Chapter 479 Interrogating the Villain, Revenge Begins

"I almost forgot!" Peter slapped his forehead, his eyes sparkling. "Evelyn, you once helped our police solve two murder cases. In one, you found a crucial clue in the evidence that led to a breakthrough in the case; In the other, you spotted a flaw in the suspect's statement, which made the killer confess!"Edward was completely stunned, looking at the calm Evelyn beside him with amazement.

"So you still remember my glorious deeds." Evelyn teased him with a smile, "If it weren't for Charlie and Aunt Donna stopping me, I might have gone to the police academy back then."

"That was because we were afraid you'd be in danger. But in the end, we couldn't stop you, you still went..."

Evelyn's eyes suddenly widened, and Peter quickly shut his mouth, almost letting it slip.

Then, Peter boldly took the two to see Chief Joshua Scott.

Joshua naturally remembered Evelyn; he still had vivid memories of how she helped the police solve major cases with her keen eyesight.

What surprised him even more was that Edward had come along!

The Wellington Group, Edward's status and influence in Mugden, was self-evident!

"Mr. Wellington! I didn't expect you to come in person, my apologies for not welcoming you properly!"

Joshua was friendly to Evelyn, but to Edward, he was enthusiastic and attentive, not only exchanging pleasantries but even instructing Captain Peter to serve Edward tea!

Peter was dumbfounded and felt like cursing internally.

Edward's heart skipped a beat, and he quickly stood up, "I'll do it myself!"

In front of Evelyn, letting Peter serve him tea? Was he crazy? Did he still want to get into the Taylor family?

Peter squinted his eyes and thought to himself, 'At least he knows some manners!'

"I'll do it, I'll do it!"

Joshua personally brought the tea over, and Peter found this behavior somewhat disdainful.

If he knew that the "Peter" he had been calling for years was the son of Hameen's richest man, Charlie, and the seventh son of the Taylor family, would he give up his office for him to sit in?

Edward didn't rush to drink; he touched the cup to test the temperature, elegantly blew on it for a while, and then handed it to Evelyn.

"It's not hot anymore, you can drink it."

Peter and Joshua were dumbfounded.

"You drink too." Evelyn took a sip and handed it back to him.

Edward drank from the same spot she had.

There was no overly intimate interaction, but the sweet atmosphere had already left the onlookers stunned.

"Mr. Scott, we're here for one thing, to see Lloyd and talk to him."

Before Peter and Evelyn could speak, Edward stated their purpose directly.

"Peter, Mr. Wellington wants to see him. Arrange it immediately!" Joshua waved his hand.

The three were shocked. Was it that simple?"Yes, Mr. Scott." Peter was stunned, not expecting it to be so smooth.

"But Lloyd is very dangerous. It's not safe for you to talk to him alone. Let Peter accompany you!"

"No need," Edward replied calmly.

"It's okay, Mr. Scott. Mr. Wellington's skills are above both Lloyd and Mr. Taylor."

Evelyn tilted her head towards Edward, her smile sparkling, "When he gets angry, you'd better have more people watching Lloyd. I'm afraid he'll die in the detention center."

She thought to herself, 'Before everything is over. Lloyd, you better stay alive for me.'Detention Center.

Peter and two other officers waited outside the door while Evelyn and Edward went in to confront Lloyd directly.

After a while, Lloyd was brought in by the officers.

"Old acquaintances, huh?" Lloyd grinned at them, picking his teeth as he plopped down on the chair, his gaze at Evelyn was lecherous, and his tone was full of mockery, "What's up, Ms. Taylor, missed me?"

Evelyn's face was cold and stern, but she remained composed.

But Edward's anger had reached its peak.

Seeing Edward's fury, Lloyd was even more pleased and laughed wildly!

At that moment, Evelyn firmly grasped his trembling hand under the table.

The warm and strong feeling spread through his nerves, calming him down.

"Hurry up, I need to get back to sleep." Lloyd was clearly ready to resist them to the end.

"Lloyd, we're here to talk about cooperation this time," Evelyn spoke slowly, changing to a more acceptable tone.

"Cooperation? Ms. Taylor, do you think I'm a child? I almost killed you two, and you want to talk about cooperation with me?"

"Although you wanted to kill us, you didn't succeed, did you?" Evelyn said with a faint smile.

Lloyd frowned.

