Chapter 472 Preparing to Marry In
Edward went from being injured, rescued, and in a deep coma, to waking up in less than half a month.
For an ordinary person, they might not have made it out of the emergency room. Even if they did, they could be in a coma for one or two months, or even longer.
Adrian later analyzed that, besides his naturally stronger physique, his long military life also contributed to his increased resilience to external injuries.
After dawn, Evelyn accompanied Edward for a full-body check-up.
Throughout the process, Edward was as obedient as a child being taken to the doctor by his mother, following her instructions without a word.
"Have you ever seen Evelyn like this? She's radiating maternal glow all over."
Ulysses clicked his tongue twice, looking at Evelyn with jealousy as she knelt to cover Edward, who was in a wheelchair, with a blanket. "With Edward around, we brothers are just dolls in her attic. She won't even spare us a glance anymore."
"Well, who wouldn't feel sorry for Edward? Any woman would be heartbroken seeing him like this."
Eric, standing nearby, seized the chance to mock Ulysses, raising an eyebrow with a smirk, "Why don't you hurt yourself, chop off an arm or a leg, be more miserable than Edward, and maybe Evelyn will pay attention to you again."
"I'm Evelyn's real brother! We've been close since we were kids. I made all her toys by hand, tied her shoelaces, ate her leftovers, and cleaned up her messes!"
The more Ulysses spoke, the angrier he got, "Why! He just stole our precious sister, and now we have to compete for her affection? Why!"
"Why? Because Evelyn loves him." Eric yawned lazily, "Ulysses, I advise you to accept this fact sooner rather than later. After all they've been through, no one can separate them now."
"Ulysses, you're not young anymore. Stop being so impulsive."
Landon and Adrian walked over together, the soft, brilliant sunlight casting a golden outline around their outstanding figures.
"Mr. Clark is right. One day, you'll have to call Mr. Wellington your brother-in-law. Unless Evelyn never marries, you won't have another brother-in-law in this lifetime."
Though they were all men, the word "a perfect match" simultaneously popped into Ulysses and Eric's minds.
One was wild and charming, the other was elegant and reserved; one was handsome and resolute, the other was beautiful and delicate.
But alas, Adrian was a man. If he were a woman, they would be truly made for each other."Just wait, in the future, Edward must marry into the Taylor family!"
"Marry in? Sure, sure!" Eric immediately agreed on Edward's behalf, "Mr. Taylor can support Donna, Joyce, Susan, and nine kids. Adding Edward won't be a problem."
Adrian chuckled. Hearing this, Landon turned to look at Adrian beside him.
As if telepathically connected, Adrian also looked at him at that moment, and their eyes met.
Landon's heart trembled slightly, and he pretended to look away calmly.
But the dry gulp in his throat revealed a trace of his nervousness.
"When Edward marries in, I'll have him cook every day and wash dishes every day!" Ulysses shouted to the sky.
"You're underestimating Edward. Cooking is nothing. You should have him massage your legs and wash your feet!" Eric raised his eyebrows excitedly, as if he couldn't wait to see Edward's life after marrying in.
Meanwhile, Evelyn finished the check-up with Edward and pushed the wheelchair over to them.
"What are you all smirking about? Are you talking bad about us?" Evelyn glanced suspiciously at Eric and Ulysses.
Luckily, Simon wasn't here, or the hospital roof would have been blown off.
"Mr. Wellington is in high favor. How dare I act out?" Ulysses said sarcastically.
"Alright, Ulysses, enough is enough." Landon scolded lightly.
Evelyn sighed helplessly, "Ulysses, I can already picture your future wife's situation. If she looks at another man, will you scold her for a whole day?"
"Scold her for a day? I'll make sure she can't get out of bed for three days!"
Everyone fell silent.
Edward watched their banter, the light-hearted atmosphere infecting him, and he couldn't help but smile.
In the past, he would have been jealous, too. But not now. He knew this was how the Taylor family interacted, and they said these things because they loved Evelyn too much to let her go.
What he needed to do was to get used to it, understand it, and integrate into it.
"Everyone's here today."
They turned around to see Wade and Nancy walking hand in hand like a newlywed couple.
"Finally, it's all over, and it's great to see everyone together."
Nancy looked at Edward, who was gradually regaining color under Evelyn's care, and smiled with relief. "Mr. Wellington, how are you feeling?"
"Much better. I'll be discharged tomorrow and take Evelyn back." Edward's attitude was humble and polite, neither servile nor overbearing.
"Tomorrow? Are you crazy!"
Evelyn placed her hand on his strong shoulder and pinched it angrily, "The doctor said that although you're recovering quickly and your blood regeneration is good, you're not yet fit for discharge. You need to stay at least another week!"
Edward placed his palm over her hand, gently rubbing it. "Sebastian is hiding in Mugden. I need to go back and catch him. The longer we wait, the more likely things will go wrong."
"And we need to interrogate Lloyd to get Tiffany. There are so many important things to do. My health is the least of our concerns."
They weren't overly intimate, but everyone could feel that their souls seemed to be intertwined.
"But you can't push yourself. Health is the foundation of everything! Have you ever thought about how much I..."
Edward felt a pang of guilt in his throat, gripping her hand tightly, unwilling to let go.
He knew what she wanted to say, even if she didn't say it.
"Edward, you should focus on recovering first," Wade advised earnestly.
Edward smiled gratefully, "Thank you for your concern. And thank you for donating blood to me. I owe you a big favor and will repay it in the future."
"Don't be so formal. Just call me brother-in-law, and we'll call it even!" Wade, away from politics, was straightforward and cheerful with his family.
Nancy nudged him gently, but he didn't react.
Then, Edward's clear voice responded, "Alright, brother-in-law."
Evelyn's lips pressed together, her face blushing.
Ulysses glared at Edward.
"If you must go back, it's not impossible." Landon spoke calmly, "Given your current situation, it's not suitable for the Wellington family to know. So, I've arranged for you to stay in the Taylor family's hospital, in a VIP room. The environment is good and private."
"Evelyn, don't worry too much. It's only a five-hour flight from Torontow to Mugden. The private jet has emergency medical facilities. He'll be fine."
"Yeah, and with me, the famous doctor, in charge, what are you afraid of?" Adrian raised his chin.
Eric said, "As famous as you are, can you be more famous than Evelyn?"
"What do you mean?" Adrian frowned.
"Evelyn is the White God. The White God is Evelyn. You didn't know that?"
Adrian stared in shock at Evelyn's calm face, then looked around at everyone, who seemed unperturbed.
So, everyone knew except him?
Adrian turned stiffly, leaning against the wall, head down, back to everyone.
Eric scratched his head. "What's wrong with him?"
Ulysses crossed his arms, "No idea. Maybe Evelyn's identity is too overwhelming for him."
