Chapter 94 Undercurrents at the Birthday Banquet
"Tiffany! So glad you're here!" Nicole was almost in tears.
The room buzzed as everyone turned to the entrance.
Edward and Eric walked in, stealing the spotlight.
All eyes were on these two elegant men from the Wellington family and the Clark family —either one alone could make hearts race!
Edward wore a black suit, looking serious and intimidating. Eric, in a white suit, looked clean and elegant.
"Oh my God, Edward and Eric are so handsome!"
"Seeing them both today is a dream come true!"
"Look at Edward's long legs and that face! Perfect!"
"And Eric's smile! It's killing me!"
Nicole nudged Debra, who was staring at Eric, and laughed, "Debra, look how popular Eric is. When are you going to win him over? You've had a crush on him for years."
"What's the rush? He'll be mine sooner or later!" Debra muttered.
"Even so, look at all those women after him. You need to step up."
Debra clenched her teeth, dreaming of being Eric's woman, Mrs. Clark of the Clark Group.
But remembering the day Eric humiliated her made her want to disappear.
'I can't give up; otherwise, Nicole will laugh at me forever!'
As Edward and Eric walked over, Nicole's heart leaped towards Edward. Just as she was about to approach him, everyone's attention shifted back to the entrance.
In the setting sun's light, a stunning figure appeared.
It was her nemesis—Lily!
"Lily, you're too beautiful," Eric murmured to himself.
Edward's eyes narrowed, feeling his blood pulse.
"Wow! Who is this gorgeous woman? She's so elegant!"
Praises echoed around.
Today, Evelyn wasn't in her usual evening gown but a custom dress in moon white and sky blue, embroidered with landscapes.
It made her look like the mistress of this mansion, outshining Nicole and Debra.
"Damn it! Why didn't I think of that!" Debra gritted her teeth.
Tiffany's face darkened.
Tiffany prided herself on her figure, but her outfit was overshadowed by Lily, leaving her annoyed.
Despite her best efforts, Tiffany was still outshone by the younger Lily!
Nicole noticed Edward hadn't taken his eyes off Lily since she walked in. Unease and resentment filled her, brewing malicious thoughts.
"Lily!" Eric waved.
Evelyn nodded and smiled.
Seeing Eric's enthusiasm, Debra was extremely jealous!
As Lily was about to pass by Edward, he suddenly grabbed her arm.
"Where are you going?"
"Certainly not staying by your side, Edward," Evelyn said, pulling her arm away with a faint smile.
Edward, frustrated, was about to speak when Tiffany and Nicole walked over.
"Lily, I'm so glad you could come. I thought you wouldn't make it."
Everyone speculated about Evelyn's relationship with the Wellington family.
"Tiffany, you worry too much. How could I not come? Byron has been looking forward to celebrating his birthday with Edward and me," Evelyn said gracefully.
Edward's eyes darkened.
The guests' gazes on Nicole grew more peculiar.
"The public announcement of the engagement caused quite a stir. Although Edward hasn't officially confirmed it, everyone in Mugden knows Nicole is Edward's fiancée. This lady's words make it seem like she's the legitimate one, and Ms. Adams is the third wheel."
"Yes, and look at this girl's demeanor. She must be from a noble family to have such an elegant presence. Who is she exactly?"
"This girl is even more beautiful than Nicole. She and Edward look like a match made in heaven!"
Nicole's face was about to collapse!
'Was Lily trying to block my path? By saying this, Lily was telling everyone that her relationship with Edward was special and that she was close to Byron! And what about me, the fiancée of the Wellington Group’s president? What did I count for?'
"Lily, we all know you have a good relationship with Byron," Tiffany said kindly, though her heart was sinister. "Where is Mr. Taylor from KnightSpear Group? Why didn't he come with you? Uncle Patrick personally sent him an invitation."
Everyone was shocked!
' Mr. Taylor? Landon?! The Wellington family and the Taylor family are arch-enemies. How could he attend Byron's birthday party?!'
Edward knew Tiffany was making things difficult for Lily, his eyes darkening.
Just as he was about to react, Evelyn calmly asked, "Tiffany, why must I come with Mr. Taylor?"
"Because he is your boyfriend."Tiffany's red lips curled into a mocking smile, exposing the truth. "Let me introduce everyone. This is Ms. Brown, Edward's ex-wife. But now, she is the girlfriend of Mr. Taylor, the president of KnightSpear Group."
