Chapter 208 Let It Be

Today was the 25th, the day for the monthly dinner at the Howard Villa.

Victoria wrestled with herself for a bit but finally dragged herself out of bed.

Alexander had already laid out her clothes, all ready for her to change into.

The room was warm, but she still felt a chill.

By the time she was done with her morning routine and breakfast, it was already past ten.

It took about an hour to get from Serenity Grove Manor to the Howard Villa, so they'd get there just in time for lunch.

The Howard Villa.

Landon got back a bit earlier than them, driving himself.

As soon as he walked in, Saskia started grilling him with questions.

"Harmonious, very harmonious, everything's harmonious," he mumbled while munching on some fruit the staff had set out.

Saskia didn't hesitate to slap him, glaring and saying coldly, "Be serious."

Seeing her stern face, Landon straightened up immediately.

It was instinct; he feared nothing but Saskia's stern face.

"Mom, I was only there for two days. That's all I know," he said, feeling helpless.

He couldn't keep tabs on everything all the time.

If he did, Alexander would probably kill him.

"Then tell me, can I have my grandchildren this year?" Saskia, realizing she was being tough on him, switched up her question.

Landon's mouth twitched.

This question was even harder for him.

He looked at Saskia seriously and asked, "Mom, everyone else only cares about money. Why do you only care about having grandchildren?"

Saskia never held back when hitting him and had made it a habit, like she couldn't go a day without it.

So, she raised her hand and gave him another slap on the back of his head.

"Ouch, Mom, can't you stop hitting me?" Landon said, holding the back of his head.

She really hit him.

Saskia said, "Can't I hit you?"

Landon was speechless.

"I don't need to care about money in this life; I just want grandchildren," Saskia said.

Then he heard her say, "If Victoria doesn't get pregnant this year, you should cherish your free time now. After Christmas, I'll set you up on blind dates every day."

Landon was dumbfounded. Could she really do that? What did this have to do with him?

"Mom, what does Victoria getting pregnant have to do with me? You should talk to Alexander. Isn't it Alexander who has to put in the effort? I can't do anything about it. At most, I can stand by and cheer them on," Landon said a lot, and when he looked up, he saw Alexander and Victoria standing at the door.

Seeing Alexander's sour face, Landon felt like he was about to get sentenced to hard labor.

Victoria, on the other hand, was so embarrassed she didn't know where to look.

Hearing the ruckus, Saskia turned her head, looked a bit surprised, then immediately plastered on a warm, loving smile. "Victoria, you're back! Come on, sit down and relax. I'll get the kitchen to whip up some soup for you."

She totally ignored Alexander's grumpy face and gracefully headed to the kitchen.

Victoria didn't even get a chance to say anything.

Landon had to give it to Saskia for her quick thinking.

In the living room, Alexander sat on the sofa with his legs crossed, radiating authority.

Landon sat next to him, munching on fruit with a forced smile.

Saskia found an excuse to hide in the kitchen, leaving Landon to deal with the awkwardness alone.

Victoria hadn't expected to walk in on Saskia and Landon talking about her pregnancy.

She didn't mind, but it was kinda awkward.

She wasn't against having kids; she wasn't one of those who didn't want any. Since they started getting it on, they hadn't really tried to have a baby or avoid it.

She figured it would just happen when it happened.

She hadn't expected Saskia to be so invested in whether she was pregnant. Seeing her earlier, she probably felt awkward pushing her, and Victoria got why Saskia wanted to be a grandma so bad.

Seeing Alexander's gloomy face, she wondered if he didn't want her to get pregnant.

But he had said before that he wanted her to have his kids.

She scooted closer to him and asked softly, "What's wrong? You upset?"

The living room was super quiet, so even her soft voice was clear.

Landon had just wanted to sneak a glance but immediately looked down when he caught Alexander's sharp gaze.

Facing her delicate and charming face, Alexander's expression softened instantly. "Nothing."

She replied, "I thought you were upset about what Mom said earlier. It's normal for her to want us to have a kid soon since we're already married."

Alexander responded, but she could tell he was just going through the motions.

Victoria was quiet for a few seconds before saying, "Didn't you say before that you wanted kids?"

A strange look flashed quickly in Alexander's eyes. After a moment of thinking, he said, "Let's just let it happen naturally."
