Chapter 365 The Only Winner Will Be Me
Evening.
Kimberly had gathered all the information.
"Mrs. Howard, here is all the information you requested on Ms. Rivera." Kimberly handed over the file folder she was holding.
Victoria, sitting cross-legged on the living room sofa, took it but noticed Kimberly had another file in her hand.
Kimberly then said, "Mrs. Howard, please look at this one first."
Kimberly stood by, waiting. After a moment, she saw Victoria suddenly furrow her brows.
She asked in confusion, "Mrs. Howard, is there something wrong with the information?"
"They're half-sisters?" Victoria asked.
Kimberly nodded. "Yes, didn't you know?"
Victoria was a bit stunned. She didn't know; she had always thought Marlowe and Abigail were full sisters.
Moreover, the information showed that Abigail was only two years older than Marlowe.
Abigail's biological mother divorced her father when Abigail was one year old, and her father remarried a year later.
So, there was this story in the Rivera family.
The information showed that Abigail was a delinquent teenager, getting into fights, smoking, and hanging out in bars since middle school.
Even the college she attended was through connections.
But that didn't make sense. Although Victoria hadn't known Grant for long, she could judge people well. How could someone like him be with Abigail?
Kimberly then handed over the other file she was holding, "Mrs. Howard, please look at this one."
Victoria opened it and glanced at it. It was Marlowe's.
"Why is the content the same?" she looked up at Kimberly, puzzled.
Kimberly had been thorough when checking Abigail's information.
She didn't just check the database; she went to Abigail's former schools and contacted her old classmates. She found that the database information was completely opposite to what she had verified in person. Then she pulled Marlowe's information, which matched the database.
After hearing this, Victoria understood.
So Abigail and Marlowe's records had been swapped.
Why swap them?
Victoria didn't want to investigate further. She was just curious initially, but this led to discovering the swapped records.
But it didn't make sense either.
"Look into this further and let me know if you find anything."
"Yes, Mrs. Howard."
Meanwhile, in the study on the second floor.
Gideon was lounging on the sofa with his legs crossed, a sinister smile on his lips. "Alexander, what do you think will happen if I put Neil and Christopher together?"
Alexander, sitting at his desk, looked up slightly and said indifferently, "Do what you want. I'm not interested in guessing, just don't kill them."
His words, "just don't kill them," seemed to contradict the rumors of his ruthless nature.
Others didn't know Alexander well, but Gideon did.
Alexander wasn't sparing them out of kindness.
His ruthlessness wasn't about a quick kill; it was about making death seem like a mercy.
Mental and physical torment combined was the most terrifying and fearsome.
"By the way, did you say something to Keith?" Gideon gossiped a bit. "I went back there yesterday, and the old man said Keith beat up Thora. Thora ran back to the White family to complain, and they came straight over."
Alexander remained expressionless. "I just gave him a friendly reminder."
As Gideon was about to leave, he remembered something. "Alexander, are you free tomorrow? Come with me to check out some land?"
Alexander refused without hesitation, "No."
"Why not? The company won't go bankrupt if you're gone for a day."
"Spending time with my wife." Alexander glanced at him indifferently.
Gideon was speechless. "Then I'll ask Victoria if she can spare you for a morning."
"She has a perfume contest to attend tomorrow, and I need to be with her."
"Your wife makes perfume? With her status, why does she need to compete?"
"She's a judge, not a contestant," Alexander said with a hint of pride, which Gideon noticed.
The next day.
Alexander said he would be Victoria's driver for the day.
With a free, handsome, and attentive driver, why would she refuse?
After the couple left Serenity Grove Manor, Sawyer instructed the staff to quickly set up what the master had ordered.
This year's perfume contest finals were held at the famous Golden Pavilion in Rihegde, a hall that could accommodate nearly a thousand people.
Three entry and exit channels were set up outside the Golden Pavilion: one for contestants, one for judges and VIPs, and one for selected audience members, who also had the right to vote.
Besides the contestants and judges, the 500 selected audience members, and various invited business elites were present at the event.
"Are you sure you don't need me to save you a seat?" Victoria asked Alexander again.
He replied, "No need, I have a seat."
She looked puzzled. "What do you mean?"
Alexander pulled a ticket from his pocket. "I have this."
Victoria looked at it, thinking, 'Oh my, it is a VIP guest invitation ticket. Tilly is really bold to invite Alexander.'
"So, you agreed to come because I was here, right?" Her statement was more of a confirmation than a question.
She had that much confidence.
After all, Alexander never cared to attend such events.
Alexander admitted openly, "You know me well. Here's a reward." Then she leaned over and planted a kiss on his cheek, leaving a faint red lipstick mark.
"Oops, I forgot I was wearing lipstick." Victoria quickly took out a wet wipe to clean it off, but as she reached out, her hand was held.
Alexander saw the lipstick mark on his face in the rearview mirror and thought it looked quite nice.
"What's wrong?" she asked, puzzled.
"I think it looks good," he replied.
Victoria was slightly stunned. "You don't plan to get out of the car like this, do you?"
Alexander smirked. "Yes."
Victoria protested, "No, you'll attract too much attention. You're already eye-catching enough, and with that lipstick mark, you'll draw even more stares."
Alexander teased, "Can I take that as you being jealous?"
She didn't argue, "If you say so, fine. I just don't want people staring at you."
She was more worried about being photographed and ending up on social media.
She got out of the car first and waited while he parked.
Meanwhile, Clara, who was about to enter the venue, saw a familiar figure.
She walked a few steps closer and realized it was Victoria.
"What are you doing here?" Clara asked.
Victoria had her back to her and didn't see her. She turned around when she heard the voice.
Unexpectedly, they ran into each other.
Clara saw that Victoria just glanced at her indifferently and didn't answer her question.
She spoke again, "You're not here to compete, are you?"
Victoria still didn't respond.
Clara sneered, "Do you even qualify? Someone like you, banned by the international perfume committee, probably can't even get through the door!"
Victoria stood there with her arms crossed, looking at her with disdain..
"Victoria, today I'll show you how I become Master Deer's apprentice," Clara said with a mocking and proud look in her eyes. "And you'll never touch the perfume industry. The winner will always be me."
Victoria lazily lifted her eyes, responding as if she were bestowing a favor.
