Chapter 88 Alexander's Depression

"Why'd you come out here alone?" Victoria asked, finally relieved to see him safe.

As Alexander got closer, Ignatius felt a wave of hostility and shivered.

Victoria thought he was cold from the wind. She touched his thin clothes—a T-shirt and light jacket—and looked worried. "Are you cold?"

Alexander, watching Victoria touch Ignatius, said sarcastically, "Cold? It's like a sauna out here."

Ignatius looked up at Alexander, sensing his aloofness.

Victoria turned to Alexander, puzzled by his strange tone.

Alexander then pulled her to his side, breaking her hold on Ignatius.

Ignatius was stunned, watching Victoria with Alexander. For the first time, he faced a stranger without fear.

Victoria realized Alexander was upset about her concern for Ignatius.

"Victoria, remember you're married. Keep your distance from other men," Alexander said, holding her waist.

Victoria chuckled, "Alexander, he's my brother."

"But he's not blood-related, and even if he was, it's still inappropriate!" Alexander retorted.

Victoria stayed silent.

Ignatius then said, "Please let go of Victoria. It's rude."

Rude?

Alexander's face darkened. Ignatius called him rude?

Victoria was surprised by Ignatius's words, then laughed, glancing at Alexander.

Alexander, looking grim, said, "How is it rude to hold my own wife?"

Victoria stayed silent.

Can't he be a bit gentler? His tone was too cold.

Ignatius, understanding some things despite his childlike mind, ignored Alexander and turned to Victoria. "Victoria, I saw people online cursing you. I was worried, so I came out. Sorry for making you worry."

Alexander, surprised by Ignatius's boldness, spoke before Victoria could, "You know it worries her, yet you still ran out!"

Then he groaned as Victoria elbowed him.

Alexander didn't expect her to hit him.

Victoria said, "Speak to him nicely."

She hadn't expected the dignified CEO to act so childish, sulking with a kid.

Threatened by Victoria, Alexander stayed silent.

A security guard then approached.

"Ms. Kennedy, Mr. Howard, do you know him?" the guard asked.

Ignatius, scared by the security guard, grabbed Victoria's arm and stood closer to her.

Victoria, now flanked by two tall men, looked at the guard and said, "Yes, he's my brother."

The guard nodded. "Got it. We saw him squatting here for almost half an hour. We asked him what was up, but he didn't say anything. Otherwise, we'd have let him in to wait for you."

"Sorry, he's a bit shy. Thanks," Victoria replied.

The guard waved it off. "No problem. Glad he found you."

Alexander kept an eye on Ignatius, a hint of doubt in his eyes.

In the apartment, Victoria called Colin from the balcony to let him know Ignatius was with her and not to worry.

In the living room, Alexander and Ignatius sat facing each other, staring. Alexander lounged with an air of authority, while Ignatius sat nervously. It was clear who had the upper hand.

Victoria finished her call and saw the awkward scene, sighing. Ignatius didn't want to go back to the hotel, so she brought him up.

What puzzled her was that Ignatius, usually scared of strangers, wasn't afraid of Alexander.

She walked into the living room, smiled at Ignatius, and said, "Ignatius, go play in the movie room for a bit. Alexander and I need to talk."

Ignatius glanced between her and Alexander, nodded, and went to the movie room.

Alexander watched him move around comfortably, his eyes hinting at danger.

"Is he familiar with this place?" Alexander asked, annoyed.

Victoria held back a laugh, seeing his gloomy face. "Yes, he's been here before."

Alexander stayed silent, feeling frustrated.

Victoria sat beside him, noticing his unhappy face. She found it endearing and pinched his cheek playfully. "Alright, darling. Don't be upset, okay?"

No one had ever dared to pinch Alexander's face. His eyes cold, he asked, "Victoria, do you know whose face you're pinching?"

Victoria smiled, "Of course, my husband's face."

Hearing this, Alexander felt relieved. He liked hearing her call him that, even though she rarely did unless he insisted.

Alexander sneered, "You better have a good explanation. If I'm not satisfied, I'll go on strike. You'll be on your own."

Victoria was stunned. Did she just see a mix of arrogance and playfulness in him?

Oh my God! Was this really the cold and decisive Alexander?

It didn't feel out of place at all. Instead, it added some fun. Alexander was really adorable, like a hidden treasure.
