Chapter 611 Randy, It's Over!

"I thought it would be Calvin or Elbert too. But it really was someone from Randy's own people who did it."

Peter became suspicious. "And I'm worried Randy might have some backup plan. These past two days I've had people watching his attorney's every move. After all, besides his lawyer, he hasn't seen anyone."

"But his lawyer has been acting completely normal. We've checked the call records too - no contact with the killer."

"That's strange. Could it be that someone under Randy is being loyal, and afraid of getting exposed, they acted first without consulting him? Does he have anyone that smart working for him?"

Evelyn frowned in thought, then let out a cold laugh. "Could it be that when Calvin made his move, he left himself a backup plan and used a trick of 'killing with a borrowed knife'?"

"Using Randy's 'hand' to kill?" Edward's deep voice was heavy and cold.

"Calvin was in such a rush to act; it must be because whoever he sent to watch Anna discovered she'd contacted us, so he wanted to silence her."

Though Evelyn had a fierce temper, at critical moments she became calmer, analyzing methodically. "But doing this carries huge risks. He needs to succeed in one shot and eliminate the threat as quickly as possible right under our noses - that's obviously very risky."

"So Calvin thought of using Randy's people to do it. That way, even if the killer gets caught, the suspicion falls on Randy, and he has plenty of ways to get away clean."

"The Alexander family really is so loving; such devoted fathers and sons, such brotherly affection!"

Peter clenched his teeth in anger. "Then I'll start investigating from Calvin's end. Neither of these devil brothers is getting away!"

"I imagine Calvin already got wind of this and has cleared away all his traces. This kind of hired killing, without direct contact - there's no direct evidence at all. Finding any leads on him will be very difficult." Evelyn's gaze was cold and stern.

"My OCD is kicking in. If I don't catch Calvin, I won't even be able to eat!"

Peter was furious. "What I hate most is this feeling - knowing exactly who the killer is but not being able to catch him. That sense of humiliation!"

"It's okay, Peter. Just work at your own pace. Don't be impatient or too obsessed. Maybe as things develop, there'll be unexpected gains."

After ending the call, the room fell quiet.

"Evelyn."

Edward opened his arms and embraced her, his chin resting gently against her hair. "I know this thought isn't great, but I suddenly feel like this might actually work out okay."

"If all the evidence points to Randy, then it's not just rape; it's hiring someone to kill, attempted murder. Multiple charges combined, he's looking at basically life in prison."

"Ugh, ridiculous - how do you always think the same things as me?"

Evelyn faced him, wrapping her arms around his waist, nestling against his chest. "Just sentencing Randy to eight or ten years would really let him off too easy - way too light."

"I was originally planning to hire the best legal team in the country for Anna and that girl, determined to destroy Randy completely."

"Hmph, didn't expect that before I could make my move, his own brother already did the job for me. Such deep brotherly love - it's touching, really."

"In families with bad values where everyone backstabs each other, what family affection could there be? Even if we do nothing, with them fighting among themselves like this, the only ending can be self-destruction."

As he spoke, his burning hands wandered to her back, slipping under her shirt, his fingertips caressing her skin - each touch seeming to ignite a fire.

Edward couldn't restrain himself. His lips, reddened from passionate kisses, brushed against the edge of her ear, his voice hoarse with desire:

"I'll go lock the door."

Evelyn felt electric tingles all over. Her remaining rationality conquered desire, and she pinched hard at his lower back. "Stop it! This is a hospital - no getting frisky!"

Calvin learned about the killer's arrest immediately.

He'd actually been mentally prepared, but when he heard it was Peter who arrested the killer on the spot, he still panicked so much he couldn't sleep all night, his mind constantly working on solutions.

"Mr. Alexander, you really don't need to panic."

A trusted aide said, "You thought of this risk early on and took precautions. You didn't arrange this person directly, and we've got dirt on him - his wife and kids are in our hands. Would he dare mention you? If he wants to keep his family safe, he can only keep his mouth shut."

"No, not just keep his mouth shut."

Calvin rubbed his aching temples, his bloodshot eyes flashing with cold light. "He must also point to Randy as the mastermind! There has to be a mastermind in this case, otherwise do you think the Taylor family pack of mad dogs will let it go?"

The aide nodded repeatedly. "You're right."

