Chapter 391 Engagement Invitations

As night fell, dinner was served in Nathan's yard, but his meal was taken to his room by the butler, Micah.

Alexander and his wife stayed at Howard Villa for the night, and nothing happened.

The next day, after breakfast, they went to see Nathan, who still looked very pale.

"Grandpa, why don't we go to the hospital? The medical equipment at home isn't complete," Victoria suggested.

Nathan refused without a second thought, "I just want to stay at home."

His tone was stubborn, almost like a child throwing a tantrum.

Butler Micah smiled and said, "Mrs. Howard, Mr. Nathan Howard might feel more comfortable and free at home."

Hearing this, Nathan nodded at Alexander and Victoria.

Alexander and his wife couldn't say much more.

"Well, you two go ahead and get busy. You don't need to stay with me; Micah is here," Nathan said, trying to get them to leave without raising suspicion.

Micah nodded in agreement.

"Remember to come back home tonight and keep me company. The rest of the time, you can take care of your own business."

The two of them agreed and left the room.

After they left, Victoria whispered to Alexander, "Dear, don't you think your grandpa's weak act is quite convincing? Where did he learn this acting?"

His acting was indeed good. If they didn't know the truth, they would have been fooled.

"Are you sure Grandpa didn't secretly take some acting classes?" she asked curiously, blinking.

Alexander replied, "Maybe he watches too many TV dramas when he's bored."

As soon as they left Howard Villa, Nathan sprang up from the bed, full of energy, and instructed Micah to call John to remove his cast.

Micah said, "Thank you, John."

After all, the cast would have to be put back on later.

There was no choice; the cast on his leg was uncomfortable, and Nathan could only take a break when Alexander and his wife were not around.

On the other side, Alexander dropped Victoria off at the research institute and then drove towards the company.

As Victoria approached the entrance of the research institute, she heard a familiar voice. "Vicky, over here."

She turned and saw Thomas standing under a tree not far behind her.

"You didn't go back?" Victoria asked, looking at him.

She thought he had left Rihegde after leaving Nine Heavens Casino that day.

After all, he hadn't shown up since then.

Thomas had waited for Alexander to leave before coming out. He had been waiting for her since early morning.

He didn't answer her question but instead looked in the direction Alexander had left and asked, "When's the wedding?"

Victoria blinked and answered honestly, "March 16th."

Thomas nodded. "Originally, Arnold and Chloe were also going to have their wedding in March, but Chloe got pregnant, so they had to postpone it."

She knew this, but she felt there was more to his words.

She narrowed her eyes and asked, "Thomas, what are you trying to say?"

Thomas looked at her deeply and changed his words, "Nothing, just feeling a bit emotional. I never thought I'd see you get married in my lifetime. I thought you'd be lonely with me forever."

Victoria rolled her eyes, speechless.

"Don't you have Betty with you?" she said lightly.

Thomas replied, "She'll get married eventually."

Victoria asked, "Are you willing to let her go?"

She actually wanted to say that Betty wouldn't leave.

Thomas didn't respond to her question.

He said, "Heaven's Net found some information about 103. I came to tell you about it."

"Windsor?" Victoria frowned. "Isn't Windsor the surname of the country's rulers?"

Thomas said, "Yes, the Kingdom of Serenia is led by the Windsor family, and Aidamore is led by the Sanders family. They are separated by the Whispering Pines Border."

"So, the people behind Base 103 are connected to the country's leaders?" Victoria asked.

"Yes, but we don't know exactly who. This person is very well hidden," Thomas said. "My people risked their lives to find out about their connection to the country's leaders. The other side is very vigilant."

Victoria's delicate face turned serious as she fell into deep thought.

If it really involved the country's leaders, some things would make sense.

It seemed she needed to find a reason to visit the Kingdom of Serenia.

But before she could find a reason, someone gave her one.

Two days later, she received an engagement invitation.

And the groom was none other than Bryan.

But the bride wasn't Ruth; it was someone else, someone connected to the Windsor family.

What troubled her was that Bryan had compromised, clearly a political marriage between the leaders.

After receiving the invitation, she immediately called him.

His lazy, casual voice came through, "Victoria, did you get the invitation?"

"Aren't you pursuing Ruth?" she got straight to the point.
