Chapter 24 Extremely Low Sense of Presence

It turned out to be the girl she had just bumped into in the hallway.

Next to her stood a handsome guy in a black suit, radiating a powerful vibe, much like Alexander, but with a more commanding presence.

However, there were some differences. This guy was colder and more detached. At least Alexander, though distant, still had a touch of humanity.

When Caleb saw the newcomer was Grant Scott, he immediately joked, "Finally! We've been waiting forever. For once, Alexander isn't the last to arrive."

In the past, Alexander was always the last to show up at their gatherings.

Grant hadn't spoken yet, but Marlowe Rivera, standing next to him, explained, "Sorry, we got held up."

As soon as Marlowe spoke, Caleb clammed up.

"Marlowe, he just likes to joke around. Don't mind him," Garrett said, for once sounding sensible.

Grant, with a cold expression, said nothing, pulled out a chair, and sat down. Marlowe sighed slightly, smiled at Garrett, and nodded in greeting.

Her smile was so gentle, just like her, graceful and elegant in every gesture.

After Marlowe sat down, she noticed Victoria sitting next to Alexander. She was slightly surprised that Alexander actually had a girlfriend.

She didn't remember bumping into Victoria and Alexander earlier.

Victoria, being naturally aloof, wouldn't initiate a greeting, so it was Marlowe who first nodded and smiled at her, to which she returned a smile.

At that moment, a deep, husky voice sounded, "Alexander, is this your future wife?"

Grant's eagle-like eyes glanced at Victoria.

Victoria met his gaze openly. She knew that Grant was Lila's uncle and had heard that he didn't live in Rihegde but in the neighboring Jakarda City, where he held the most power. She hadn't expected someone who didn't grow up in Rihegde to become good friends with these people.

"Not future wife, she is already my wife," Alexander said, taking a sip of tea.

It was clear that Alexander and the others respected Grant. At least when Grant arrived, they were not as casual as before. Especially Garrett and Caleb, who even toned down their usual roguish behavior.

"Grant, Marlowe, nice to meet you," Victoria greeted Grant and Marlowe, who was sitting next to him with her head down.

Grant squinted his eyes, looked at Victoria for a few seconds, then laughed and said, "Nice to meet you. No wonder Alexander likes you."

It was really just a simple dinner. The process was normal, mostly the guys talked while she and Marlowe listened. However, with Alexander there, it wasn't too boring for her as he would consider her.

But Marlowe was different. From beginning to end, Marlowe didn't speak to anyone or join the conversation. She just ate quietly and then sat with her head down, her presence almost negligible.

And Grant completely ignored his boring wife.

At nine o'clock, everyone dispersed and went home.

In a black luxury Lincoln car, the atmosphere was gloomy and oppressive.

"Tell me, why did you come to Rihegde?" as deep, cold voice sounded in the car, devoid of any emotional fluctuation, very steady.

It was precisely this steadiness that made it terrifying.

Marlowe tried not to be afraid, but her straight and stiff body betrayed her, and her hands on her knees kept fidgeting.

She looked up at Grant, who was leaning back in the car with his eyes closed, and said slowly, "I knew you were coming to Rihegde, so I followed."

In fact, she was there to see a friend.

Grant sneered, still with his eyes closed, and said indifferently, "Is that so?"

Marlowe's eyes showed a hint of panic, but she firmly confirmed it.

In front of Grant, she was always so humble, living cautiously for five years.

And she knew that he wasn't interested in her affairs and wouldn't investigate as long as she didn't cross his bottom line.

On the other side.

Victoria sat in the Maybach, watching the neon-lit streets flash by outside the window.

Next to her, Alexander was admiring her delicate profile.

She was looking at the scenery outside the window, and he was looking at her in the scenery.

Victoria, lost in her thoughts, didn't notice this.

Until a deep, warm, magnetic voice wrapped around her name and lingered in her ear.

"Victoria."

Hearing the voice, Victoria slowly turned her head and, by the fleeting light outside the car window and the dim yellow light inside the car, saw Alexander's handsome face.

She moved her lips and asked, "What's wrong?"
