Chapter 44 From Now on, We are at Odds!
Edward froze.
He couldn't believe that the gentle and considerate ex-wife in front of him would become so arrogant. He thought to himself, 'Now she is so arrogant? She even dares to hit people?'
"Lily, is this true?" Edward's throat tightened, and his gaze at her became sinister.
Evelyn slowly raised the corner of her mouth, showing an evil smile on her beautiful face.
Eric couldn't help but cover his chest. He was captivated by her smile.
He thought, 'How can a woman be so enchanting even when she's smiling so wickedly?'
"Edward, what do you mean by that?" Nicole saw that Edward was still doubting her. She couldn't help but worry that he was becoming suspicious, so she cried louder. "Don't you believe me? Am I that untrustworthy in your eyes?"
She didn't know why Lily would admit to this.
Nicole thought to herself, "But now the situation has reached the outcome I wanted! Lily is willing to admit it. What a fool she is!"
"Edward, look at what kind of malicious woman you married!"
"Just missed! She almost cut Nicole's artery. She wanted to kill Nicole!" Karen took the opportunity to stir up Edward's emotions. Both she and Nicole started crying.
Edward helplessly lowered his head, furrowing his brow.
"Lily, you were not this malicious when you were part of our Wellington family. You used to be quiet and gentle, not like a woman who would resort to such violent actions."
Tiffany stared at Evelyn and said, "Is it because she separated from Edward that she feels she no longer needs to hide her malicious nature?
Fortunately, Edward came to his senses and reconciled with Nicole. Otherwise, who knows how long this cunning woman would have manipulated him."
"Mrs. Tiffany, that was uncalled for!"
Eric couldn't listen any longer. He squinted his eyes, preparing to retort, but Evelyn pulled him back.
This scene was unbearable for Debra. She bit her lip, and her hatred towards her former sister-in-law deepened.
"What are you planning to do?" Evelyn asked mockingly.
"Apologize to Nicole." Edward no longer looked at her, his expression cold and indifferent.
He acted as if their three-year marriage had never existed.
Nicole's mouth couldn't help but curl up, feeling extremely pleased.
She thought to herself, "Bitch, Edward has always loved me.
In your three-year marriage, you sacrificed everything for him, obediently served him, and worked hard for the entire Wellington family. But as long as I suffer a little bit, Edward will do anything to protect me!
A few drops of tears casually shed are worth more than your years of dedication!"
Evelyn arrogantly lifted her chin and walked step by step towards Nicole.
Her palm was filled with anger, and she fiercely slapped Nicole!
Everyone's eyes widened, and they all froze!
She acted too quickly. Edward didn't even have time to react, only feeling a gust of cold wind approaching.
"Ah! You hit me... How dare you hit me?!" Nicole felt a sharp pain, her ears ringing.
"I hit you because you deserve it!"
Evelyn's smile disappeared, replaced by a chilling anger. "I didn't slap you for no reason. I slapped you for the bracelet Byron gave me. If you have the guts, take it out on me. Show me what you're capable of!"
"Lily! You've gone too far!"
Edward couldn't bear it anymore. He shouted in a low voice, and he noticed the redness on her wrist.
Evelyn's skin was too delicate, and even a slight injury would appear especially conspicuous on her. But at this moment, she was too filled with anger to care about that, glaring at him. Tiffany, Karen, and Debra never expected that this woman, whom Edward had abandoned, would dare to be so arrogant in front of him. She was not someone to be messed with! "Listen carefully. From now on, Nicole and I are at odds. If I speak unintentionally, it'll be like this bracelet!" Evelyn clenched her teeth and slowly opened her left palm. Edward was shocked as he saw her palm covered in bloodstains, and the broken fragments of the gemstone bracelet were also stained with blood. She really liked this bracelet. That's why she had been holding onto it tightly, not realizing she was hurting her hand until it was bleeding. Edward breathed heavily, struggling to calm his emotions. He gazed deeply into Evelyn's angry face. His eyes were complex, and it was as if his inner self was silently collapsing. "Ms. Brown! Your hand is bleeding!" Eric exclaimed, frantically searching his pockets for a handkerchief or tissue to help bandage her wound, but he didn't have any. Edward had a handkerchief. He bit his lip and clenched his fist, but he found himself unable to gather the courage to take it out for her.
Just then, a faint fragrance wafted by, and a figure wearing a low-key but luxurious handmade emerald green dress brushed past him. Evelyn was stunned, and Donna had already walked up to her. She picked up the broken fragments from Evelyn's palm and put them into her suit pocket before carefully bandaging her wound with a white handkerchief. Tears glistened in Evelyn's eyes. Her lips trembled, almost unable to hold back from calling out Donna's name, but in the end, she restrained herself. "Your hand is so beautiful. It's heartbreaking to see it injured," Donna pretended to be calm, but she felt so uncomfortable that she wished she could tear apart the Wellington family herself.
"Long time no see, Mrs. Donna. You look more beautiful than ever!" Tiffany instantly changed her fierce expression, hurriedly greeting Donna and pretending to be familiar with her. "Hello, Mrs. Donna!" Karen also greeted her with a smiling face, trying to appease her. After all, after Charlie's original wife passed away, the outside world assumed that Donna had taken her place, and many people wanted to please her. Moreover, Donna was the youngest daughter of the Mays family. Although she had severed ties with them to marry the married Charlie, she was born noble, surpassing Tiffany and Karen. "Mrs. Tiffany," Donna actually didn't want to pay them any attention, but she thought, 'They initiated the greetings, so I have to give Patrick face. As for Karen, I'll just treat her as if she's not there.'
