Chapter 332 Speak Plainly

"Victoria? Victoria?" Alexander called out her name twice.

Victoria finally heard that familiar voice and snapped back to reality, seeing that familiar face. She parted her dry lips, her voice so raspy it barely sounded like her own. "Alexander."

Alexander stared at her, eyes wide open. When he heard her say his name, tears started to form. He gently cupped her face with both hands and leaned down to kiss her forehead. "I'm here," he whispered.

Alexander pressed the button by the bed, and soon Owen walked in with a few others. Seeing Victoria awake, Owen let out a sigh of relief. Victoria wasn't just his close friend's wife; she was also a dear friend of his own wife.

Yesterday, Owen had to calm Lila down, promising her that Victoria would wake up today before Lila finally went to sleep. Otherwise, Lila would have stayed outside all night. With Victoria's husband there, it wasn't her place to keep vigil.

After a quick check-up, Owen adjusted his glasses and said, "Victoria, you're really lucky, and you've got some serious willpower.. If it were anyone else, they wouldn't have woken up so fast. You're one tough cookie."

Victoria sat up, leaning against Alexander. Alexander carefully avoided her back wound, gently half-hugging her to make her as comfortable as possible.

Even though Victoria was awake, she didn't have much energy, looking incredibly fragile. Owen thought she finally looked like a normal injured person. Otherwise, he might have thought she was some kind of superhuman with her crazy resilience.

Victoria didn't have the energy to respond to Owen's sudden teasing. But Alexander, on the other hand, was full of energy. He shot a cold glance at Owen. "Speak plainly!"

Owen was speechless, thinking, 'Was what I just said really that complicated?' He glanced at Alexander. Considering Victoria had just narrowly escaped death, he decided not to argue. After all, with Alexander's status, no one would dare do anything to him anyway.

"She's weak from blood loss, which is normal," Owen said. "So she looks very frail. Her body functions are fine, just a mild concussion and two major wounds that need careful attention to avoid infection and scarring."

Upon hearing that she might have a scar, Victoria's brow furrowed. "It's okay, Alexander won't mind," Owen said, noticing her frown and trying to comfort her.

Victoria weakly lowered her eyes and said slowly, "I'm not worried about him minding; I mind myself."

Owen was speechless. Alexander whispered in her ear, "I don't mind. I love you for who you are." Then he reassured her, "Don't listen to Owen's nonsense; there won't be any scars." Victoria turned slightly to look at him and nodded.

Owen decided to get to the point. "I had the hospital check the records. The person who brought the blood yesterday didn't register, but there's a video," Owen said, pulling his phone out of his white coat pocket. "I sent it to you. See if you recognize this person."

Victoria's head was still spinning a bit, but she got the gist of what they were talking about. Alexander freed one hand to grab the phone from the side and opened Facebook to check out the video Owen sent.

Alexander didn't recognize the person, but Victoria did. With just one look, she knew it was Nicholas. So, he was the one who had been delivering blood to her all those times.

Victoria had tried to investigate before but came up empty. She wondered, 'Why isn't Nicholas hiding this time? What is he up to?'

Originally, Victoria had planned to use Christopher's setup to get herself slightly injured to lure out the mastermind. But she hadn't expected Christopher to involve Saskia and even arrange a sniper.

Jumping into the river was Victoria's last resort; at that moment, it was her only chance of survival. Luckily, she made it.

"Do you know him?" Alexander asked, noticing her frown and lowered eyes. Victoria nodded and then filled him in on her previous encounter with Nicholas.

Hearing this, Alexander's eyes flashed with a subtle emotion. "Okay, leave this to me. You just rest up." Right now, the most important thing for Alexander was for Victoria to get better.

"Darling..." Suddenly, Lila burst in through the door. When Lila saw Victoria sitting up in bed, she took a deep breath, fighting back a sob. "You're finally awake. You scared the crap out of me."

Lila had fallen asleep in Owen's office. She woke up from a terrible nightmare, freaked out. Then she ran over, not even bothering to put on her shoes.

Lila bypassed Owen and rushed to Victoria. She was about to hug her but hesitated when she saw Alexander. Victoria said softly, "Had a nightmare? I'm fine, don't cry."

Victoria saw the panic on Lila's face as she entered, clearly unaware that she had woken up, and noticed that Lila wasn't wearing shoes. Lila sniffled, feeling sad, and nodded.

Lila had dreamed that Victoria left her, which scared her awake. Despite her pale face, Victoria managed a smile. She reached out with some difficulty to hold Lila's hand. "Feel my hand; it's warm. I'm fine, just need to rest."

Lila was genuinely frightened. After learning what happened yesterday, she felt a chill down her spine, her hands and feet cold, and her scalp tingling. That was a big river, not some small stream. One wrong move, and Victoria could have lost her life.

"If you get any bolder, you might as well move into the hospital," Lila couldn't help but scold.

Victoria didn't react much, but the man behind her did. Almost as soon as she finished speaking, Alexander shot her a cold glare.

Owen pulled Lila into his arms at the same time. "In this freezing winter, you ran over here barefoot. Aren't you worried about catching a cold?" Owen scolded softly in her ear, holding her waist.

At that moment, Lila felt a chill in her feet. Without a word, she turned around, wrapped her arms around Owen's neck, and jumped, hanging onto him. Lila's slender legs crossed and locked around Owen's waist.

Owen, Victoria, and Alexander were all left speechless. Likewise, Caleb, Garrett, and Grant, who had just arrived, were equally stunned into silence.
