Chapter 396 Absolutely Ridiculous

Sarah sneered, "I don't care at all. What's so great about your Hughes Mansion? You've really overestimated yourselves!"
She continued, "Don't forget, it's you who are asking me, not the other way around!"
She had acted in so many plays and seen all kinds of scripts, but she never thought that one day, such an absurd and ridiculous dramatic scene similar to a script would actually happen to her.
Soren's nostrils flared with anger, and his rage intensified.
Sarah wasn't afraid of them. "Isn't it the truth? You brought me here without a word. I'm in my twenties, and now you're introducing me to a so-called stepfather. Don't you think your Hughes family is ridiculous?"
"Even TV dramas wouldn't dare to write such a plot, right?" she questioned. "I could totally call the police for your behavior!"
The Hughes family members looked at each other when they heard she wanted to call the police. They weren't afraid of the police, but the Hughes family cared about their reputation and wouldn't want to involve the authorities.
Soren wanted to say something, but his eldest son, Algernon, stopped him.
Algernon always wore a kind smile on his face.
He said, "Sarah, I apologize on behalf of your grandfather."
Sarah rolled her eyes!
Before this, she had never met or known anyone from the Hughes family.
They were absolutely ridiculous!
"Stop this nonsense!" Sarah said, frowning. "I'll say it once more: I have no family left in this world. I'm an orphan."
She deliberately slowed down her speech and emphasized the last part.
But Algernon acted as if he didn't hear her and continued with a kind smile, "It was our fault for not bringing you back to the Hughes family all these years. Before this, we thought you were always with your family and didn't want to disturb you. We were also afraid that suddenly bringing you to the Hughes family would make you uncomfortable."
Sarah listened quietly without interrupting him, just to see what other nasty things he could say to disgust her.

She heard Sarah's distant voice, "Mrs. Hughes, are you sure I'm your daughter?"
Claire opened her mouth but didn't said anything when Sarah continued, "But in my memory, my mother is already dead. Otherwise, how could she be so heartless to abandon her own daughter for over a decade without any care?"
Claire's mind buzzed again. If she weren't sitting, she might not be able to stand.
No one noticed her body stiffening and growing cold, her hand clenched tightly, nails digging into her flesh.
She seemed to feel no pain.
Sarah directly ignored the fleeting paleness on Claire's face.
