Chapter 395 Alexander Is Out, Landon Steps Up
"Yes," Nicholas replied.
Esme was silent for a moment, then frowned and said, "I think you guys sent some information back before. Do Bryan and Vicky know each other?"
Nicholas, reminded by her, suddenly remembered that there was indeed such a thing.
"Then she must be on the invitation list," she said. "No, we can't let her go to Aidamore and meet them."
"Nicholas, I don't care what method you use, you must stop her from going to Aidamore this time," Esme said in a low voice.
Howard Villa.
"This is the soup that Mr. Nathan Howard specifically instructed the kitchen to prepare for you," the butler Micah said as he had the soup served.
Victoria's mouth twitched in silence.
Alexander looked on expressionlessly.
As Victoria was struggling with what to do, Alexander said in a deep voice, "Micah, take the soup away and dump it."
Preston, Saskia, and Cynthia all looked at Alexander.
But no one dared to ask the reason.
Victoria turned to Alexander and blinked, thinking, 'Alexander is the best!'
Micah was dumbfounded, thinking, 'Oh no, did Alexander find out something?'
"Mr. Alexander Howard, this soup..."
Micah was about to speak when Alexander interrupted him, "Tell my grandfather that I'm in good health and don't need this! Also, I know he's eager to have a great-grandchild, but my wife and I have no plans to have children before the wedding. We won't consider it until after the wedding."
"And he doesn't need to pretend to be sick and mess around. I know his leg is fine. After dinner, we'll go back, so John doesn't have to change his cast every day," he added.
Everyone fell silent.
Alaric, however, didn't care about anything and just kept eating his food, as he was young and didn't understand.
Victoria didn't expect Alexander to say it outright.
Under the table, she tugged at his clothes, signaling that he didn't need to say so much.
Saskia, unwilling to give up, cautiously asked, "Alexander, can I ask you something?"
Alexander glanced at her but didn't stop her.
Saskia said, "You just said you don't plan to have children before the wedding. What about after the wedding? Can you give us a timeline?"
Alexander frowned slightly. "Do you like taking care of children that much?"
Without thinking, she replied, "Of course, I..."
Before she could finish, Alexander said, "Isn't there one right here? Let Cynthia give Alaric to you."
Alexander gestured towards Cynthia.
Saskia looked at Alaric, who was eating happily, and her temple twitched.
How could that be the same?
Seeing no hope with Alexander, she pinned her hopes on Victoria instead. "Victoria, I..."
Alexander's deep, almost cold voice interrupted, "Mom, it's useless to ask her. Without me, she can't have children."
This blunt truth left no room for rebuttal.
Saskia gave Preston a look. "You talk to Alexander!"
Preston, with a bowl in one hand and a fork in the other, gave her a look. "He's telling the truth. What can I say?"
Micah relayed Alexander's words verbatim to Nathan.
Upon hearing this, Nathan thought his plan to have a great-grandchild soon was likely to fail.
Micah thought Nathan would give up on this matter for now, but the next second...
"If Alexander can't be persuaded, then let Landon try," Nathan said astonishingly.
Micah was silent.
Nathan looked determined once more. "Micah, hurry up and find out which young ladies in Rihegde are still unmarried and around Landon's age," he instructed.
He was determined to have a great-grandchild this year.
And poor Landon had no idea that he was being targeted by Nathan.
The next day.
Victoria was just about to leave for the research institute when she received a call from Nancy. "Victoria, something's wrong. Miss Saunders has been taken away."
Victoria paused just as she was about to get in the car. Alexander saw her standing by the car door, suddenly motionless, and her face instantly turned cold.
"Send me the location," she said in a cold, suppressed voice.
"What's wrong?" Alexander asked, seeing her expression change.
She briefly explained the situation to him and said, "You go to the company first. I'll drive there myself."
Alexander replied, "Get in the car. I'll go with you."
She didn't argue and got in the car, then told him the location Nancy had sent.
Dylan and Quentin, left behind once again, exchanged glances.
Ever since Alexander started driving Victoria to work himself, they had been out of a job.
"Look at Mrs. Victoria Howard's expression. It must be urgent," Quentin said. "Should we follow them or go to the company and wait for Mr. Alexander Howard?"
Dylan turned to give him a look. "What do you think?"
Of course, they would follow.
The Hughes Mansion.
Sarah looked at the group of strangers in front of her. She only recognized one person, and that was the person she least wanted to see.
Claire was stunned to see her there, hiding the surprise that flashed in her eyes.
The Hughes family knew she had another daughter, but they didn't know Sarah was her daughter.
But why was Sarah here now?
Claire looked at her husband in confusion and asked, "Dear, who is this?"
Algernon's dark eyes narrowed as he looked at her. "You don't recognize her?"
Claire's heart skipped a beat. Did he already know?
"I..."
Algernon interrupted her, "Claire, you don't need to explain. I know. It's normal that you don't recognize her."
He then turned his gaze to Sarah and said, perhaps intentionally or unintentionally, "After all, you don't like your ex-husband's child, even to the point of disgust. That's what you told me before."
His words shocked both Claire and Sarah.
Claire's heart raced, and she instinctively looked at Sarah, shaking her head slightly, but she couldn't say anything.
Claire saw Sarah pursed her lips but didn't see any other reaction on her face. She had no idea what Sarah was thinking.
Even though Sarah had been brought to this unfamiliar place, she showed no fear.
She coldly scanned the people in front of her and then fixed her gaze on Algernon, who was sitting.
Her voice was icy, "Sir, I don't know you. You had your people bring me here without a word. What do you want?"
Algernon's face showed a kind smile. "We are not unrelated. By relationship, I am your stepfather."
Sarah frowned in silence.
Claire stood by, wringing her hands, not knowing what to say.
A few seconds later, Sarah laughed. She was beautiful, with nearly perfect features. On closer inspection, it became clear that she actually resembled Claire quite a bit.
However, while Claire was gentle and demure, Sarah was striking and seductive. When she smiled, she was like a stunning red rose with thorns.
"Stepfather?" Her lips curled into a wicked, mocking smile. "I'm an orphan. My parents are dead. Where would I get a stepfather?"
