Chapter 251 Am I That Perverted?

Owen grabbed Lila's slender wrist. "Quit messing around, I'm being serious here."

"I'm serious, too," Lila shot back. "Why do you think I'm pregnant? Just making stuff up?"

Owen's eyes twitched, and he pursed his lips. "I saw the pregnancy tests in the bathroom."

"Bathroom? Pregnancy tests?" Lila stretched out her words. "It's not mine. I'm only twenty-four, still enjoying my freedom. No way I'm having kids this early."

Owen's mood crashed like a roller coaster. 'Not hers? She's not pregnant.'

Even though she said it herself, he still felt a bit off. He'd always hoped she'd get pregnant, but she was too committed to contraception.

Owen pressed his lips together and asked, "Then whose is it? Who's been here?"

Lila just shrugged and said, "Victoria and Marlowe have been here."

Owen looked surprised. "Marlowe's pregnant?"

Lila crossed her arms, tilted her head, and raised an eyebrow. "Did you put cameras in my bathroom?"

Owen's temple twitched. "Am I that creepy?"

Lila gave him a look that said, "You tell me. Why guess Marlowe and not Victoria? Victoria's with Alexander every night."

Owen didn't answer her question. "Can't I guess? If I say Marlowe, your reaction will tell me if I'm right. If not, then it's obvious."

Lila went quiet. What Owen said made some sense, but he was still acting weird. Suspicion crept into her eyes. "Are you hiding something from me?"

"No." Owen quickly changed the subject. "Does Grant know?"

Though disappointed Lila wasn't pregnant, he had to steer the conversation away.

Lila remembered Marlowe's request to keep it a secret. But Owen and Grant were tight.

Before Owen could react, Lila clung to him like an octopus, jumping up and hugging his neck. He instinctively supported her hips to keep her from falling.

Owen teased, "What's up? Why so clingy all of a sudden?"

He squinted at her charming face, smiling slightly.

Lila hugged his neck tight, leaned back a bit, and put on a serious face. "You can't tell Grant about this."

Owen raised an eyebrow. "Why?"

Lila trusted Owen more, so she didn't hide it. He was a skilled doctor, after all. If Marlowe had any issues, he could help.

Marlowe considering an abortion caught Owen off guard. Everyone knew Marlowe loved Grant. After five years, she was finally pregnant; she should be happy, right? But according to Lila, it was the opposite.

Lila told Owen what Marlowe had said and what Grant had said.

Owen was taken by surprise.

Lila rolled her eyes. "Grant's awful, isn't he? Like people are dying to have his baby."

Owen replied, "Actually, a lot of people do want to have his baby."

Lila's mouth twitched.

Owen wasn't wrong. Grant had it all—looks, money, status, power. Who wouldn't want it?

Owen didn't want to keep talking about it. A sly smile curved his lips. "If you want me to keep this secret, there has to be a trade. Grant's my good friend. I shouldn't hide this from him."

Lila knew Owen wouldn't agree so easily.
