Chapter 335 Take Her to a Place

Evelyn didn't feel embarrassed. If she did, it would mean she was looking down on Gilbert.

"That's okay. Since we can't go in, we'll come back when it's open. Let's go."

Evelyn didn't want to trouble Gilbert and said lightly, "If you want to ride a horse, you can go to my family's ranch. It's the same."

Just as she turned to leave, Gilbert grabbed her hand and slowly tightened his grip. "Evelyn, don't go. We have to get in tonight."

Evelyn's fingertips trembled, and she instinctively tried to pull her hand away but couldn't.

Gilbert's tone was very assertive.

Since reconnecting with him, it was the first time she had seen this domineering side of him.

The two bodyguards exchanged a glance and said coldly, "You'd better leave quickly, or don't blame us for being rude. Mr. Alexander is inside entertaining guests, and no unauthorized persons are allowed to disturb him!"

Evelyn rolled her eyes.

"Oh, I see." Gilbert became calm and walked gracefully up to them. "What if I insist on going in?"

"Are you looking for trouble?" One of the bodyguards glared and made a move to push Gilbert.

Unexpectedly, before his hand could touch Gilbert's collar, he felt a blur in front of his eyes, and then his arm was broken, followed by a scream!

Evelyn's eyes widened in shock as she watched the bodyguard get thrown heavily to the ground by Gilbert with a swift over-the-shoulder throw, unable to get up!

The other bodyguard, seeing this, was furious and also lunged forward.

The same scream, the same broken arm.

"Evelyn, let's go." Gilbert casually pulled out a white handkerchief from his pocket and carefully wiped his hands, speaking to Evelyn in a gentle voice.

His demeanor was scholarly and refined as if the man who had just acted violently had nothing to do with him.

Evelyn remained silent.

Gilbert pursed his lips, his eyes and brows full of tenderness, and once again took her hand, walking forward without looking around.

"Wait! Who exactly are you?" The bodyguard on the ground asked in pain.

Gilbert paused, and chuckled lightly, "My last name is Alexander."

The two bodyguards collapsed on the ground, their faces turning pale with fear.

On the other side, Edward, unable to reach Evelyn, was anxious and restless in his luxury car.

"Mr. Wellington, you can't reach Mrs. Wellington?" Bart also looked anxious.

"Yes. Although she used to dislike me, she never ignored my calls."

Edward clenched his phone, his palm sweating with nervousness, his expression becoming serious. "Bart, did I do something wrong to upset her again? Since my head injury, my memory has been a bit off. Can you help me recall if I said or did something wrong?"

Bart replied, "You haven't seen Mrs. Wellington these days, so you haven't had the chance to upset her."

Bart suggested, "Why don't you try contacting Landon? Didn't we hear that Mrs. Wellington went back to Hameen? Landon must know her whereabouts!"

Edward gave him a cold look, "As the CEO of the Wellington Group, I can't find one person and have to call her family? What if Landon doesn't know either? Get out, you're in the way."

"Yes, sir!"

Bart retreated outside.

As soon as the door closed, Edward immediately picked up his phone and dialed Landon's number.

"Mr. Wellington, how's your injury?" Landon's tone was calm, revealing no other emotions.

"Landon, is Evelyn with you?" Edward's voice carried a hint of urgency.

"Evelyn isn't with me. Why, can't you reach her?" Landon replied.

Edward's breathing deepened, "She hasn't answered my calls. I've called her several times, and she hasn't picked up."

"That's normal," Landon said coldly.

Edward remained silent.

Landon said, "I don't know where Evelyn is either. She's not a child; she doesn't need to report everything to me. There were times when she didn't contact the family for years because of you."

"Because of me, she didn't contact the family for years? Why?" Edward was startled and asked sharply.

Realizing he had let something slip, Landon quickly changed the subject, "Do you have an urgent matter with Evelyn? Is your head bothering you?"

Edward explained, "No, I'm just worried about her."

Landon added, "No need to worry. Evelyn has always known how to protect herself. When she wants to find you, she will. If you can't find her, it means she doesn't want to see you right now."

Hearing this, Edward felt a sharp pain in his heart, like a fine needle pricking him. Though it didn't draw blood immediately, the subtle pain spread throughout his body, from head to toe.

