Chapter 10 Lily's Notebook

On the other hand, at Riverside Villa, Edward remained stunned for several seconds after being hung up by his strong-willed ex-wife.

He thought, 'She is so decisive and ruthless. She is no longer the wife who used to cry and beg me not to divorce her.'
For three years, she didn't really love him at all. She was just compromising for some unknown purpose, and Edward was burning with anger.

"Mr. Wellington, your coffee," Bart walked in and saw Edward's serious expression. He couldn't help but ask tentatively, "Have you been able to contact Mrs. Wellington? Did you get her new phone number?"

Edward rubbed his forehead in frustration. He was so consumed with anger that he hadn't accomplished anything. He had thought that he would finally get what he wanted once Lily left, but now he was annoyed because she was with Landon.

He thought, ‘How dare she! What gives her the right to affect my emotions?’

"Let's try again another time. I don't want to talk about that woman right now."

Edward picked up the coffee cup and took a sip, frowning suddenly.

"What's wrong with this coffee? It tastes off."

"I, I made it according to the recipe Mrs. Wellington gave me. How could this happen?" Bart scratched his head in surprise.

"Recipe?"

"Before Mrs. Wellington left, she gave me a little notebook. It detailed your preferences, including what you don't like and how to make your favorite coffee. She even wrote down the exact dates and months when you had a bite of a certain dish."

He said that Bart had taken out the small notebook from his pocket and handed it to Edward.

Edward took it, hesitated for a moment, and slowly opened it.

Neat and orderly characters came into view, reminding him of how Lily used to be.

[Add a pinch of salt to coffee for extra flavor. Edward likes it.]

[I made a seafood congee cooked with fresh shrimp for Edward in the morning, and he had two bowls. I can make it for him more often in the future.]

[Edward doesn't really like overly sweet food. I can make refreshing desserts like chocolate mousse or lemon cake. Maybe Edward will like them.]

[The ties I bought for Edward last year. He hasn't used any with red elements. It seems like Edward dislikes red...]

Edward.

Edward.

Edward.

Every word and every sentence was about him.

Edward flipped through the pages, holding his breath as if afraid he would blow away the words on top of them.

His emotions gradually became complex, and he crumpled the paper.

"She is so good at understanding people's hearts. If she doesn't have sinister motives, then what else could it be?"

Although Edward felt troubled by what was written in the notebook, he was still angry. He raised his hand and threw the notebook into the trash can.

"Hey, don't throw that! Mr. Wellington, this is Mrs. Wellington's hard work over the past three years. If Mrs. Wellington didn't care about you, why would she keep these things in silence? It shows how important you are to her!" Bart hurried to pick up the items, feeling extremely regretful.

"Don't call her Mrs. Wellington anymore. She doesn't deserve it!"

At this moment, there was a commotion outside the study.

It was coming from the right side of the corridor.

And that room used to belong to Lily.

"Go out and see what's going on." Edward rubbed his temples wearily.

Bart hurried out of the study and soon returned, his expression complicated.

"Mr. Wellington, it was Ms. Adams who caused the disturbance. She... she..."

"What happened to Nicole?"

"She threw everything from your ex-wife's bedroom out."

Nicole was currently going crazy, wreaking havoc in Lily's room.

"Bitch... bitch! You country girl, you're just being arrogant because of Byron's favoritism. What's so great about the useless bracelet you got? How dare you look down on me!"

When Evelyn signed the divorce agreement in the past, she didn't take anything with her, which gave Nicole the opportunity to act like this. Nicole threw her skincare products and the decorations on her desk onto the ground like trash.

When Edward arrived, the floor was already a mess.

"Nicole! What are you doing?" He furrowed his brows tightly.

"I hate the traces of your past life and Lily's presence here!"

Seeing Edward's arrival, Nicole started crying again. "If it wasn't for her, how could we have missed three whole years? It was clearly her who stole my position. Why does she still act like I harmed her? It makes me look like a mistress!"

"Nicole, you are not a mistress. Don't overthink it."

Edward's gaze grew cold. He bent down to pick up the broken gemstone mouse.

Suddenly, he froze and realized that the little thing was actually blinking one eye and making a peace sign with its small claw.

He couldn't help but smile faintly.

Meanwhile, Nicole opened the wardrobe and started randomly throwing Lily's clothes.

"What's this?"

She casually opened a large box, only to find an exquisite, well-tailored men's suit made from high-quality fabric.

"Heh, this must be a gift she prepared for Mr. Taylor, right? She must have already found another man for herself a long time ago."

After hearing this, Edward's expression turned gloomy. He walked over and took the box.

"Edward, this woman is truly despicable! I thought she married you because she loved you and would sincerely take care of you. But it turns out she was just trying to seduce a wealthy man and treated you like a fool!"

Nicole's eyes welled up. She picked up the fruit knife from the coffee table and rushed towards the suit , ready to tear it apart.

Edward reacted swiftly and held the box in front of him for protection.

As a result, the knife directly slashed his arm, and his white shirt was soaked in deep red blood!

"Ah! I'm s-sorry, Edward!" Nicole dropped the knife from her hand. She covered her mouth in fear, her mind blank except for tears.

"Oh my! What's happening here?" Tiffany hurriedly arrived with her servant. Edward was injured, and the dripping blood stained the white carpet. She was also greatly frightened. "Edward! How could you guys resort to violence?"

"Bart, send Ms. Adams home in a car," Edward endured the pain and took a breath helplessly.

"Edward, I don't want to go back... I want to be with you!" Nicole desperately held onto him.

"Yes, Edward, it's so late. Let Nicole stay here. You're injured, and she can take care of you," Tiffany took the opportunity to express her opinion.

From her vested interest, she wished she could send Nicole to Edward's bed tonight!

"No need. Let her go home for now," unexpectedly, Edward's attitude was resolute.

"Sooner or later, Nicole will marry you..."

"When she marries me in the future, we'll have plenty of time together. She should go home before marriage. She can spend more time with her family. Besides, my divorce procedures with Lily haven't been finalized yet. It's not appropriate for Nicole to stay here," Edward explained.

Since Edward had made up his mind, Tiffany couldn't do anything about it.

Nicole, crying, was sent away. Edward looked at the mess on the floor and sighed heavily. He instructed the servant to clean up the room.

"Mr. Wellington, come and see!"

Bart stood in front of the wardrobe in astonishment and took out an exquisite set of costumes from inside.

Edward walked over and examined the clothes. They were made of soft powder-pink fabric and depicted vivid roses. At a glance, he knew the clothes were of great value.

What charming roses!

Edward blinked, lost in thought.

"Could it be that Mrs. Wellington is also an opera singer? She's so talented!" Bart couldn't help but marvel. Evelyn had amazed him several times that day.

Such a confident and beautiful woman. He couldn't understand why Edward didn't like her.

"Haven't you heard the saying?" Edward's thin, slightly upturned lips formed a straight line. An indescribable restlessness surged in his chest.

"Ah?"

"Actors and whores are both heartless!"
