Chapter 292 The Clever Victoria
In the quiet office, Christopher's voice broke the silence.
"Victoria, my condition is that someone spends the night with me," he said, giving her a suggestive look.
Gideon felt a sudden chill.
Christopher really had the guts; he was always testing Alexander's patience.
But Victoria didn't seem fazed. She just smiled and asked, "Are you sure?"
Christopher's eyes lit up. She didn't say no; she might even be willing.
So, Alexander wasn't that important to her after all;only close family members truly mattered.
He raised an eyebrow, thinking he looked pretty suave. He was about to speak when Victoria cut him off, almost like she was worried he'd back out and not give her the info.
"Alright, I agree. I promise you'll be satisfied," she said with a knowing smile, extending her hand. "Christopher, hand over the information."
Christopher didn't expect her to agree so quickly.
Neither did Clara. She sneered inwardly.
Now she was more convinced that Victoria was a shameless bitch. 'Perfect, I can use this against her. Let's see if the Howard family will still accept her then,' Clara thought smugly.
As soon as Victoria got the information, Christopher shamelessly said, "How about tonight?"
She hesitated and said, "Tonight? I need to call and see if they're available."
Christopher frowned and squinted, asking, "What do you mean?"
Victoria replied, "Of course, I'm arranging someone to spend the night with you."
Christopher asked, "What do you mean? Arranging someone? I want you to spend the night with me!"
Victoria suddenly seemed to realize. "Me?" she repeated, pointing to herself. "Christopher, I'm a married woman. Besides, I never agreed to that."
Christopher was furious.
He felt he had been played. "Didn't you just..."
Before he could finish, Victoria interrupted him, "I never agreed. I only agreed to arrange someone for you." She then changed her tone, "Besides, you never specified that the person had to be me."
She patiently repeated his words and analyzed them seriously.
She said, ""You just mentioned that you wanted someone to spend a night making love with you. You didn't specify it was me. Think about it yourself, am I right? Besides, you're from the Howard family. Even if you're not on the same level as Alexander, you should still embody the noble qualities inherent to the Howard lineage. You can't possibly be so depraved as to harass your cousin's wife. I can't think of you as such a despicable person because that would go against basic human decency. Moreover, the Howard family is known for its strict traditions, especially regarding the upright character of its members. As your cousin's wife, it's my duty to stop you from doing something wrong. Otherwise, if you were punished according to family rules, that wouldn't be good."
A strange atmosphere filled the air, and everyone was stunned by Victoria's words.
As soon as Victoria finished speaking, Gideon couldn't help but laugh.
Who could have seen this twist coming?
Christopher never thought Victoria would play dumb to his hints and still manage to criticize and lecture him seriously.
She used the Howard family rules to trap him, leaving him no choice but to back down.
If he admitted to having lewd intentions towards Victoria, he'd be admitting to being a depraved and immoral person. If Nathan or Alexander found out, it wouldn't be easy to explain.
Christopher never expected her to bring up the Howard family.
"Are you messing with me?" Christopher growled through gritted teeth.
Facing his suddenly darkened face, Victoria nonchalantly replied, "How can you say that? At most, it's just that we're on different levels and understand things differently."
The next second, she feigned surprise and said, "You wouldn't really have any improper intentions towards me, would you?"
Christopher wasn't stupid; he understood Victoria's indirect scolding.
His face darkened. If he got angry, he would fall into her trap.
He burst into laughter, but the eerie atmosphere didn't go away.
Although he was smiling, his eyes still held a sinister look.
He spoke in a joking tone, "No wonder Alexander likes you; you're extraordinary and can resist temptation. I was just joking with you."
The implication was that he was testing her for Alexander.
She didn't believe him at all, but she didn't bother to expose him.
'Who cares about him testing me with such disgusting means? All those Howard family branch members are equally repulsive. Neil is like this, and so is Christopher,' Victoria mocked in her heart.
She then smiled faintly, "I knew it, you're a good person with excellent character. It seems I wasn't wrong. Don't worry, I'll put in a good word for you with Alexander."
She said this to avoid conflict.
After all, she had promised Alexander not to fight. If it were in the past, Christopher would have already been on the ground.
Before meeting Alexander, she would always choose action over words when dealing with people like this. After meeting Alexander, she preferred to resolve things with words instead of violence.
Christopher's mouth twitched slightly. No one had ever called him a good person.
Victoria didn't care what he was thinking.
Seeing that it was about time, she spoke again, "Since you're done, I'll be leaving. As for the person you mentioned, I'll arrange it and have them find you later."
She turned to leave, but suddenly, a dozen men in black appeared out of nowhere.
She didn't panic but glanced at them and turned back to Christopher.
She raised an eyebrow, still calm and composed. "What's this? If you want to invite me to dinner, there's no need for such a big show, right?"
Clara had been watching Victoria. She had seen Victoria and Oliver's bodyguards fight before and knew Victoria was skilled in combat. But with so many people here, Victoria might not win this time.
Christopher kept smiling and said, "I invited you here today to discuss a business deal."
He suddenly changed his mind. He thought she was smart and knew how to make choices to protect herself.
Even if she liked Alexander, when it came to her life, she must choose herself.
