Chapter 475 Met Once
The Next Morning
Victoria had been discharged from the hospital.
Originally, they were supposed to return to Aidamore, but Zephyr insisted they stay, even arranging a house for them. As luck would have it, Victoria heard Griffin was returning soon, so she decided to remain. Alexander had no objections—wherever she was, that was where he would be.
Since Marigold's injuries hadn't fully healed, Victoria arranged for her to stay at the hospital with Russell and Nancy taking turns caring for her.
"Darling, what kind of person is Griffin?" Victoria asked, lounging on the sofa and striking up conversation with Alexander, who had just finished a video conference.
Alexander leaned back against the sofa, tilting his head and pinching the bridge of his nose. After a moment, he replied thoughtfully, "He puts on an act of being weaker than he is."
"What makes you say that?" she moved closer, resting her chin on his collarbone and gazing up at his handsome face.
Alexander glanced down at her, his arm sliding around her waist. With a gentle motion, he pulled her onto his lap.
"Of Mr. Windsor's three adopted children, Waverly is the most high-profile, while the other two keep a lower profile," he explained. "Griffin is the most secretive—publicly a researcher, but behind the scenes, he has connections in both criminal organizations and government circles. Hawk, on the other hand, maintains a middle ground—solid, reliable, the youngest professor at Void College in Country M, and simultaneously one of the most renowned attorneys in the world—a true star in legal circles."
Her eyes sparkled with curiosity. "I see. Have you dealt with them before?"
Alexander nodded slightly. "Initially, I wasn't aware of Griffin's connection to Organization 103. Looking back, everything he did seems to have been laying groundwork for them."
Victoria hadn't previously paid much attention to legal matters, but this conversation jogged her memory. She realized she had actually met Hawk once before, through Philip.
After discussing a bit more and sharing some playful banter, Alexander received a call and had to return to work. He'd already postponed numerous business matters to stay with her.
Just then, her phone rang. It was Adrian.
"Hello, Adrian," Victoria answered.
Adrian's voice came through urgently, "Victoria, can you reach Bryan? Ruth went to Aidamore days ago, and I haven't heard from her since. I can't get in touch with her at all."
When she'd seen Adrian's name on the caller ID, she'd suspected this might be the issue.
She frowned slightly. It had been several days—what was Bryan playing at? Despite his seemingly carefree demeanor, he usually operated with clear principles.
Sighing inwardly, she reassured Adrian, "Don't worry, I'll handle this. Ruth will be fine, I promise."
After hanging up, she immediately dialed Bryan's number, relieved when it connected. It rang for what seemed like ages before he finally answered.
The sounds coming through the phone left her speechless and embarrassed. She glanced at the time—it wasn't even noon yet!
Gritting her teeth, she lowered her voice. "Bryan, have you no shame?"
Bryan, his voice husky and interspersed with suggestive heavy breathing, dismissed her with a quick. "I'll call you back when I'm finished," before hanging up.
Victoria sat in stunned silence.
At two in the afternoon, Bryan finally returned her call.
Before answering, she took a deep breath. 'Stay calm,' she thought.
"Vicky, what's up?" Bryan's cheerful voice came through.
Victoria narrowed her eyes. "Do you have any idea what's happened to me?"
