Chapter 70 Victoria Gets Teased
After Alexander finished talking, he didn't bother explaining further. His choice of a wife was his business, not theirs.
Keith, a bit shocked, asked, "Alexander, when did you get married?"
Maurice chimed in, "Yeah, Alexander, we're your elders. Why didn’t you tell us about your wedding?"
Landon grinned and said, "Relax, you'll get an invite when the wedding happens."
Maurice frowned, "If there's no wedding, why is she calling Nathan and the others like Alexander does? That doesn’t make sense."
Landon shot back, "It's modern times, don't be so old-fashioned."
Maurice felt awkward being called old-fashioned, but no one stopped Landon. With Alexander as his brother, Landon could get away with a lot. He grew up under Alexander's protection.
Landon continued, "Oscar had a kid before getting married, and you didn't say anything about that, did you?" He raised an eyebrow, smiling.
Maurice's face soured, unable to respond.
Landon, always smiling, added, "Maurice, you need to keep up with the times."
Maurice, silenced, felt embarrassed. The others watched quietly, all curious about Victoria.
Alexander didn't explain his relationship with Victoria because he didn't need to. Whether they accepted it or not, Victoria was his only wife. It wasn't the right time to dig into it, so the topic was dropped.
After dinner, everyone moved to the viewing platform for fireworks. After the show, only the younger folks stayed while the elders went back inside.
Alexander left for a bit, leaving Victoria alone. Everyone was curious about her, but since she was Alexander's wife, no one dared approach her. Some envied her looks, some envied Alexander's affection for her, and some had other thoughts.
Samantha was the only one brave enough to talk to Victoria. "You're so beautiful," she said.
Victoria looked up and saw Samantha smiling at her. Despite her cold demeanor, Victoria knew how to be polite. She smiled and said, "Thank you, you're very pretty and lovely too."
"Are you Alexander's girlfriend?" Samantha asked, feeling bolder now that Victoria seemed approachable.
Victoria thought for a moment and replied, "You could say that."
Samantha's eyes lit up with admiration. "You're really amazing," she said.
Victoria stayed silent. So being Alexander's girlfriend is amazing, she thought. What about being his wife?
"What's your name? I'm Samantha Roberts. Just call me Samantha. I'm 19," Samantha said cheerfully, clearly a friendly and lively girl.
Victoria was curious. "Your last name is Roberts?"
Samantha explained, "Yeah, my mom's from the Howard family."
Victoria nodded, understanding now. She didn't know much about the extended Howard family, just had a general idea.
"I'm Victoria Kennedy," she introduced herself.
"Can I call you Victoria?" Samantha asked, her friendliness shining through. Victoria nodded, not minding her enthusiasm.
Samantha had a pure, innocent look, with clear, untainted eyes. It seemed her mother had protected and raised her well. Victoria had thought the Howard family's complex dynamics would have affected the younger members.
Just then, a frivolous male voice interrupted, "Miss, you must be something special to be the girlfriend of the Howard family's heir."
Victoria and Samantha turned to see who it was. Victoria's cold, indifferent eyes glanced at him before looking away.
Feeling ignored, Neil was unhappy. He might not have Alexander's status, but he was still handsome and from a wealthy family. He bore the Howard name, after all.
"You're pretty young. How about being with me instead?" Neil said with a teasing smile. "Being the heir's wife isn't just about looks, you know?"
Samantha was scared and angry at Neil's shameless teasing.
"Watch your mouth!" Victoria said coldly before Samantha could respond.
Everyone heard Neil's words. Only Neil had the guts to tease Alexander's girlfriend. They knew being the heir's wife required more than just beauty; it needed a matching family background, connections, and power. None of them had seen Victoria before, so they assumed she lacked any significant background.
They had heard Alexander had a chosen wife, but it wasn't Victoria. They had seen the chosen wife before.
Neil was known for his reckless behavior, with scandals rivaling his father's.
"Think about it. Be with me. Besides the title of the heir's wife, I can give you everything else you need," Neil said, ignoring Victoria's cold stare and still acting recklessly.
Neil felt an inexplicable desire to conquer Victoria. The more he looked at her, the more beautiful she seemed, and the more he wanted her. It was the first time he had encountered such a stunning woman. If he had known about her earlier, he would have pursued her long ago.
Victoria's eyes grew colder, her face even more striking and beautiful despite its frosty expression. They all thought she couldn't cause any trouble in the Howard family. Neil thought the same.
Victoria lazily lifted her eyelids, her almond eyes staring at him. "Are you sure you can give me everything I want?" she asked.
