Chapter 65 "Coincidence"
This posture was highly ambiguous, considering Eric's adeptness at seduction in this regard.
"Are you really trying to break a bone this time, Eric?" Evelyn gritted her teeth and asked, her eyes blazing with fury.
Eric didn’t dare to get any closer. He quickly took two steps back pretending to be innocent. "Ms. Brown, I was just joking with you. Don't be so fierce. Plus, I am also a victim, right? You've hit me, scolded me, my clothes are ruined, and I still have to have lunch with my mom at noon. It's not good for her to see me like this. Let's forget it, could you at least help me change into a new set of clothes?"
Evelyn also felt that she had been a bit too harsh just now.
After all, compared to the unreasonable Edward, Eric was quite rational. Last time, when Evelyn was bullied by Nicole, Eric stood up for Evelyn. Evelyn remembered all these acts of kindness.
"I'll have my secretary arrange for a new set of clothes for you later and provide you with a room for bathing and resting. Does that sound good to you?" Evelyn thought it through.
"Oh, you’re being too kind. There's a department store nearby. How about you accompany me to buy a set. I might not even like what your secretary picks." Eric's lips curled up. His eyes full of anticipation. "If it’s possible, I hope you could personally choose a set for me, Ms. Brown."
Evelyn thought that Eric wouldn't do anything excessive in front of her during the day, so she agreed.
Evelyn drove Bugatti's La Voiture Noire, alone with Eric Clark, to the mall.
On the way, Evelyn was driving as fast, skillfully maneuvering through the turns, smoothly entering the parking lot, as a journey that should have taken twenty minutes but only took ten.
Eric was so shocked that he couldn't close his mouth.
"Get off, now." Evelyn unbuckled her seat-belt, opened the car door expressionlessly. "You are a wealthy man with free time, while I need to work. I have many tasks awaiting my attention."
"Ms. Brown, your driving skills are amazing!" Eric was still shocked.
"Yes, I used to drive a taxi before I met Edward, I'm an experienced driver." After saying that, Evelyn got out of the car.
Eric holds a certain position in the underground racing scene. At a glance, Eric could tell that Evelyn's driving skills were impressive, not something an ordinary person could achieve.
Eric smirked, finding Evelyn more and more interesting.
On Monday, a typical workday, the mall was relatively quiet with fewer people around.
However, Evelyn and Eric's outstanding figures still attracted most people's attention.
Eric was in a good mood, and he had a smile in the corners of his eyes and mouth. "Ms. Brown, I came to the hotel to see you. I was afraid that reporters might cause trouble for you. You were on a hot topic before..."
"I recall that you prefer wearing YSL." Evelyn looked ahead coldly.
"How did you know?" Erica asked.
"From the first time I saw you, you were wearing YSL. Also, the outfit you wore at the charity auction speech was YSL haute couture smoking suit," Evelyn responded.
"You observe me quite meticulously." Eric Clark raised an eyebrow, secretly pleased.
"But honestly, YSL suits you well," Evelyn said indifferently.
"What do you mean?" Eric was puzzled.
"They're sexy enough," said Evelyn.
Eric fell silent.
"There's no haute couture here like what you usually wear, it's all ready-to-wear. You can try something on," Evelyn said.
"It's okay. As long as it's bought by you, I'll like it." Eric smiled.
Evelyn couldn't be bothered with Eric, and walked straight into the boutique.
The staff, seeing a distinguished customer, provided impeccable service.
"Money is not a problem. Eric, just pick whatever you like." Evelyn sat leisurely on the sofa with her legs crossed, the fabric of her trousers accentuating her charming leg curves in an alluring manner.
The staff were stunned by this powerful female boss who exuded a strong aura.
Eric squinted his eyes and licked his lips, feeling exhilarated.
Typically, it was Eric who bought things for women, but this time, Evelyn was taking the lead, marking the first time.
Eric was being pampered.
Meanwhile, two extravagantly dressed women happened to walk past the entrance of the boutique.
Quite coincidentally, it was Nicole and Karen.
"Mom! Look! It's Lily Brown, that bitch!" Nicole pointed angrily at Evelyn, who was chatting happily with Eric.
Unexpectedly, Evelyn was secretly involved with Eric, even with Edward around. Evelyn seemed to have Edward wrapped around her palm but still kept Eric around.
