Chapter 66 Those Four Years, I Couldn't Find You
Victoria was curious why Lila suddenly started defending Owen. She couldn't figure out what Lila was thinking.
Half an hour later, Owen showed up right on time.
Victoria's first impression of Owen was that he was refined and elegant. She didn't expect him to be so irresponsible beneath his good looks.
The first thing Owen said to Lila was, "Are you feeling okay?"
Lila was stunned.
Victoria was also surprised. She didn't expect the gentle Owen to be so direct. No wonder he was a doctor; he could probably talk about sex-related topics more openly than Lila. They seemed quite compatible in this regard.
Owen had been calm and composed since he arrived, showing no signs of panic.
Seeing Lila's dazed look, Owen figured she was fine. When he left in the morning, she was still asleep. He had checked her body, and aside from some ambiguous marks, there were no other injuries, so he left reassured.
He had just finished a surgery half an hour ago when he got a call from Alexander. Connecting it to what happened between him and Lila yesterday and Lila's relationship with Victoria, he knew why Alexander called him.
"Didn't you see the note I left you?" Owen asked Lila, staring at her.
Lila was confused. "What note?"
Owen explained, "I got a call from the hospital this morning about an emergency surgery. You were still asleep, so I didn't wake you. But I left you a note to wait here for me."
Lila was silent, then ran back to the room.
Victoria was completely unprepared for this turn of events.
But Alexander wasn't surprised or curious at all.
With a humorous smile, he asked her, "Still want to hit him?"
Owen, standing there, asked in confusion, "Hit who?"
Alexander looked at him and said, "You."
Owen was silent.
Victoria felt a bit awkward and discreetly pinched Alexander's side.
Alexander endured it silently, his expression unchanged.
Owen broke out in a cold sweat. He had never seen Victoria hit someone, but he had seen the aftermath once, and it was terrifying to think about.
Then the three of them saw Lila come out holding a note, looking innocent as she said, "I didn't notice it. It was under my pillow."
So, Lila's tears were shed in vain.
Then, Alexander took Victoria and left. The remaining matters were something they couldn't help with and had to be resolved by Owen and Lila themselves.
In the car, Victoria asked, "Aren't we going back to Howard Villa?"
"No, I'm taking you somewhere first," Alexander said mysteriously.
Several cars followed them not far behind.
The leading car was driven by Dylan and Marcus. Ever since Victoria appeared, Alexander rarely let them drive when they went out. But they couldn't leave Alexander's side, so they followed in this manner.
"By the way, did you find out who broke into the system yesterday?" Dylan asked.
Marcus was puzzled. "Hades already replied. We couldn't find any clues."
Dylan was shocked. "Is there someone even Hades can't find?"
Marcus replied, "Besides Zing from Scarlet Portal, this is the second one."
Dylan had a bold guess, "Do you think Zing could be the one from yesterday?"
Marcus immediately denied it, "Do you think Zing is that dumb? Would he come here just to install a firewall for us? This guy didn't ask for anything in return. There's no such thing as a free lunch; there must be a catch."
Dylan was just speculating. Indeed, unless Zing was bored, he wouldn't do something so absurd. Even if Zing was bored, he wouldn't do something so ridiculous.
An hour later, Alexander brought Victoria to an estate on the outskirts of Ridge.
Before the car even stopped, she was already stunned. Through the window, she saw a vast expanse of blue flowers.
It took her a while to come back to her senses. She turned to look at Alexander, who gently said, "Come on."
They stood side by side.
"Do you like it?" Alexander asked, looking at her.
Victoria was still in shock. The vast expanse of flowers had truly stunned her.
"How did you get this?" she asked.
Alexander answered, "Money talks."
Victoria couldn't argue with that, but she had one question, "How did you know I like blue?"
Indeed, her favorite color was blue, but she had never shown it. So how did he know?
Alexander wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her close, and looked into her eyes.
His deep eyes were full of tenderness and love.
"Although you don't show it often, blue is the color that shows up the most in our home. It's easy to know," Alexander said, his voice like a feather, tickling her heart.
Victoria smiled. She had to admire Alexander's attentiveness.
"When did you get all this?" Victoria continued to ask.
"The day after we got married, I had it arranged," he replied.
Victoria was puzzled. "But you weren't living in the apartment then. How did you know?"
Alexander gently tapped her nose and chuckled, "I've known since we were kids."
Victoria was silent.
So, it seemed she had no secrets in front of him.
He knew everything about her.
"Alexander, did you put a surveillance camera on me?" Victoria squinted her eyes and asked.
Alexander thought for a moment and said, "Sort of, but..."
"But what?" Victoria asked, seeing that he stopped mid-sentence.
Alexander's deep eyes were like a gem, full of mystery and allure.
"But I couldn't find you during those four years you left Ridge," Alexander said, sounding a bit like he was acting spoiled.
Victoria's heart raced at his words. He had always been by her side.
It was normal that he couldn't find her during those four years. That place wasn't somewhere just anyone could find.
Victoria realized that she had always had a man who loved her deeply by her side. Why hadn't they met sooner?
Her heart was filled with gratitude and relief. She was so lucky to have met Alexander and to be loved by such an outstanding person.
But now, it didn't seem too late. She seemed to be slowly falling in love with Alexander.
Victoria's hands, which were hanging by her sides, slowly wrapped around Alexander's waist. She stood on tiptoe and kissed Alexander's lips.