Calvin picked up his whiskey glass, swirling the ice, lips curling. "Hmph, they were his people originally anyway. Having him clean up this mess can be his final contribution to the Alexander family."

"Mr. Alexander, there's still one problem - we need to find a way to keep Peter from the Taylor family off this case so we can operate freely."

Calvin narrowed his eyes. "Hmph, I've already thought of a way."

The next day, news that Peter was Charlie's son spread online and caused quite a stir!

"That cop is actually the richest man's son? How can he be so low-key!"

"He's actually Evelyn's brother? They don't really look alike though?"

Although the online response was mostly positive rather than negative, Peter was still ordered not to be involved in Randy's case anymore.

Because the victim involved Jennifer, for the sake of avoiding conflicts of interest, he had to hand the case over to another team.

On the day of the handover.

In front of everyone, the captain of Team Two asked Peter, "Mr. Taylor, thanks for your hard work during this time. Anything else you need to tell us?"

Peter tilted his head, half-joking: "Time to see if you're a dirty cop."

The other frowned: "What do you mean by that?"

Peter spoke loudly, "Everyone knows the Alexander family loves to collude with officials and bribe cops, right? This case - they'd already buried it. It was my sister Jennifer who, under enormous pressure, live-streamed and exposed Randy's evil deeds that brought the case back into public attention."

All his colleagues looked at him.

"So now, I'm speaking not as your colleague, but as a victim's family member, demanding and watching you - make sure that animal Randy rots in prison. Go after him with everything you've got. Everyone in the Taylor family is waiting for your good news."

The captain's expression froze, his legs trembling under the desk.

Peter patted his shoulder and turned to leave.

...

After the break-in murder suspect was arrested—

Anna and the other girl victimized by Randy, along with their families, came to the police station to file reports under the protection of people sent by Evelyn and Edward.

With this, Randy's crime of raping minors was confirmed. No chance of turning things around!

Outside the police station, media who'd heard the news gathered. The story spread quickly.

Throughout, the police protected both victim girls and their identities. The media didn't get a single photo, but that didn't stop them from grabbing headlines.

Online public opinion was reversing!

Those who'd previously insulted, questioned, and mocked Jennifer had all disappeared, replaced by cheers and applause, admiration and praise:

"Jennifer actually exposed her own wounds under enormous pressure to speak up for victims; she's amazing!"

"Where are all those people who said she was seeking attention? Come out and get slapped!"

"The Alexander family actually threatened the victim girls' families not to report to police! They're completely lawless! If not for Jennifer, this case would never have seen the light of day!"

"Does the law even exist in the face of plutocrats?"

"If Randy doesn't get life in prison, there's no law or justice in this country!"

The Alexander family, which had just had a few peaceful days, faced another huge wave of public pressure.

If Gilbert hadn't previously stabilized the Alexander family stock price and restarted the Aurora Isle project, this time it would have really dealt a serious blow to the Alexander Group!

After today's group meeting ended and the executives left, Elbert kept Calvin and Gilbert behind.

Elbert was so angry he threw the documents on the desk at Calvin's face, but Calvin dodged.

"Wasn't it just rape? How did it turn into attempted murder?"

Elbert was so angry he saw stars. "How are you handling this mess? Why is it getting bigger and bigger?"

Gilbert's face showed no emotion, just a slight lift at the corner of his lips as he adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses.

"Dad! This has nothing to do with me. I've done my best to clear Randy!"

Calvin looked aggrieved. "But Randy couldn't stay calm and wouldn't trust me. He actually came up with this idea of silencing witnesses. This not only destroyed the Alexander family's image but also pushed himself to a dead end. Those two girls also came forward to testify under Evelyn and Edward's protection. Dad, we can't protect Randy anymore!"

"That's strange. Randy's in prison - even if he wanted to do this, he couldn't make it happen, right?"

Gilbert twirled his pen, raising an eyebrow mockingly. "Calvin, you didn't try to help Randy and mess things up, did you? After all, besides his lawyer, you're the only one who's seen him during this time."

"Gilbert, don't make false accusations!"

Calvin's heart skipped a beat. "I'm not as stupid as Randy!"

"So what now?"

Elbert pointed furiously at his flustered face. "Before sunset tomorrow, you better come up with a solution! Otherwise, get out of the CEO position and let Gilbert take it!"
