Chapter 19: Kitchen Episode

"Need any help?" Victoria asked, walking up behind Alexander.

She felt awkward just sitting there while he worked alone.

She wasn't great at cooking, but she could still lend a hand.

Alexander turned and saw her bright, almond-shaped eyes darting around. "How about you wash the vegetables?" he suggested.

"Sure," Victoria agreed immediately.

Washing vegetables was easy. When Lila used to cook, Victoria would just wash the veggies.

She rolled up her sleeves, grabbed the vegetables and a basin, and started working at the sink.

Alexander glanced over, watching her bend over and seriously wash the vegetables. A slight smile appeared on his lips. This feeling was new to him, subtle, giving him a sense of satisfaction and happiness.

Suddenly, as Victoria was washing the vegetables, she felt a touch near her ear and froze.

Alexander had somehow ended up standing behind her, and if she moved, she would definitely bump into him.

He clumsily helped tidy up her loose hair, even pulling out a few strands in the process. It hurt, but she didn't say anything.

Then he tied her hair up with a rubber band.

"Done."

Hearing Alexander's voice in her ear, she moved slightly and turned to look at him.

"Thank you," Victoria said, her voice trembling slightly.

Her ears and neck were probably turning red; she could feel the heat.

His cold fingers had unintentionally brushed against her ear and neck, making her heart race uncontrollably. This kind of subtle teasing was too much for her.

It was the first time a man had helped her tie her hair.

And just like that, the little episode in the kitchen ended.

An hour later, Victoria looked at the dishes and soup on the table, fragrant and delicious, making her feel very hungry.

Alexander served her a bowl of soup first. "Drink this before eating," he said.

She obediently took a sip. "So delicious."

The soup looked great, and the seasoning was just right, perfectly matching her taste.

Then she tried the other dishes.

"They're all delicious," she commented.

Seeing her eat with such gusto, Alexander's own appetite increased.

After eating and drinking, Victoria didn't want to move. She felt a bit too full.

Alexander, on the other hand, skillfully cleaned up the table.

Victoria found herself in an awkward situation once again.

After cleaning up, Alexander returned to the living room and saw her frowning. He walked up to her. "Ate too much?"

Victoria looked up at him. Her usually cold and delicate face looked a bit wilted, and she nodded.

She had lost control and accidentally eaten a bit too much.

Alexander said helplessly, "Then get up and walk around. Sitting won't help you digest."

He should have stopped her earlier.

"I don't want to move," Victoria blinked and refused.

She really didn't want to move.

Alexander was silent for a moment.

He reached out and easily pulled her up from the sofa. Victoria, now standing, felt weak and listless.

If it weren't for Alexander supporting her, she wouldn't be able to stand.

Her stomach felt like it was being pressed by something, very uncomfortable, like she wanted to throw up but couldn't.

She never thought she would one day be so full.

"Do you have any digestive tablets at home?" Alexander's voice came from above her head.

Victoria thought for a moment, looked up at him, and shook her head.

"Then let's go buy some and take a walk, okay?" he suggested.

Victoria frowned slightly, clearly not wanting to walk, let alone go out.

Alexander's face showed helplessness, but more patience and gentleness.

"Come on, let's go for a walk. You'll feel better," Alexander coaxed gently.

Victoria hesitated for a few seconds, but in the end, Alexander pulled her downstairs. If it were up to her, she would have chosen to endure the discomfort rather than go downstairs. At worst, she could just sleep it off.

Alexander changed her shoes, put a coat on her, and then held her hand as they left.

Victoria looked down at her hand wrapped in Alexander's warm palm, feeling a warm current flow through her heart. This was the second time he held her hand like this; the first time was at the hospital.

Alexander first took her to a nearby pharmacy. Fortunately, her neighborhood was quite convenient, so they didn't have to walk far.

Alexander went into the store, bought digestive tablets, and asked the clerk for a cup of warm water so she could take the tablets immediately.

They attracted a lot of attention in the pharmacy.

Mainly because Alexander was tall and handsome, exuding an air of nobility, and Victoria was exquisitely beautiful. The clerks were all staring at them.

More importantly, Alexander was so gentle with her.

After taking the tablets, Alexander held her hand again and they left.

On the way, Victoria tried to pull her hand away, but Alexander held on too tightly, so she gave up.

After walking for a while, Victoria felt much better.

As they approached her apartment building, Victoria suddenly stopped.

Alexander, still holding her hand, noticed her hesitation and stopped as well.

He turned to face her and asked, "What's wrong?"

In the moonlight, Victoria slightly raised her head, using the streetlight and moonlight to see Alexander's deep, handsome face. He had a pair of eyes that could make anyone fall for him.

Victoria stared at him and spoke in a cool voice, "Alexander, didn't we agree not to disturb each other in our daily lives?"

But he had already started disrupting her life.

It was like a solitary place suddenly invaded by a stranger, disturbing her unique peace.

Alexander had given her care and gentleness, even a slight sense of security, making her want to rely on him.

She didn't mind his intrusion into her life, but it made her anxious, uneasy, and even panicked, always feeling a sense of gain and loss.

Alexander didn't answer her immediately.

Victoria's right hand was still tightly held in his.

"But I regret it."

Alexander's low, magnetic voice reached her ears.
