Chapter 178 Falling in Love Equals Unemployment
"Ms. Scott, cut me some slack," Donna said, shooting a look at Lila, who had that gossipy glint in her eye. Donna's eye twitched a bit.
Donna and Harrington an item? No way.
Lila looked kinda bummed. "Even if it was true, so what? I'm not some control freak boss; I don't mess with my artists' love lives."
Donna just kept quiet.
Dating as an idol? Might as well kiss her career goodbye, right?
And once again, Julia got totally ignored.
Right then, Julia's manager, Linda Sanchez, finally showed up.
Linda, hitting thirty, was a big shot in the biz. Julia wasn't her only client.
But compared to Patrick, she still had to call him "senior" out of respect.
On her way over, she already knew who Julia had scrapped with.
Honestly, she didn't really wanna deal with a hothead like Julia, but hey, a job was a job.
Julia was a handful, but the money and perks were sweet, so she had to stick it out.
But she didn't wanna piss off the other side either, so she just smiled and said, "Ms. Scott, yeah, this one's on us. Let's not blow it up. We'll apologize and make it right."
Linda's words made the once cocky Julia look like she swallowed a lemon.
"Linda, no way I'm..." Julia started to protest about apologizing to Donna.
But Linda cut her off, "Julia, this is on us. Lucas said so."
Hearing Lucas's name, Julia clammed up. She was pretty scared of Lucas. She used to have Clara backing her up, but even Clara was losing her edge now.
Victoria and Lila were kinda taken aback.
Since they'd already laid it out, Lila didn't have much else to say. Better to keep it quiet and save on PR costs.
In the end, Julia grudgingly apologized and bailed.
Lila watched Julia leave and asked, "Think Julia's got a thing for Harrington?"
She'd been dying to ask but held back 'cause of the crowd.
Victoria hadn't said a peep, but it was clear Julia had a thing for Harrington. Otherwise, she wouldn't have lost it and smacked Donna just for chatting with him.
"Probably," she replied.
Then Lila turned to Donna, all serious, "Were you really just talking script with Harrington?"
Donna, cool as a cucumber, covered her face, which wasn't as puffy anymore, and said firmly, "Yep."
In a private room at Starlight Diner, Donna, all bundled up in a hat and scarf, with just her bright eyes peeking out, pushed the door open and walked in.
Harrington grinned at her. "Looks like you're here for some secret mission."
Donna quickly ditched the hat and scarf, sighed in relief, and muttered, "Ridgewood's getting colder, or I'd be roasting." Plopping down next to him, she grumbled, "Meeting you, I gotta be sneaky. If your fans saw me, they'd totally freak and roast me."
Harrington smiled and poured her a glass of water, all affectionate-like.
He had this killer smile, with these gentle eyes.
His features were sharp, and while each part might seem average alone, together they were perfect. His charming eyes, a strong nose, and lips that always had a hint of a smile.
Harrington didn't say much but glanced at her right cheek before gently asking, "Still hurt?"
Donna took a sip of water and said softly, "Nah, it's fine now."
Today on set, her mom had called Harrington, asking him to talk her into coming home, which led to the scene Julia saw.
Who would've thought the famous actor Harrington was Donna's uncle?
"Sorry you got hurt," Harrington had already heard the whole story from his manager.
"It's cool. I didn't get hurt for nothing. Those slaps were just part of the act." Donna was actually a laid-back girl, but her company had given her this sweet public image she had to keep up 'cause she loved the biz.
"Are you tight with Julia?" Donna asked.
"Not really," Harrington replied.
Donna instantly got that Julia had a one-sided crush on Harrington.
But it wasn't shocking. Even though Harrington was thirty, he kept his skin in check, worked out, had a killer body, and was mature and charming. Any woman would dig him. He could've coasted on his looks, but he made it big with his talent.
Harrington had both the looks and the skills.
Harrington suddenly said, all mysterious, "Got someone I wanna introduce you to later."
