Chapter 244 You're Not Against It?
Victoria didn't even blink. "I'm heading back to the research lab."
Alexander was caught off guard for a sec, then a sly grin crept onto his face. He should've seen this coming.
During that lecture, she was in her element. The confidence, the sparkle in her eyes, and that little smirk—she was savoring every second. She was like a shining star, impossible to ignore. She was never just some ordinary woman.
In his deep, smooth voice, Alexander said, "Do whatever makes you happy."
She tilted her head up, her almond eyes wide. "You're not against it?"
Seeing her puzzled look, Alexander chuckled. "Why would I be?"
Victoria got serious. "Do you even know what it means if I go back to the lab?"
Alexander's brow furrowed. 'Is there something about being a researcher that I'm missing?'
He pressed his lips together. "What does it mean?"
Victoria touched his cheek, her eyes softening. With a flutter of her lashes, she said, "It means you're about to be one lonely dude."
Alexander's frown deepened.
She went on, "Once I'm back in the lab, it's all research, all the time. I could be in there for days, weeks, even months without coming out."
She raised an eyebrow. "You sure you still wanna support me? Don't you wanna see me every day?" Seeing his frown deepen and his face darken, she felt a weird sense of joy.
If that was the case, Alexander definitely wouldn't back her return. Not seeing her for a day was already pushing it for him.
"But..." Before he could say anything, she switched it up. "I'm not just anyone. I won't get lost in my work. I'll leave on time because I can't live without you, either."
Alexander went quiet. He realized she was messing with him.
That line, "I can't live without you, either," hit him right in the feels. His frown eased, and his face lightened up.
"It better be that way," he said, his voice cold but with a hint of a warning.
But then another issue popped up. "The lab's abroad. You planning to fly back and forth every day?"
Alexander squinted at her. No way she was moving abroad just for a job, right?
Victoria replied, "I know you could afford to fly me to work every day, but I can't handle the jet lag. Would you really want to see me struggle with that?"
She placed her hands on his broad shoulders, pulling her face close to his, locking eyes.
Her breath brushed against his stern face, sending shivers down his spine.
Right now, she was like a soft vine, wrapping around him.
Alexander grabbed her waist, pulling her closer, and with his other hand, he pinched her chin, squinting. "You're not going abroad. I'm rich enough to move the lab to Rihegde."
No way he was letting her move abroad. First, he didn't want them apart, and second, Alan was still hung up on Victoria over there.
