Chapter 437 It's Me
A already felt his face starting to go numb.
And there was a stinging sensation like ants biting.
This didn't seem like a normal wound.
Ronnie hesitated.
Victoria didn't waste any words. "It seems your master doesn't care much about you."
Her words were filled with coldness and sarcasm.
After speaking, she looked at another person named Cameron, slightly raising her chin. "In that case, it's your turn."
As for Ronnie, she automatically ignored him.
Cameron glanced at Ronnie, who gave no instructions.
Suddenly, Ronnie raised his gun, aiming at George.
Her expression instantly became panicked, and she took a few steps forward. "Ronnie, what are you doing?"
Ronnie turned his body slightly, looking at her sideways. "I never let anyone threaten me, and you're no exception!"
Victoria wasn't surprised by his words; selfishness and cold-bloodedness were always his trademarks.
"What do you want?" she asked, frowning and staring at his hand, not daring to let her guard down for a moment.
He smirked, "Come over here; kneel in front of me and beg."
Victoria frown deepened.
Ronnie couldn't stand her defiant attitude. No matter what he did, she never yielded. He was determined to break her spirit.
"I want to see how far you'll go for him," he sneered, his words dripping with mocking laughter. "I'll give you five seconds to decide."
George shook his head at her, clearly signaling her not to agree.
Victoria bit her lower lip.
When Ronnie counted to "two," she agreed to his demand.
She took a few more steps forward and stood in front of him. "I hope you don't regret this!"
Although she was in a dire situation, her inherent pride wouldn't allow her to be so weak.
Under everyone's gaze, she slowly knelt down on one knee, her head slightly lowered, not looking at anyone.
Surprise flickered in Ronnie's eyes before he burst into laughter. His emotions were a whirlwind: pleased that she had submitted, but furious that she did it for someone else. In that moment, he was intensely jealous of George.
A gunshot rang out.
Victoria quickly looked up in the direction of the sound.
George only let out a light groan as the shot fired by him hit George's left calf.
"I'm not satisfied with your attitude," George said.
He tilted his head and twisted his neck, his green eyes staring at her, his face contorted with a dark expression.
She knelt on the ground, her hands clenched into fists.
"Ronnie, I know I'm the one you hate," she took a deep breath and said. "Take your anger out on me; don't hurt the people around me."
Seeing Ronnie frown, she quickly added, "So now, I'm begging you to let him go, and I'll let you do whatever you want with me!"
As soon as she finished speaking, someone shouted, "Master, watch out."
Cameron, standing behind Ronnie, suddenly pounced on him, and the two rolled on the ground.
Then gunshots rang out.
Several people in camouflage uniforms appeared on the cliff to the right.
They fired a few shots at Ronnie and his men.
Victoria turned her head to look.
She quickly reacted, pushing herself up with one hand, and ran towards George.
Marigold followed her.
Ronnie came to his senses, his face changing. "Stop her!"
Seeing the people in camouflage uniforms rushing up, his face turned even uglier.
He roared, "Victoria, you're tricking me again! Kill them all! Leave no one alive!"
Victoria had just reached George and was about to grab the rope when a gunshot rang out.
The rope was cut.
"No!" She lunged forward, grabbing the broken rope.
The sudden drop and weight almost made her lose her grip, and she was dragged forward.
"Ms. Kennedy, be careful." Marigold, behind her, grabbed her in time. Half of her body was hanging off the cliff.
"Marigold, pull the rope," Victoria gritted her teeth, struggling to speak.
The recent movements had aggravated the wound on her back, making her whole body tremble.
The two of them pulled hard, almost bringing George up.
Marigold suddenly let go, falling onto Victoria's back.
Victoria heard Marigold's groan and a gunshot.
She had wrapped the rope around her arm several times, holding on tightly. Even though the rope cut into her hand, turning it purple and bleeding, she gritted her teeth and held on.
She turned her head slightly to look at Marigold on her back, calling out, "Marigold?"
Marigold didn't move.
But Victoria felt a warm flow on her neck.
Then she heard Ronnie's voice behind her. "You even brought special forces, Victoria. Since you keep tricking me, I'll take you down with me."
He laughed maniacally after speaking.
At that moment, a gunshot rang out, and his laughter abruptly stopped.
Victoria didn't feel the pain of being hit by a bullet.
Then she felt a lightness on her back, and a warm hand covered hers holding the rope.
The fingers were long, well-defined, and strangely familiar.
She turned to look at the person beside her.
Seeing who it was, she was shocked, her eyes immediately reddening.
"Darling," she stared at his profile, whispering, her voice choked. Was she hallucinating?
"It's me." Alexander didn't look at her, but seemed to understand her thoughts.
When she heard Alexander's voice, she felt an immense sense of relief.
When George was pulled up, he was already unconscious.
She was helped to sit on the ground, looking at the unconscious George and Marigold, who had also fainted after taking a bullet for her.
She looked at Alexander, her voice trembling, "Save them first, please?"
Alexander was untying the rope from her arm, and hearing her choked voice, he looked up at her.
Seeing her panicked and fearful expression, and her red eyes, his heart ached.
He had never seen her so flustered and scared.
All his frustration and anger seemed to dissipate upon seeing her.
He softly said, "Don't worry; Owen is here."
Owen regretted not bringing an assistant; he was completely overwhelmed.
At that moment, Alexander's main concern was her.
The marks and wounds on her hands were driving him crazy.
He didn't know how much self-control he needed to suppress his rage.
