Chapter 305 You're Meeting His Family Already?
At first, Helen thought it was a scam. But the caller had this super pleasant voice, even better than the broadcasting students at her school. What really threw her off was the caller's intro.
Helen jumped out of bed and asked, "When?"
Then she said, "Okay, hold on. I'll be there in a minute."
Her roommate and friend watched her throw on a coat, shoes, and grab her bag. In less than a minute, she was out the door.
Her friend didn't even get a chance to ask what was going on and ended up texting her instead.
Helen, being super athletic, ran from the fifth floor to the first in one go. She flagged down a cab at the school gate and gave the driver an address as soon as she got in.
Seeing her urgency, the driver asked, "Is everything okay? Do you have an emergency?"
Helen replied, "Yes, it's very urgent."
The driver said, "Alright, hold on tight!"
Once in the car, Helen pulled out her phone to reply to her friend's message.
Friend: [Helen, are you rushing to claim a lottery prize?]
Helen: [This is way more important than a lottery prize.]
Helen: [Landon's sister-in-law wants to meet me.]
Friend: [You're meeting his family already?]
Friend: [Good luck, girl.]
When Helen got to the café, she took a deep breath before pushing the door open and walking in. A wave of warmth hit her. She followed the directions Victoria had sent her to a booth.
As she got closer, she saw a slender figure with long curly hair cascading down her back. For some reason, just that back view made her feel a subtle sense of pressure.
She took two steps forward and stood diagonally across from Victoria, greeting her. "Hey, I'm Helen."
Victoria had been looking down while replying to Alexander's message, but when she heard Helen greet her, she looked up to see a fresh and lively youthful face. She smiled, "Hi, I'm Victoria."
Helen was wearing a white down jacket, hastily thrown on in her rush to leave, making her look a bit disheveled. She held a small backpack, which only underscored her vibrant and laid-back personality.
As Victoria sized up Helen, Helen was also sizing up Victoria. The moment Victoria looked up, Helen gasped. 'Oh my God, she is so beautiful!' Helen thought.
She had seen many beautiful women, but this was the first time she had seen one who made her heart skip a beat. Beauty, grace, and stunning charm—every compliment she could think of fell short of describing Victoria's face.
She had seen Victoria's trending photos online before, but they didn't compare to seeing her in person. Victoria was far more beautiful in person.
Victoria said in a gentle voice, "Sit down."
Helen had no ill intentions, so Victoria didn't need to be too cold. Helen was straightforward, evidenced by the fact that she dared to hit Landon.
After plopping down, Helen got straight to the point, "Did you come to see me because of what happened online?"
Victoria asked, "Can I ask why you posted that on Instagram?"
Helen immediately threw her friend under the bus. "It wasn't me. It was my friend. I couldn't stop her."
Her friend was probably sneezing in the dorm at that moment.
Victoria raised an eyebrow.
Helen continued, "Actually, what I said on Instagram was the opposite of the truth." She bit her lip and looked down, hesitating before she continued, "I was the one who tried to make a move on Landon. I like him, but he rejected me."
Helen looked up with eyes full of apology. "So my friend got mad and made up that story to vent for me. She didn't mean anything else."
Victoria pondered for a moment and asked curiously, "What do you like about him?"
Helen answered without hesitation, "He's gentle, kind, gentlemanly, mature, charming, and charismatic."
Victoria saw her smiling happily but wondered if they were talking about the same Landon. The Landon she knew was always joking around and never serious.
Victoria asked, "Did you hit him because he rejected your confession?"
Helen quickly denied it, "No." Then, after a moment of hesitation, she blurted out, "The injury on his lip was from me biting him. The injury on his forehead was from when I accidentally pushed him. And the scratch on his neck was from when I accidentally scratched him while hugging him."
Victoria thought, 'Helen is really something! Lila is straightforward, but Helen is on another level. Compared to Helen, Lila is nothing. No wonder I thought the injury on Landon's lip looked strange.'
Landon had come with Victoria but stayed in the car, not wanting to see Helen. She was too scary for him. He couldn't control her! So he had asked Victoria to handle it for him.
Landon decided to avoid Helen in the future. Where she was, he wouldn't be. He waited for over forty minutes before Victoria returned.
As soon as Victoria got in the car, Landon asked, "Victoria, did you handle it?"
Victoria replied, "Yes, it's done."
Landon said, "I knew I could count on you. If you need anything in the future, just let me know."
What they didn't know was that Landon was asking if Helen would stop bothering him, while Victoria meant that she had asked Helen to have her friend delete the Instagram post and that they could ask for any conditions.
Landon hadn't asked Victoria to stop Helen from pursuing him; he had just made it clear that he wasn't interested in her at the moment. Moreover, Victoria believed that everyone had the right to pursue love, and she had no right to interfere.
So, two days later, Helen appeared in front of Landon once again.
