Chapter 17 Can You Marry Her?

Dick was stunned, his mouth agape.

He thought to himself, ‘So she's Mr. Wellington's secret ex-wife!’

‘Honestly, she's much more beautiful than Nicole.’

‘If Nicole weren't Mr. Wellington's childhood friend but just an attractive woman, she wouldn't have stood a chance against this strong and beautiful woman.’

"Mr. Wellington, even if she's your ex-wife, that shouldn't be a reason for me to apologize to her!" Dick wanted to save face and refused to back down. "If she apologizes to me, I'll pretend this never happened!"

"If I had arrived a moment later, who knows what your people would have done to her," Edward's face darkened. "Even though nothing happened, it doesn't mean you're not at fault. Apologize."
Dick was very afraid in his heart, but he still did not compromise.

Evelyn's face was flushed, and she was feeling the effects of the alcohol.

She only heard Edward mention his ex-wife and apologize, and thought, 'Is this jerk still trying to make me apologize?'

"It's so troublesome to apologize. In my opinion, let's follow the rules here. Either we send you to the police station, and I act as a good citizen, or we drag you out and settle it with a beating," said Eric with an aggressively handsome face and a playful smile. He swaggered over with two rows of people as if he were the heir to the underworld.

"Why do you have the right to hit me? Do you no longer care about the law?!" Dick's voice trembled in fear when he saw Eric appear.

Eric beckoned with his finger. The girl who was forced to drink earlier timidly huddled behind him.

"First, the girls in my club only sell drinks or dance. They never provide services to guests. By continuously forcing her to drink, you have violated the rules here.

"Second, drugs and substances are not allowed in my club. I fucking hate it when someone does these things in my place. Whoever did it, I'll break their legs, and that's a light punishment!

"You should really thank Ms. Brown. If it weren't for her stopping you from using the drug, you would have already been carried out of the Alahle Club," Eric said.

Edward was shocked. So that was what happened!

"Haha! You're really cool! Well done!" Evelyn laughed and gave Eric a thumbs up.

"Thank you for the compliment, Edward's ex-wife," Eric playfully winked at her.

Seeing their exchanging glances, Edward felt a bit jealous.

"Edward, is my arrangement acceptable to you?" Eric asked.

"It's feasible," Edward replied concisely.

"I was wrong! I was wrong! Mr. Wellington, I really didn't know that Ms. Brown was your ex-wife. I was blind. I apologize to her. I'm sorry, I'm sorry..." Dick begrudgingly apologized to Evelyn as he was seething with anger inside.

Edward still felt inadequate, but at this moment, he discovered that Lily was gone!

"Are you looking for your ex-wife? Look, there she is," Eric whistled and gestured toward the stage.

Edward widened his eyes, and his heart skipped a beat.

In the mesmerizing lights, Lily swayed her slender waist, dancing in a sexy and slightly playful manner. She smiled confidently, resembling an enchanting spirit that played with people's minds. The dazzling light on her made everything else pale in comparison.

Evelyn was completely drunk and in high spirits!

She had no idea what she was doing. She felt like she was flying as if the wind couldn't define her.

Suddenly, she leaned back.

Amidst a chorus of gasps, she fell into a firm but warm embrace.

When she barely saw Edward's handsome face filled with anger, she just foolishly said with a blissful smile, "I feel like throwing up."

She was bent over the toilet, retching repeatedly. No matter how attractive someone is, throwing up always looks like a grim affair.

At first, Edward just stood at the doorway, coldly watching her. When he saw how much pain she was in, he walked behind her and gently patted her trembling back.

After Evelyn finished vomiting, she stumbled to the sink. She knew she needed to wash and rinse her mouth.

"Ugh... I feel so sick..."

"Well, you brought it upon yourself by drinking. You deserve it," Edward stood there, frowning coldly.

"Because I'm sad... so sad..."

Evelyn needed clarification. She even thought the man next to her was her brother, so she choked up and cried. "Why doesn't Edward like me? Why?"

