Chapter 148 I Love You

Once the Howard family members left, Saskia gently asked, "Victoria, what brings you here?"

Victoria's recent actions had impressed Nathan, Preston, and Saskia. Her calm and confident demeanor suited the wife of the Howard family's leader. Alexander made the right choice.

When Alexander got back to Howard Villa, it was already three in the afternoon. Dylan had filled him in on what happened with Victoria.

"Are you going to Country M?" Alexander asked, narrowing his eyes at Victoria, who was half-lying in his arms.

Victoria, admiring his long fingers, nodded. "I got my mom's old apartment address from Adrian. I want to check it out. I came back to ask Saskia about my mom. She must have had relatives, and I want to look into it."

Alexander didn't stop her.

Suddenly, Victoria remembered something and quickly got up.

"What's wrong?" Alexander asked, puzzled.

Instead of answering, she took off her necklace in front of him. Alexander squinted slightly.

Victoria handed him the ring and extended her left hand, shaking it. Seeing his confusion, she frowned. "What are you waiting for? Put the ring on me."

She thought she was being clear enough, offering her hand for the ring.

Without a word, Alexander took the ring off the necklace and slipped it onto her finger. His heart swelled with emotion.

Her willingness to wear the ring publicly meant she was ready to acknowledge their marriage.

Victoria looked at the ring, unable to hide her happiness. She gently stroked it with her thumb.

"Alexander, marrying me is really your good fortune. You even saved on a proposal; we just went straight to registering our marriage," she joked.

Alexander chuckled, wrapped his arm around her waist, and looked at her with deep affection.

"It truly is my good fortune. Being your husband is the best and most fulfilling thing in my life," he said sincerely. His intense gaze always made her heart race.

She reached out to cover his eyes. "Don't look at me like that."

Alexander leaned close to her ear and softly said, "Victoria, I love you. Don't ever think of leaving me."

His words, especially "I love you," shocked her. It was the first time he had said those words.

Love and like are different, with different levels of intensity.

She was stunned. "I love you" carried so much meaning. It meant he would accept and tolerate everything about her, both good and bad.

She opened her mouth but didn't know how to respond.

Did she like him? Her heart said yes.

Did she love him? She had gone from being unaccustomed to his presence to feeling uneasy and missing him when he wasn't around. When he was in trouble, she worried and feared for him.

So, she must love him too, right?

Though inexperienced with feelings, Alexander was the only one who had ever made her heart flutter.

She didn't say those three words, but found another way to express them.
