Chapter 121 Oliver's Anger
After breakfast, they all went their separate ways.
Victoria and Lila headed back to Rihegde and dove straight into work.
Victoria seemed more distracted after their Jacksonville trip.
At the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Adrian returned to the company after talking with Victoria and only visited the hospital in the afternoon.
He hadn't expected Anthony's mess to lead him to Esme's daughter and find out Esme had passed away. His emotions were all over the place.
In the hospital room, Rebecca asked Adrian, "Did you find out who hurt Anthony?"
"Yes, I did," Adrian replied.
"Did you deal with them? Anyone who hurts Anthony must pay," she pressed.
Anthony, lying in bed, rolled his eyes, waiting for Adrian's answer.
Adrian felt disappointed. Rebecca had always been arrogant, and marriage only made it worse. She never saw her own faults, which made Anthony just as arrogant. Adrian didn't trust Anthony with the Barnes family.
Adrian and Rebecca's marriage was one of convience.
Adrian simply said, "It's handled. I'm going on a business trip to Rihegde the day after tomorrow. Take care of Anthony," and left.
That night, the Kennedy family in Rihegde got news from Jacksonville.
"That idiot! How dare she cause such a mess!" Oliver yelled, slamming his hand on the coffee table.
Elodie and Clara jumped at his outburst.
Oliver was furious. Victoria had seriously injured Anthony from the Barnes family, and now he was in the ICU. The Barnes family blamed the Kennedys and were looking for payback.
The Barnes family was much stronger than the Kennedys. If a conflict arose, the Kennedys would lose.
Oliver wasn't going to take the blame for Victoria's actions.
"Dad, what do we do? The Barnes family is powerful and has political backing," Simon said, worried.
Clara, secretly pleased, thought Victoria was doomed but kept up her kind facade. "Grandpa, Dad, Victoria is family. We can't abandon her. She needs us now."
Oliver sneered, "She doesn't deserve to be part of this family, and we can't let her drag us down!"
Thinking of all the trouble she'd caused, he was furious.
Elodie calmly suggested, "Dad, let's cut her loose. That way, the Barnes family won't blame us."
"Mom, are you suggesting we kick Victoria out? How can we do that?" Clara pretended to be shocked.
Oliver and Simon looked thoughtful, considering the idea.
Clara, trying to seem supportive, said, "Grandpa, Dad, my mom is just talking. There must be another way. If we do this, Victoria will hate us more. If all else fails, I'll ask Lucas for help."
"What's the use of asking the Tudor family? They won't offend the Barnes family. The Barnes are powerful and everyone wants to be on their good side. Victoria didn't just hit anyone; she hit the Barnes heir," Elodie pointed out.
Oliver and Simon started to waver.