He was a former mercenary and professional killer. Evelyn's words were clearly an insult to his profession.

"You know our country's laws well. Even if a foreign criminal commits a serious crime, they can only be sentenced to a maximum of twenty years. But do you really want to be locked up here for twenty years?"

"After twenty years, you'll be deported back to Torontow, and you'll be sixty years old. Will your backers still be there when you return? At sixty, you'll continue serving your sentence in a Torontow prison. You know better than anyone what the conditions are like there. Do you think you can survive?"

Evelyn's words hit Lloyd's sore spots, not wasting a single word. A born negotiator.

Edward held Evelyn's hand, glancing at her discreetly, his eyes full of admiration and tenderness.

The smile on Lloyd's face visibly stiffened.

Evelyn seized the moment, her eyes narrowing slightly, "We know that all of this was arranged by Tiffany. Otherwise, things wouldn't have escalated to this point. Our main enemy isn't you; it's Tiffany."

"Now you're in prison, facing a heavy sentence, while Tiffany is still free, as if your current suffering has nothing to do with her. Can you really swallow that?"Lloyd sneered but said nothing.

"So why don't we cooperate? You turn state's witness and testify that Tiffany ordered you to kill Kimberly, helping us get revenge. We'll work to get you back to Torontow within a year."

"You saw last time, my sister Nancy has close ties with the royal family. If I ask her to speak to Juniper, I think you'll be free and safe in less than two years."

Evelyn smiled, "What do you think? Consider it?"

Edward's eyes flashed with amazement again. Evelyn's poise and intellect were unmatched.

Lloyd laughed a few times, mocking, "If someone else were making this deal, I might be tempted. But coming from you, it has zero credibility."

"I'm in this mess because of you. Now, to bring down Tiffany, you're desperate for my testimony, using me as a doormat. Do you think I can't see through your tricks?"

With that, he suddenly stood up, the chair scraping the floor with a harsh sound.

"Don't waste your time on me. Use it to figure out how to fight Tiffany."

After Evelyn and Edward came out, their expressions were not good.

Peter didn't ask much, seeing that the negotiation had failed, he could only comfort them, saying he would continue to interrogate Lloyd intensively.

Back in the car, Edward, worried about Evelyn's mood, put his arm around her shoulders, pulling her into his embrace, his chin gently resting on the top of her head, and began to comfort her.

"Evelyn, don't be upset. Even without Lloyd's testimony, we have Kimberly's recording. Although it's not direct evidence and it's been twenty years, once the recording is exposed, it will still deal a huge blow to Tiffany. She will be completely disgraced, and Patrick won't be able to protect her anymore.""Edward, is that all you want?" Evelyn suddenly asked coldly.

Edward's breath caught, his heart aching as if it were about to collapse. Of course, he didn't just want that. He wanted Tiffany dead, he wanted her dead!"It's been twenty years. Even with Kimberly's recording, what can it do?"

Evelyn pressed her palm against Edward's chest, feeling the heartbeat that only she could understand, filled with painful resentment, "Twenty years have passed, the statute of limitations is over, the evidence is gone. Without direct evidence, you know we can't convict Tiffany of a serious crime."

"Just disgracing her, just making Patrick abandon her, is that enough? Is that enough!"

"Evelyn." Edward's eyes were moist, his voice hoarse with extreme restraint, as if filled with gravel.

"Now our only chance, the only way to make Tiffany suffer a fate worse than death, is to use Kimberly's death and Lloyd's testimony to convict Tiffany of hiring a killer!"

Evelyn's eyes filled with tears, a storm brewing in her dark eyes, "If it weren't for Kimberly, the truth about your mother's death would never come to light."

"This opportunity was bought with Kimberly's life. We must seize it, no matter what it takes, to make Lloyd tell the truth!"

"Do you think Lloyd will talk? He was very arrogant and stubborn just now," Edward asked in a low voice.

"He will! Trust me, I could see a moment of hesitation in him. Otherwise, why would he sit there and listen to us for so long? He might not have even agreed to see us." Evelyn said firmly.

Edward nodded slightly, showing his agreement.

"It's just that he can't trust me right now, and his current situation isn't bad enough for him to take the risk and cooperate with me."

"Not bad enough?"

Edward's eyes glinted with a dangerous light, like a beast. "Soon, he'll realize that cooperating with us is his only way out. Even if it's just temporary."
