Chapter 117 Adrian Meets Victoria
Rebecca was floored when Adrian suddenly blew up at her.
Anthony, lying in bed, was just as shocked.
"What do you mean I spoiled him? Isn't Anthony your son?" Rebecca shot back.
Adrian only had one son, Anthony, who was set to inherit the entire Barnes family fortune.
"If he wasn't my son, would I go to such lengths to fix his messes? He's the sole heir and will take over everything one day. But look at him—22 years old and still acting like a kid, wasting time at bars and harassing women. It's a miracle he hasn't gotten himself killed!
And it's because you spoil him, letting him do whatever he wants. He thinks he's untouchable. He's uneducated and hangs out with losers. How can he inherit the Barnes family legacy? You better hope he hasn't messed with the wrong person this time, or we'll all go down with him!"
Adrian fumed at Rebecca and Anthony.
Rebecca, still in shock, tried to comfort Anthony. "Don't mind your father. He's just trying to scare you."
Adrian got even angrier. "Let's see how long you can protect him!"
He stormed out, slamming the door. Rebecca didn't care about his exit.
She didn't believe anyone in Jakarda City could challenge the Barnes family. She knew Adrian was worried about the company's reputation, but their position in the city was rock-solid.
Adrian's assistant showed up with a report.
"Mr. Barnes, here are the details. The girls Mr. Anthony Barnes ran into last night are from average backgrounds. The woman who kicked him is the CEO of Horizon Group in Rihegde. The other two are just ordinary people."
"Horizon Group?" Adrian thought the name sounded familiar.
"It's a company focused on perfume brands. They just launched a new product and entered a new market. They also have a subsidiary in film and entertainment," the assistant explained.
Adrian remembered hearing about it in the media recently. He hadn't realized the CEO was a woman.
But the Barnes family wasn't worried about a small company.
The assistant added, "She's also a member of the Kennedy family in Rihegde, but she's not favored there."
The Kennedy family in Rihegde was no match for the Barnes family in Jakarda City.
"Set up a meeting with her. I need to talk to her face-to-face," Adrian ordered.
"Understood," the assistant replied.
Half an hour later, in a hotel's coffee lounge, Adrian met Victoria. He was struck by her beauty and felt a sense of familiarity.
"Ms. Kennedy, hello. I'm Adrian, Anthony's father. I'm here about what happened last night," he said directly.
Victoria was a bit surprised.
Half an hour earlier, she got a call saying someone from the Barnes family wanted to meet. She arranged the meeting at her hotel.
So, this was the head of the Barnes family. He looked the part, confident and composed.
"Hello, Mr. Barnes. I don't think I need to introduce myself. If you found me, you must already know who I am," she said bluntly.
Adrian didn't mind. Her straightforwardness reminded him of an old friend.
"You're right. I had to look into you, Ms. Kennedy. My son was seriously injured, and this needs an explanation," he said.
