was broken, reddened with pain and resentment. "You bitch, you deserve to die for what you did to Neil. If anything happens to him, I..."
"What will you do?" Saskia couldn't take it anymore. She stepped forward, glaring at Celine. "How dare you call Victoria a bitch? Would Victoria leave my handsome and excellent son for yours? I think not!"
Celine's face stiffened when she saw it was Saskia. She was speechless.
"Lester, have you forgotten what Alexander said at dinner tonight?" Saskia turned her cold eyes to Lester.
Saskia's reminder made Lester stiffen, frowning deeply.
Those who didn't know were confused, while those who did were silently processing.
