Chapter 181 Tiffany and Debra's Schemes
Three days flew by, and Ada finally made it to Mugden, grabbing attention from all over!
At the banquet, Debra showed up in a fancy purple dress with perfect curls, looking stunning as always.
Tiffany also went all out, with her hair up to show off some gemstone earrings and a huge diamond pendant, like she was wearing a mansion around her neck.
"Tiffany, don't you have an even better pendant? Why not wear that one?" Debra asked.
"Don't even get me started. It's a nightmare!" Tiffany grumbled, clutching her diamond. "I had to pay off Nicole's debt. The Adams family must've done something awful to owe so much! I didn't have much cash, and the boutique's been slow for two months. So, I had to sell that diamond to cover their debt!"
"Oh wow! You're really something. If it were me, I'd be in tears. That was a gift from Patrick!" Debra felt bad for Tiffany but was still puzzled. "But why help the Adams family so much? Why not let them handle it?"
"I wish I could," Tiffany muttered.
She never thought Nicole would fail when she was grooming her to seduce Edward! Now, not only did she lose control of Edward, but he also turned the tables on her! Nicole had been extorting her, calling from Mythorica for more money. It made her even want to kill Nicole, but that was the last resort. So, she promised to bring her back to Mugden soon to keep her in check.
"Tiffany, how do I look?" Debra twirled around. She chose a purple gown to match Eric's shirt, hoping they'd look like a couple. "Tonight, I must dazzle everyone and not disgrace the Wellington family!"
"The star tonight is Ada, an international celeb. How can you outshine her?" Tiffany scoffed, pulling Debra's V-neck lower. "Focus on Mr. Clark, not outshining others. Even if you look better, it won't get you into the Clark family!"
Nicole was a lost cause, and Molly had always been a disappointment. Her hopes were on Debra marrying into a high-status family to help her gain power in the Wellington family.
"Tiffany, don't worry. I'll succeed this time!" Debra said confidently.
"You have a plan?" Tiffany asked.
"Eric's sister, Jessica, is back from Yatuok. She said she could help me! You know how much Eric dotes on Jessica. With her help, what do I have to worry about?" Debra was excited, as if she was already part of the Clark family.
"Jessica?" Tiffany remembered when Eric used to bring a little girl to see Edward at Riverside Villa. "There's no such thing as a free lunch. Aren't you afraid of being cheated?"
Tiffany flicked her red nails lazily. "Jessica wouldn't help for no reason. She must've made a deal with you, right?"
"Tiffany! No wonder Patrick loves you. You're so smart!" Debra sat next to Tiffany, lifting her heavy skirt. "Jessica wants to marry Edward. That's her condition."
"What? No way!" Tiffany's voice sharpened. "Jessica's from the Clark family, and Eric's tight with Edward. If she marries him, Edward would get even more powerful in the Wellington family, leaving no room for me!"
"But Tiffany, if I marry into the Clark family, I can help you too!" Debra's face went pale, scared by Tiffany's intense reaction.
Tiffany's lips pressed tight, her eyes dark and calculating. After a moment, she asked, "How far have Jessica and Edward gotten?"
"Nowhere. Jessica said Edward's still hung up on Evelyn. She doesn't stand a chance," Debra said, pouting.
"Even better," Tiffany replied.
"What do you mean?" Debra asked.
"You're so dense. This is the perfect chance to drive a wedge between Edward and Eric!" Tiffany poked Debra's forehead. "Eric's the only son. The Clark Group is backed by Maurice Clark, but Eric has a lot of shares from Jared Clark. It'll be his in the future! If we use Jessica to create a rift between Eric and Edward, it's way more valuable than her marrying into the family! I know Edward. If he doesn't want something, forcing it won't work. So whether Jessica marries him or not, it'll be a thorn between them."
Debra finally got it, looking at Tiffany with admiration.
Just then, a timid knock came at the door.
"Come in!" Tiffany composed herself.
The door opened a crack, and Molly, clutching a teddy bear, squeezed through.
Seeing Molly, Debra remembered her grudge and wanted to tear Molly and her teddy bear apart.
"Molly? What are you doing here?" Tiffany asked indifferently.
"Mommy," Molly said, hugging her teddy bear tightly. "Can I go to the banquet tonight?"
Both Tiffany and Debra were surprised. Molly never asked for anything.
Debra crossed her legs, saying sarcastically, "Did you hear Eric will be there and can't wait to see your dream guy? After getting close to him last time, you can't wait to throw yourself at him again?"
"I didn't!" Molly had long forgotten about Eric, including that crazy kiss in the bushes.
"Molly, luck like that doesn't come often. Besides, don't you know you have a mental illness? Aren't you afraid of scaring Eric with your crazy behavior?" Debra rolled her eyes.
Molly's face turned pale, and her teddy bear got squished in her grip.
"Molly, tonight's event isn't for you. Stay home and behave. And one more thing," Tiffany's eyes darkened. "No matter what happened between you and Eric before, I won't hold it against you. But from now on, don't cause trouble for Debra, or I'll punish you. Got it?"
"Mommy! I just want to see Ada. I love her movies!" Molly's eyes filled with tears.
"Who'd believe that excuse! Tiffany, don't listen to her lies. She looks honest but is sneaky. She just wants to get close to Eric!" Debra said through gritted teeth.
"Molly, don't get in Debra's way. You've caused enough trouble, so don't add to it," Tiffany commanded coldly.
Molly stood there, head hanging low, sniffling.
Tiffany's disregard and Debra's hatred made her feel worthless in this family.
She was the sick daughter, who brought shame.
She was the one who shouldn't exist.
