Chapter 197 Landon's Purpose

The next morning, Alexander trudged downstairs and spotted Landon chilling at the dining table.

"Morning, Alexander," Landon chirped, grinning like a Cheshire cat while munching on his breakfast.

Alexander's face scrunched up. He plopped down at the head of the table, shot Landon a frosty glare, and snapped, "You here to ruin my morning? Wipe that stupid grin off your face."

Landon's smile faltered.

What was so gross about his smile?

He turned to Sawyer, who was hanging around nearby, and asked, "Sawyer, was my smile really that bad?"

Sawyer chuckled. "Not at all, man."

Landon smirked. "Knew it. I'm way too good-looking for my smile to ever be considered disgusting."

Alexander ignored him, grabbed a glass of milk, took a sip, and started eating his breakfast like he had all the time in the world.

But Landon couldn't keep his mouth shut. He glanced at the stairs and casually asked, "Hey, Alexander, is Victoria still snoozing?"

Alexander didn't even look up. "Eat your breakfast. If you're not eating, get lost."

Landon shrugged off Alexander's cold shoulder; he was used to it. Alexander treated everyone in the family the same way. No biggie.

When Landon moved in last night, Alexander hadn't been home, so he had no clue Landon was already crashing at Serenity Grove Manor.

Landon puffed out his chest. "Alexander, I'm living here now. Where else would I go?"

Alexander's hand froze mid-cut. He shot Landon a sideways glance. "What did you just say?"

"I said I'm living here," Landon repeated.

"Who gave you the green light to stay here?" Alexander raised an eyebrow.

"Victoria did." Landon had a smug look that seemed to say, "I've got Victoria's backing, what can you do?"

Alexander had nothing to say to that.

In the past, he would've kicked Landon out without a second thought.

After a beat, Alexander's voice turned icy. "Mom sent you, didn't she?"

Landon froze mid-bite.

No way. He hadn't even spent half an hour with Alexander, and he was already busted?

Alexander's sharp instincts were wasted if he wasn't a detective.

He knew it; there was no hiding anything from Alexander. He had no idea where Saskia got her confidence from.

Alexander's calm but dangerous voice cut through the air. "You gonna spill, or should I have someone make you talk?"

Landon was freaking out inside, but he knew when to fold. They were family, after all, no shame in admitting defeat.

Just as he was about to speak, Alexander shot him a disgusted look. "Swallow your food before you talk!"

Landon quickly chewed and swallowed the rest of his breakfast.

Then he started explaining why he was there.

In the living room, Landon had lost his laid-back vibe from yesterday. He sat up straight on the sofa, legs together, hands on his thighs.

His eyes were full of sincerity and a bit of a pout as he looked at the intimidating Alexander.

Landon said, "So, here's the deal. Mom sent me to keep an eye on you and Victoria. She said if she doesn't see a grandkid this year, I have to give her one. But you know, I don't even have a girlfriend. Where am I supposed to get a kid for her? So I had no choice but to come here."

Alexander pinched the bridge of his nose.

Even though he had a cold vibe, he looked more exasperated than anything else.

He hadn't expected Saskia to send Landon to babysit them.

As Victoria came downstairs, she saw Landon sitting there looking all pitiful. She was confused. What the heck happened?
