Chapter 76 The Understanding Clara

Clara's face tightened a bit, and she hesitated before saying, "Yeah, we've been practicing together since we were kids."

Julia, looking annoyed, felt it was unfair to Clara and sarcastically said, "Of course she would, she just uses Clara's music sheet."

Clara quickly grabbed Julia's hand, signaling her to stop. "Julia, don't say that."

Julia, remembering how Victoria had tricked her twice before, got angry, and Clara couldn't stop her.

Julia continued, "I'm telling you all, Victoria used the same music sheet as Clara in that piano competition years ago."

Julia didn't care if it was appropriate; she just wanted to expose Victoria's nasty side to everyone.

"What same music sheet?" someone asked, confused.

Julia's lips curled into a smug smile. "Victoria plagiarized Clara's music sheet to enter the competition!"

Everyone was shocked. How did they not know?

They knew Victoria often tried to harm Clara, but they didn't know she also plagiarized.

Someone questioned, "I remember something happened during Clara's competition that year. The final performance was canceled, but I don't know the details."

Julia sneered, "The one that got canceled was Victoria's performance because she plagiarized. Luckily, Clara performed before her. The organizers had to keep it quiet to avoid a scandal."

After Julia's explanation, everyone understood.

Brent then said seriously, "I was there at the time. It's true."

Hearing Brent, everyone believed it even more.

"Oh my God, Clara, it’s bad enough that Victoria was so cruel to you, but using plagiarism is truly shameful," someone said.

"Yeah, I've heard she always makes things difficult for you in the Kennedy family, but you still defend her. She doesn't deserve your kindness!" someone added.

"Exactly, you're so kind and gentle. How could you have such an ungrateful sister? It's disgusting!" someone else said.

Listening to everyone's harsh words about Victoria, Clara looked uncomfortable. She softly said, "I appreciate all of you having my back, but she's still my sister. It's my duty to defend her. Please don't speak ill of her."

Her understanding only made everyone feel more sorry for her.

"Clara, I know you're kind, but there's no need to be kind to someone like Victoria," Julia said angrily. "You're kind to her, but she doesn't appreciate it. Have you forgotten how she forced you to take sleeping pills and pushed you into the pond? You almost died, and you're still defending her. If it weren't for your usual kindness and luck, Victoria would have killed you long ago!"

No one else knew about this.

Hearing this, Brent's face grew serious. He looked at Clara nervously, about to speak when a female voice came from the back of the crowd. "Kind? Why don't you say she was just too chicken to follow through? She didn't put in enough effort herself."

The crowd parted, revealing two beautiful girls standing behind them.

"Who are you?" someone asked.

Not many people there knew Victoria and Lila.

Lila was low-key and never attended these high-society events, so no one knew she was from the Scott family.

As for Victoria, she rarely appeared in public after Esme passed away. The Kennedy family didn't allow it, and she didn't want to.

But her name was well-known in high-society circles, thanks to Clara and Julia's constant "promotion."

Lila sneered, "Julia, your ability to twist the truth has really improved!"

Seeing them, Julia got angry, not knowing where her confidence came from. "That's the truth."

Lila wasn't afraid to argue. "Clara wanted to die herself. How can you blame Victoria? If that's not twisting the truth, what is? Or is there something wrong with your brain?" Lila shot back.

Julia stammered, "Lila, you..."

"You what!" Lila interrupted, "I don't even bother arguing with brainless people like you." Victoria didn't care to explain, but Lila couldn't tolerate them slandering Victoria. "Let me ask you, did you take the sleeping pills voluntarily?" Lila directed this at Clara, who was pretending to be weak.

Clara didn't expect this question. After a moment of surprise, her face turned pale, and she lowered her head slightly, a calculating look in her eyes. She hesitated before saying, "Yes, it's all my fault. It has nothing to do with Victoria. Please don't misunderstand." She bit her lip and raised her head, speaking to everyone.

But her earlier demeanor made it seem like Lila had forced her to say so.

Hearing Clara defend Victoria again, Julia got even angrier. "Clara, are you stupid? Even now, you're defending her. She clearly forced you to take the pills. If the servants hadn't found you in time, do you think you'd still be here?"

"Julia, stop it. It's all in the past, and I'm fine now, so let's leave it be." Clara ambiguously advised the angry Julia, showcasing her kindness and understanding.

Brent, with a gloomy face, looked at her with pity. "Clara, you went through such a big ordeal; why didn't you tell me? How are you now?"

Clara replied, "I'm fine, don't worry."

Lila squinted at them, finding it amusing. Brent was an idiot too.

"And Victoria knew Clara couldn't swim and still threw her into the pond. If that's not attempted murder, what is?" Julia pointed at Victoria.

Everyone realized that the cold beauty in front of them was the infamous Victoria from the Kennedy family. She was much more beautiful than Clara.

Most people in the crowd would choose to support Clara, especially since Brent from the Green family supported her. Victoria and Lila, on the other hand, had no background, so anyone with a sense of timing would choose to support those with a background.

"What's the use of having such a beautiful face with such a malicious heart?" someone scolded.

"Exactly, I've heard she competed with Clara for affection since they were kids, wanting to take everything. The Kennedy family isn't hers alone," someone added.

"I also heard her private life has been chaotic since she was young, always causing trouble and messing around with disreputable people," someone said.

"Yes, I remember rumors that she even got people to bully Clara in middle school," someone said.

"She's done all this, and Clara still defends her. She's too kind; I couldn't do it," someone said.
