Chapter 335 Let's See How You Perform
"Are you feeling okay?" Alexander leaned in a bit, gently touched her head, and asked softly.
Victoria blinked, shook her head, and licked her dry lips. "I'm starving."
Alexander chuckled, then helped her sit up carefully since her back was injured and she couldn't lean back. He poured her a glass of warm water and handed it to her. Then he brought over a thermal container, opened it, and set it on the table in front of her.
"You can only have some light porridge for now," he said, noticing her frown. "I made it myself."
Victoria blinked at him. "In typical stories, the guy wouldn't say he made it himself. He'd say the housekeeper did."
Alexander's eyes sparkled with affection as he played along, pretending to be curious. "Why's that?"
"Because it's supposed to touch the girl's heart. Isn't that how it always goes?" Victoria replied smoothly.
Alexander burst out laughing. He picked up a spoon, scooped up some porridge, blew on it to cool it down, and brought it to her mouth. It wasn't the first time he'd fed her porridge, so she opened her mouth naturally.
"So, Victoria, does that mean you're not touched now?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. His voice, already pleasant, made her heart flutter.
Victoria swallowed the porridge, shook her head with a smile. "I prefer your straightforwardness." Just as she finished speaking, Alexander fed her another spoonful.
Victoria's smile was beautiful, and even without makeup, it didn't diminish her natural beauty. Having just woken up, her face was still a bit pale and haggard, but it didn't take away from her beauty.
"For you, I've always been open. I don't need to hide anything from you, nor do I need you to repay or be touched by anything, because these are things I should do," Alexander said as he continued to feed her porridge.
Victoria met his deep eyes, filled with tenderness and sincerity. Alexander added, "All I ask is that you stay by my side and be a little more considerate, understand?"
She held the spoon in her mouth for a few seconds, then let go and nodded. "Got it."
"Really got it?" Alexander asked, "You're not just brushing me off, are you?" His tone was gentle, revealing no emotion.
"I'm not brushing you off," Victoria replied, but she felt like he was setting a trap for her.
"Then who promised me they wouldn't get hurt?" he asked gently. "And what happened in the end?" His gentle tone made it even more frightening.
Victoria was speechless. So, was this a case of settling old scores? She reached out and grabbed his shirt hem, her long, dark eyelashes fluttering. She pouted slightly, "I'm already in this state, and you still have the heart to lecture me? Besides, it wasn't intentional; it was purely an accident. I didn't expect that lunatic Christopher to involve Mom."
As she spoke, Victoria shook the hand holding his shirt hem, feeling a bit grieved. Then she added with a hint of a pout, "Honey, can you not hold this against me this time, please?"
Alexander glanced at her hand clutching his shirt, then fed her another spoonful of the cooled porridge. "Depends on your behavior," he said, leaving it at that.
Outside the ward, Lila and Owen stood, watching the scene inside through the glass. Owen was relatively calm, but Lila was dumbfounded. This unprecedented scene was too shocking. She shouted 'Oh my god!' in her mind.
"Victoria is actually acting all cute?" Lila said in disbelief. "I thought she would never act like that in her life."
Owen understood her surprise, but he was surprised by something else. He watched as Alexander put the spoon that had been in Victoria's mouth into his own lips. Didn't Alexander have a cleanliness obsession? He could accept this level?
"Alexander doesn't mind the spoon Victoria used?" Owen's low, gentle voice reached Lila's ears.
Owen stood behind her; Lila slightly tilted her head back, her head resting against his chest, and glanced at him. "They've kissed; are you stupid?"
Lila hesitated. "I think you really need to see a neurologist. How could you ask such a question?"
Owen looked down at Lila, squinting slightly, pursing his lips, and said nothing. Then they continued to watch for a while before knocking and entering.
After Victoria finished eating, Lila told her about Marlowe and asked her to call Marlowe to let her know she was safe. Then she mentioned her Facebook being hacked.
The two women chatted by the bedside, while the two men sat on the sofa, quietly listening to their conversation. What Owen and Alexander didn't expect was that Grant could play such childish tricks, but this time he failed miserably.
After a while, Victoria took Lila's phone and called Marlowe. Marlowe felt much more at ease knowing she was okay, and the three of them chatted over the phone.
Owen glanced at them, then turned to look at Alexander, who had started working. "If Grant finds out we teamed up to trick him, he’s gonna be really mad, right?"
Alexander didn't even look up. "If you're scared, you can tell Grant now, as long as you're not afraid of Lila leaving you."
Owen remembered the harsh words Lila had said earlier. He thought to himself, 'Forget it, they're not my wife and kids. Whoever's wife and kids they are, let them handle it themselves.' Lila was still vigorously complaining about Grant.
Meanwhile, Kevin stood by, listening to the continuous sneezing, and nervously asked, "Mr. Scott, do you have a cold?" There was still no news of Marlowe showing up at the hospital, so it seemed this plan was going to fail again.
In the afternoon, Alexander received a call and went out. Victoria couldn't move, lying in bed with an IV. As she looked at her phone for a while, she got more bored, and stared at the ceiling for a long time.
Suddenly, Victoria remembered something. Then she made a call as she thought, 'Damn, I almost forgot about Thalia.'
Leroy, who was at Wind Sleep Villa, had just opened the door to welcome someone when he received Victoria's call. He didn't hesitate to answer, and before he could speak, he heard her ask, "Leroy, where's my grandma?"
Leroy paused, glanced at the figure already in the living room, and said, "She'll be sent back later."
