Chapter 486 Adopted or Biological: A Father's Choice
Facing Victoria's words, Waverly was speechless.
She was genuinely rattled.
She never imagined Victoria had this side to her.
Nor did she ever think she'd feel afraid of Victoria.
Victoria knelt on one knee before her, casually resting an elbow on her knee.
"Miss Windsor, you should never have gotten involved in this matter," she said casually, but her voice was cold enough to make one shiver.
She truly hadn't intended to do anything to Waverly, as long as she'd kept to herself.
But Waverly just had to get involved.
Waverly's heart tightened. She played dumb: "I don't know what you're talking about."
She turned away, unable to look at Victoria anymore.
Victoria's eyes were too mesmerizing, as if they could bewitch one's soul.
"Is that so?" Victoria narrowed her eyes, her tone languid as she drawled, "Then I don't mind helping you remember. I have all the time in the world."
She raised one hand, slightly curling two fingers to signal Winter behind her to bring something over.
Winter took out a tablet and stepped forward to hand it over.
Victoria accepted it, her fingers deftly sliding across the tablet a few times, pulling up a video.
"Here, take a good look. Recognize anyone?" She rotated the screen toward Waverly.
Waverly glanced at it. The person in the video was certainly familiar—it was herself.
But she had specifically arranged for the surveillance records to be deleted. How did Victoria still have them?
Victoria, as if guessing her question, said, "Wondering how I found this when you thought you'd destroyed all evidence, aren't you?"
Waverly remained silent.
Victoria let out a soft laugh, then continued, "You did have someone delete it, but not thoroughly, and the person you hired wasn't professional. Surveillance footage isn't something you can just delete and be done with. Next time you want to erase evidence like this, you should hire O Alliance. I guarantee they'll make it disappear completely."
Sidney remained silent, thinking, 'Victoria, are you scolding her or advertising services?'
Eugene and Winter just watched in silence.
Waverly didn't understand what Victoria was up to.
"Victoria, you can't touch me. I'm a Windsor. If you dare harm me, my father won't let you get away with it," Waverly said.
She feared Victoria's cold gaze.
And the fact that Victoria had found this footage meant she likely wouldn't let her off easily—otherwise, why bring her here tonight?
Faced with her threat, Victoria scoffed, "It seems your late Griffin never told you the truth."
Waverly's ability to make such a threat indicated she didn't know Victoria's true relationship with Zephyr.
Though Victoria felt nothing for Zephyr, the father who had neglected her for over twenty years, she was confident he wouldn't interfere in this matter.
"What do you mean? What truth?" Waverly genuinely didn't know.
Victoria lowered her gaze momentarily, then fixed her eyes on Waverly, her red lips curling into a slight smile. "Who do you think Zephyr would choose—an adopted daughter or his biological one?"
Waverly's mind went blank as a thought flashed through it. She stared at Victoria in shock. "Impossible!"
Victoria glanced at her, having no desire to explain further.
"Sidney, take her to the yacht," she ordered as she stood up, her voice cool.
"Yes, Victoria." Sidney stepped forward and yanked Waverly up, heading toward the docked yacht.
Waverly struggled, to no avail.
"Let go! What are you planning to do?" she shouted.
Her shouts echoed through the deserted harbor, but tonight, no one would hear them.
Sidney rolled her eyes and shouted back, "Shut up, you're too loud. You'll find out soon enough!"
Once aboard, Sidney simply dumped her on the deck.
Soon, the yacht set sail.
Waverly watched as they left the harbor, her anxiety growing.
But no one on deck paid her any attention.
No matter what she said, no one responded.
And Victoria was nowhere to be seen.
Until about twenty minutes later.
The yacht stopped in the middle of the sea.
Only then did Victoria slowly appear on deck.
"Victoria, everything's ready," Eugene approached and said solemnly.
She responded softly, raising an eyebrow. "Bring her up."
"Understood."
Sidney and Eugene escorted the terrified Waverly to the third-level deck.
Looking out at the pitch-black sea, she felt an unknown fear creeping through her entire being.
Then, she saw Sidney produce a rope from somewhere.
Five minutes later.
Waverly was tied to the outside of the deck railing, suspended by ropes around her wrists, her body hanging vertically over the water.
Her piercing screams added an eerie atmosphere to the quiet, dark sea.
"Victoria, what are you planning to do to me?" Waverly exclaimed.
Looking at the pitch-black, endless sea before her, fear engulfed her entire body, and tears threatened to fall.
Victoria leaned her arms on the railing, right next to Waverly. She sighed, gazing into the distance where nothing could be seen.
After a long while, she turned her gaze to Waverly.
"I'm not doing anything special—just letting you taste the seawater," she said unhurriedly, her eyes containing a chilling indifference.
"After all, someone like you probably hasn't had the chance to experience a natural seawater bath, right?" she added.
Victoria tilted her head, wearing a half-smile as she observed Waverly's terrified expression.
Before Waverly could respond, Victoria's cool voice rang out again, "Sidney, go ahead!"
Sidney seemed quite excited. "Okay!"
The next second, a piercing scream cut through the clouds.
Accompanied by the sound of something heavy hitting the water, the scream disappeared, and the sea instantly fell silent.
Sidney counted the time nearby, ready to pull her up when the time was right.
The screams resumed, though noticeably weaker than before.
Waverly took a long time to recover, gasping for air and coughing violently.
The sudden sensation of falling had terrified her. Before she could react, she had plunged into the sea, with water rushing into her mouth, nose, eyes, and ears, assaulting her senses and nerves. In that moment, she had felt the fear of the deep sea, and of death itself.
For a moment, she couldn't breathe as seawater flooded her mouth.
Victoria didn't rush to ask Waverly about her experience.
She patiently waited for her to recover.
When the time seemed right, she smiled and asked, "Miss Windsor, tell me about your experience. Was it thrilling? Fun?"
Waverly turned her head, her bloodshot eyes glaring at Victoria. "Victoria, what exactly do you want?"
"Aren't you already experiencing it? Why ask?" She gave Waverly a look reserved for idiots.
"Victoria, listen to me. You'd better hope I never get my hands on you!" she said through gritted teeth.
Victoria ignored this, continuing with a smile. "Why don't we add another element to this game? I think it would make things more interesting. Whether you fall into the water or not depends on you. How about it?"
"I'll ask you a question, and you answer. If your answer satisfies me, or if it doesn't contain any lies, I won't drop you into the water. You'll escape this ordeal. Perhaps if I'm in a good mood, I might even let you go," she continued.
Waverly stared at Victoria with eyes as wide as glass marbles. After a long moment, she nodded.
Victoria laughed softly. Waverly wasn't as stubborn as she'd thought, agreeing so quickly. It seemed Waverly was quite afraid of dying.
