Chapter 89 Caring About You Is Instinctive, Uncontrollable
Five minutes later, Victoria lay on Alexander's chest, looking up with her bright eyes. "Still upset, darling?" she asked.
Alexander met her gaze and said, "I can't help but care about you."
Victoria was silent, unsure of what to say. She hadn't realized how much Alexander worried about her interactions with other men.
"You’re mine, got it?" Alexander emphasized.
Victoria smiled. "Yes, I'm yours, but can't you be a bit more generous? Ignatius is different. He relies on me a lot, and I don't want any issues between us."
Alexander thought for a moment. "I can, but I have one condition."
"What's the condition?" Victoria asked cautiously. She knew Alexander was strategic and didn't want to agree without knowing more.
Alexander gently tapped her nose. "Still so cautious with me? Do you think I'd harm you?"
Victoria admitted, "I have to be careful, especially with a business genius like you."
Alexander chuckled and leaned close to her ear. "Call me 'hubby' every day, and I'll agree. Deal?"
Victoria shivered at his breath on her skin. After thinking it over, she realized it was a small price to pay. They were married, after all. "Okay," she nodded.
Alexander's lips curled into a mischievous smile. "Good girl, call me now to show your sincerity."
Victoria trembled at his alluring voice. "Alexander, you can't do this!"
"What did you call me?" he whispered, making her heart race.
After a few seconds, Victoria leaned close to his ear and softly said, "Hubby," with a hint of shyness.
The simple word made Alexander tremble, his blood boiling and heart pounding.
It was the sweetest sound he'd ever heard.
"Happy now?" Victoria asked with a melodic voice.
Alexander nestled into her neck and kissed her earlobe. "Remember, you have to call me that every day."
Victoria's ears turned rosy red. He knew they were her sensitive spot and did it on purpose.
Victoria stayed silent. Alexander definitely did it on purpose!
That afternoon, Clara posted on Instagram: [I'm prepping for this year's fragrance competition. Just left the lab and saw some online drama about my relationship with Victoria. FYI, Victoria is Amy; we kept it under wraps to protect her. The music sheet issue was a coordination mistake; we co-created it. Sorry for the confusion. Thanks for all the support. We're good.]
She included a pic of herself working in the lab with a timestamp and a photo of her and Victoria looking friendly.
Lila saw the post and was furious. She called Victoria, "Darling, Clara is so fake! Pretending to be close to you online? Claiming you co-created the music sheet? She's shameless! She should be an actress!"
Lila ranted, not realizing it wasn't Victoria who answered.
"She's in the bathroom," a deep, cold voice said, stopping Lila. She checked the number, confused. "It's Victoria's number."
Alexander felt annoyed hearing Lila call Victoria "darling."
Lila, sensing the tension, quickly realized, "Alexander?"
"Yeah, it's me," he replied.
Lila laughed awkwardly, "Sorry, I didn't know you were with Victoria."
Alexander's voice was cold but polite. "Ms. Scott."
"Yes?" Lila responded reflexively.
"Could you use a different term of endearment for my wife?" Alexander asked.
Lila made a questioning sound.
Victoria walked out of the restroom and saw Alexander on the sofa with her phone. "Did someone call me?"
"Yeah," Alexander replied.
Victoria took the phone and saw it was Lila. "Lila, what's up?"
Lila, snapping back to reality at the sound of Victoria's voice, quickly said, "Check Facebook, I sent you something."
After hanging up, Lila felt a chill. Did Alexander just warn her?
Oh my God, was he even jealous of her friendship with Victoria?
No way!
Oh my God! That was terrifying. She was really scared just now.
