Chapter 333 Give Him a Tip

"Lila, what the heck are you doing out here? Get down!" Lila had just leaped up when she heard that all-too-familiar stern voice in the hospital room.

She was lounging on Owen's broad shoulder and looked up towards the door when she heard the voice. Then she realized it was Grant. But the floor was cold, and Lila wasn't about to get down.

Caleb chimed in, "Grant, chill out. We're all among ourselves, what's the big deal?"

Grant didn't really approve of Lila and Owen being together, but he had his own problems to deal with, so he was too drained to even worry about Lila.

But getting caught by Grant was a whole different story. "I'll say it one more time, get down!" Grant warned, his face cold and eyes narrowed.

For the first time, Lila defied Grant, "No, I'm not getting down. I'm not wearing shoes, my feet are cold. If you're willing to carry me, I'll get down."

Grant's temple twitched. Lila knew Grant would never carry her; he had despised her since they were kids. Rumor had it that when Grant held Lila as a child, she peed on him. Since then, Grant had never held Lila again.

"Don't make it hard for Grant." Owen held Lila's waist with one hand to keep her from falling and patted the back of her head with the other, saying, "Your official boyfriend is here, no need to trouble others."

Lila nodded in agreement. Grant was annoyed by being referred to as "others" by Owen. Although they were good friends, Grant considered Owen like a brother, but Owen wanted to be his nephew-in-law.

"Owen, do you know how old Lila is? And how old are you?" Grant said coldly. The implication was clear: He was robbing the cradle! Everyone present got it.

Lila was particularly bold today. "Grant, are you implying that Owen is robbing the cradle?"

"By that logic, Grant, aren't you also robbing the cradle with Marlowe?" Lila retorted, "And you're five years older than Marlowe, while Owen is only four years older than me."

Everyone thought, 'She really dares to say it!'

Grant looked at Lila, who usually acted timidly around him, but had suddenly become sharp-tongued. His temple twitched again.

At this moment, Alexander, with a cold and distinguished face, glanced at everyone present. "If you're looking for a fight, take it somewhere else." Alexander said in a low voice, "Don't disturb my wife's rest."

Everyone was driven out of the hospital room, and Alexander repeatedly ordered that no one should visit without a good reason; he didn't need it. He also instructed the bodyguards outside the room that no one was allowed in without his permission.

Owen carried Lila back to the dean's office, and she, feeling momentarily bold, was carried like a zoo animal. Lila buried her face in Owen's neck, trying to hide her presence. In contrast, Owen was much more composed.

In the hospital, most people knew Lila was the dean's girlfriend. For someone as upright as their dean, it was striking to see a woman coming and going freely from Owen's office. It clearly showed how much Owen cherished this girlfriend.

"Still haven't found Marlowe?" Garrett glanced at Grant. It was better not to mention it; as soon as it was brought up, Grant frowned, and a cold aura surrounded him.

Last time, Grant demanded that Marlowe meet him once, and he would sign the papers. Marlowe, however, insisted that Grant sign first before meeting. And then it was delayed several times.

Now it was Marlowe who wasn't in a hurry. Since that time, Marlowe hadn't had her lawyer contact Grant, and she vanished without a trace.

Caleb and Garrett weren't dumb; they could tell something was off. It seemed like Marlowe was still MIA. They both thought, 'If we had known, we wouldn't have acted so foolishly in the first place!'

No one would've guessed that Marlowe, who seemed so gentle and mild, had such a fierce side. When she became ruthless, nothing could stop her.

Caleb suggested, "Victoria got hurt, so logically, Marlowe should come visit since they're close, right?" He knew Grant got what he was hinting at.

Grant glanced at him, then patted Caleb's shoulder before walking away. "You really love stirring the pot!" Garrett said, giving Caleb a look.

Caleb shrugged. "I call it helping others." Garrett rolled his eyes at Caleb, not bothering to respond, then turned and knocked on the hospital room door. He was there to discuss serious matters with Alexander.

Alexander had just helped Victoria lie down to rest when he heard the knock. "Alexander, come out, I need to talk to you," Garrett called from outside, as the bodyguards wouldn't let him in. Only Alexander's men dared to stop him.

Inside the room, Victoria looked at him, smiled weakly, and said, "Go ahead, I'll take a nap." Victoria was genuinely tired and wanted to sleep a bit more.

"Sleep well." Alexander stroked her cheek and kissed her forehead. Victoria nodded and closed her eyes to sleep. Alexander checked her blanket one more time before getting up to leave.

Outside the room.

"The black market people were taken by Ellington." Garrett coughed lightly. "Ellington was also there that night by the river."

"Does Victoria know Ellington?" Garrett asked curiously, "Ellington is the head of the Syeattel black market, and his true identity is a mystery."

Alexander's eyes narrowed slightly, his distinguished features revealing no emotion. "What are you trying to say?" Alexander asked, pursing his lips.

Garrett hesitated. "The people Victoria knows aren't ordinary. Ellington..."

Alexander turned slightly, giving him a sidelong glance. "Do I look like an ordinary person?" His implication was clear: if Victoria could be with him, it wasn't strange that she knew some unusual people.

Garrett could find no words. Caleb, too, was struck dumb. They both thought, 'That's true, Alexander isn't ordinary; he's tougher than anyone.' They had no response.

"Aren't you curious how Victoria knows Ellington?" Garrett continued, "And they must be close. The people Ellington took away were all dealt with. If they weren't close, why would someone like Ellington personally get involved in the rescue?"

Alexander said nonchalantly, "No, I'm not curious. As long as Victoria is mine, that's all that matters."

Garrett was speechless again, thinking, 'So what I just said was for nothing?'

Caleb suddenly said, "Do you think he might have been bored and took his men to the river for sightseeing?"

Garrett turned to look at him like he was an idiot. Alexander was more direct, not even bothering to look at him.

Garrett was disdainful. "Seriously, Caleb, don't tell anyone you know me when you go out!"

He didn't hold back his sarcasm. "I think you've been spending too much time in bars, and it's affecting your brain. Who in their right mind would go sightseeing by the river for no reason?"

Meadowview Villas.

Marlowe was scrolling through her news feed when she saw a post that made her feel uneasy.