Hanging up the phone, he felt lost and disheartened, his phone damp with sweat from his palm.

But Landon's words had stirred something within him.

She hadn't contacted her family for years, just like he had experienced.

So, where did she go, and what did she do during those years away from home? Why had she never mentioned it?

After entering the ranch, Gilbert still didn't let go of Evelyn's hand.

"Gilbert? Gilbert? Gilbert!"

Evelyn called his name three times before he snapped back to reality. "What?"

She pursed her delicate lips, looked at him, and then lowered her long lashes to look at their intertwined hands.

"Sorry, Evelyn. I was just anxious earlier. My apologies." Gilbert's eyes flickered, and slowly, he released her soft hand.

The atmosphere suddenly became awkward.

Evelyn took a deep breath and became serious. "Why didn't you reveal your identity earlier? If you had explained, there wouldn't have been any misunderstanding, and you wouldn't have had to use force."

Gilbert said coldly, "Evelyn, do you think if I revealed my identity, they would have let me in?"

Gilbert was indifferent, a mocking smile playing on his lips. "I think they would have just gone to inform Randy, and I would still have been turned away. The result would be the same."

Evelyn didn't press further; it would be pointless.

She had no intention of getting involved in the Alexander family's disputes, which were not her concern.

Evelyn asked, "Gilbert, why did you bring me to the ranch? To ride horses?"

Gilbert answered, "To show you a horse. I guarantee you'll love it."

As he spoke, Gilbert instinctively reached out to hold her hand again.

Suddenly remembering her discomfort, his long, clean fingers froze in mid-air, trembling slightly before curling back.

Evelyn's heart tightened along with his fingers.

At that moment, Curtis came running over, sweating profusely.

Curtis replied, "Mr. Alexander! Something's wrong!"

Gilbert frowned. "What is it?"

Curtis answered, "The horse you gave to Ms. Taylor has been taken to the ranch by Randy!"

Hearing this, Gilbert pushed up his glasses, his eyes seemingly on fire, his expression darkening.

Meanwhile, Randy was having a horse trainer lead a perfectly proportioned, majestic, champagne-gold Akhal-Teke horse to show his guests.

"Randy, this horse is a treasure! I've only heard of it, but this is the first time I've seen one in my life!"

Randy said, "Come on, help me up. I want to see how it feels to ride this horse!"

Randy, eager and excited, grabbed the saddle and tried to climb onto the horse.

"Who gave you permission to touch my things?"

Suddenly, a cold, chilling voice pierced through, startling everyone present!

Randy was also frightened, losing his footing and falling off the horse halfway up.

Fortunately, the horse trainer caught him quickly, but he still looked quite embarrassed.

"Be careful!" The guests expressed concern, but couldn't help but find it amusing.

Randy gritted his teeth, pushed the horse trainer away, and turned back with a fierce look in his eyes.

Walking side by side were Gilbert and Evelyn.

"Look! Who's that woman? She's so beautiful and familiar!"

"That's Evelyn, the daughter of Charlie, the richest man in Hameen!"

"Who's the man next to Evelyn? They look so good together!"

"I remember now! He's Gilbert, who just returned to the country! I didn't expect Gilbert to be so close to Evelyn. He must be quite capable too!"

Seeing his carefully planned event overshadowed by Gilbert, Randy was furious, his eyes red with anger!

Evelyn didn't pay much attention to Randy's expression.

She slightly parted her red lips, staring intently at the golden Akhal-Teke horse, sighing in admiration. "So beautiful, truly beautiful."

Gilbert turned his head to look at Evelyn beside him, a faint smile forming on his lips, his eyes softening.

"Gilbert, why are you here?" Randy stood up straight, brushing the dust off his clothes with a forced smile.

"Randy, how's my horse? Does showing off someone else's property make you feel that proud?"

Gilbert tilted his head nonchalantly, looking at him with cold mockery and disdain. "If you really wanted it, you could have asked me openly. Sneaking around and claiming it as your own, what does that mean?"

"You..." Randy's face turned ugly.

"But even if you asked, I wouldn't lend it to you."