"Nicole, this is a great opportunity to turn the tables!" Karen excitedly pinched Nicole. "You need to figure out a way to get Edward to come over immediately. He can be thoroughly disappointed in Lily Brown!"
"But Mom, Edward is working at the group now. He rarely went shopping with me on weekends before, and now it's even more unlikely for him to come out to find me. Besides..."
Nicole lowered her voice, her eyes becoming more mysterious. "I just took advantage of the severe depression incident with Edward to regain his favor. I need to behave well these days to firmly hold onto Edward's heart. I can't afford to be willful and cause trouble again."
"You're so foolish!" Karen's sharp nails tapped Nicole's forehead. "As Edward is working, asking him to come and accompany you is unreasonable, but if you have a good reason, it's a good opportunity to strengthen your relationship!"
"When you start factoring Edward into every decision, that's the start of a tragedy! Let me tell you, men like women who are not too obedient. If you're too obedient, men won't like it. The moment you encounter a problem or in trouble, the first thing you should think of is Edward. He would feel proud and superior when you truly rely on him!" Karen suggested.
Nicole's eyes flickered as she didn't really agree with Karen's words.
In the past, when Bray had power and wealth, Karen clung to Bray, but in the end, Bray cared less and less about Karen. He had several lovers outside and even bossed Karen around in front of the servants at home.
To consolidate her position as Bray's wife, Karen had to endure, as her status was secure in her fifties, the Adams Villa had fallen on hard times. Bray fell ill, and now Karen, with the title of Mrs. Adams, had become a laughingstock in high society, living her life in vain.
Karen kept saying," I'll call Edward later, saying you came shopping alone, and I couldn't reach you on the phone. Edward knows you've been emotionally unstable recently, he'll drop everything and come find you as long as he loves you."
Karen grabbed Nicole's shoulder, smiling coldly. "When Edward sees Eric and Lily on a date, he'll hate Lily even more!"
On the other side, Edward had just finished a meeting and returned to his office when he received a call from Karen.
"Mrs. Adams." Edward's tone was cold.
"Edward! Has Nicole contacted you?" Karen asked nervously.
"No, what's wrong?"
"Nicole said she was feeling a bit down, so she wanted to go out for a walk. She refused my company, saying she didn't want me to treat her like a patient, so I didn't follow her. But it's been a few hours, and I can't reach Nicole on the phone! It's turned off! Could something have happened?!" Karen seemed panicked.
As Edward thought of Nicole's severe depression, his heart clenched, and he asked anxiously, "Did Nicole tell you where she was going?"
"Nicole said she was going to the department store near the KnightSpear Group World Hotel to shop, then nothing else." Karen recalled.
"Alright, I got it. I'll go find Nicole now. Nicole will be fine." After hanging up the phone, Edward furrowed his brow, grabbed his suit jacket, and headed out. "Prepare the car."
Edward arrived at the mall at the fastest speed, searching for Nicole while calling her.
Finally, the call went through, and Nicole's soft voice came through. "Edward!"
"Where are you, Nicole? I'm at the mall right now!" Edward's voice carried concern.
"I feel a bit uncomfortable; I'm sitting at the elevator on the second floor..."answered Nicole.
"Okay, I'll be right there!" Edward hurried to Nicole, arriving in front of her at top speed.
"Edward!" Tears welled up in Nicole's eyes as she suddenly threw herself into Edward's arms. "I feel better now that you're here. I don't feel uncomfortable anymore."
"Karen called you. Why didn't you answer?" Edward asked with concern.
Nicole made up an excuse. "I just happened to run out of battery on my phone, I just charged it a bit."
"Next time you go out, make sure to have someone with you. Don't be alone outside, okay?" Edward took a deep breath, showing support to Nicole.
"I have you, Edward. That's enough for me. I don't need anyone else." Nicole rubbed her face against Edward's chest, secretly smiling to herself.
Listening to Karen's advice seemed to be right this time. Edward still cared a lot about Nicole, and Nicole was still the one Edward loved the most.
Just then, murmurs could be heard faintly.
"That young couple looks so good, have you seen how beautiful the girl is?"
"That guy is handsome too, with a great figure. Just by looking at him, you can tell he's wealthy!"
Edward heard it, but he wasn't a curious person, so he didn't look back.
Nicole suddenly exclaimed, "Edward, look, what a coincidence!"
Edward turned back expressionlessly, suddenly shocked.
The next moment, Edward's eyes turned red, as if two flames were about to ignite.