Edward's heart felt a pang of pain. He pursed his thin lips and listened to her crying.

"I tried really hard. I really did, but it seems like the harder I try, the more he dislikes me. Why is that? You tell me!"

Suddenly, Evelyn turned around and hugged Edward, burying her face in his chest and crying. Her tears and runny nose smudged his clean shirt with colorful makeup.

Edward stood still, holding his breath. He felt every hot tear melt into his chest, permeating his heart.

After a while, he asked in a low voice, "Do you really like Edward?"

Evelyn lifted her tear-stained face, her crimson lips slightly parted.

Edward swallowed hard, using all his willpower to resist this pure temptation.

He even regretted asking this question.

Whether she liked him or not, their divorce was inevitable. The love of his life could only be Nicole.

The bathroom door was kicked open with a bang.

"Edward, you are shameless! You have someone you like; why do you still bother her?"

Simon's eyes were bloodshot from anger. He went up and pulled Evelyn over, embracing her like a mother hen protecting her chick.

Edward furrowed his brows tightly, thinking, 'Mr. Landon, who has always been gentle and elegant, is angry because of my ex-wife. This shows how much he cares for her.'

He suddenly felt suffocated.

"Mr. Landon, she drank and vomited heavily just now. If you really care for her, you shouldn't have brought her to a place like this."

Simon was about to retort, but when he heard Edward call him Landon, he decided to go along with it and pretend to be Landon. "My woman does whatever she wants. If she wants to play, I'll play with her."

"Mr. Wellington, since you divorced Lily, you shouldn't meddle. Go back and take care of your Ms. Adams!"

After saying that, Simon helped Evelyn walk out, but Edward stopped him.

"What are you doing?"

"Do you really love her?" Edward asked in a deep voice.

"Of course."

"Can you marry her?"

This problem had Simon stumped. He thought, ‘She's my sister. How can we engage in incest?’

"What does this have to do with you? Get lost!"

"Lily doesn't have the power and family background to withstand this kind of emotional game. If you can't marry her and can only treat her as a lover, then don't burden her. It's better to return her to a normal life," Edward said, slightly angry.

Simon burst into laughter. "Edward, I have never seen you so shameless. When you divorced Lily for Nicole, did you ever think about Lily's situation?"

"Thanks to you, she divorced at such a young age. Don't you think you are burdening her?"

"Since divorce was a given, why did you marry her three years ago? Wasn't it just to use her as a stepping stone to marry the person you actually liked? Disgusting! You are despicable to the core!"

Edward felt a pain in his heart. His strong body trembled underneath his suit.

Simon pushed him harshly. "Get lost! Scumbag Edward!"

Edward didn't even know how he returned to his seat. His mind was filled with the words "used her as a stepping stone" and "Scumbag Edward."

"Where is your ex-wife? Did she leave?" Eric asked, leaning against the railing, scrutinizing Edward's distracted and gloomy appearance.

"Yes," Edward replied gloomily. He picked up his glass of whiskey and drank it all, feeling a burning sensation in his throat.

"If it weren't for you, I would have definitely beaten up Dick tonight. Not only did he drug me, but he also tried to harass the person I liked. He's asking for trouble."

"You don't have to save face for me. Nicole and Dick are different."

Suddenly, Edward realized, furrowing his brows tightly. "The person you like? What do you mean?"

"I thought I shouldn't let outsiders take advantage. Edward, since you don't want her anymore, I will take over for you."

Eric raised an eyebrow, smirking. "Just that your ex-wife has become my woman. I don't know if you can handle it."

"I haven't finished the divorce proceedings with her yet. Are you in such a hurry to reveal your intentions?" Edward's gaze turned dark, his laughter cold.

"You've already signed the divorce agreement, and you will be far away once you finish the divorce proceedings, won't you?"

"I don't know about the rest."

Edward clenched his fingers, his expression cold. "But death is definitely not far from you."
