Chapter 64 How Do You Know I’m Not as Good as Him?

Evelyn tossed and turned in bed all night.

Whenever she closed her eyes, Edward's handsome face would invade Evelyn's mind. Evelyn could still feel the man's warm hand gripping her waist, exuding a seductive and gradually escalating sensation.

Evelyn suddenly sat up, her smooth forehead covered in a fine layer of sweat, her breathing irregular, and her cheeks flushed.

'Why would someone who could still evoke such a strong sense of desire in me be Edward, even though we were divorced?!'

After barely sleeping for two hours, Evelyn got up and paddled a kayak for an hour to calm down.

William prepared a delicious breakfast for Evelyn.

Throughout the meal, Evelyn looked very gloomy, biting into each piece of bread and fried egg fiercely, and finishing her coffee in one gulp.

"Evelyn, are you concerned about Winnie's situation?" William leaned in, picking up a napkin and gently wiping the bread crumbs and oil stains off Evelyn's fingers, displaying a grace reminiscent of a royal butler.

"I hate the feeling of losing." Evelyn took a deep breath.

Evelyn didn't continue, hating the feeling of being further controlled by Edward.

"So, how do you plan to deal with Debra next?" William asked.

"Give me some time, this matter must be handled before the heat dies down."

As the sound fell, Evelyn's phone vibrated on the table.

Evelyn picked it up and widened her eyes in surprise—it was from Charlie!

"Charlie, what's wrong?!" Evelyn hurriedly answered, her tone tense.

"Why do you sound nervous? I'm not dead." Charlie coughed lightly. "So, when are you coming home? Your moms, Susan, Joyce, and Donna, want to celebrate with you."

"Celebrate?" Evelyn was puzzled.

"Aren't you enthusiastic about helping others and making the news? Your videos are all over Facebook, the most beautiful angelic girl."

Evelyn was exasperated by the exposure, and yet Charlie and the others wanted to celebrate.

"No need, I'm trying to keep a low profile, I don't like being exposed, it can cause trouble," Evelyn replied.

"Don't be so indifferent. Susan, Joyce, and Donna miss you so much. I haven't seen you in a long time either, can't you come back and have a meal with us?" Charlie's tone carried a hint of resentment.

"Fine, I'll come back after I wrapping up these next few days." Evelyn replied lightly.

"Oh, by the way," Charlie paused for a moment, his tone turning stern, "is Ulysses Brown back?"

"Yeah." Evelyn could only answer honestly.

"Huh, if Landon hadn't told me Ulysses was back, I was about to plan a memorial service for Ulysses!" Charlie couldn't help but get worked up at the mention of Ulysses. "Bring Ulysses back with you this time. If Ulysses doesn't come back, I'll no longer consider him my son. Ulysses won't be welcome at Oasis Villa in the future!"

After the call, Evelyn felt a bit troubled. She reached into William's suit pocket and pulled out a piece of chocolate, biting into it with a melancholy expression.

"Evelyn, what's wrong?" William asked with concern.

"Charlie wants me to bring Ulysses home for dinner."

"Oh!" William naturally understood Ulysses’ temperament and felt a bit awkward.

"Charlie has a terrible temper, and Ulysses isn't easy either. Both Charlie and Ulysses have bad tempers!"

Evelyn savored the rich taste of the chocolate on her tongue, feeling her restless mood ease slightly. "I understand Ulysses. He listens to me in everything except going home to see Charlie. Ulysses is stubborn, and you can't force him. You have to trick him into going back home."

After getting ready, Evelyn headed to work.

As a Bugatti passed by the hotel entrance, she noticed several reporters lurking outside.

Evelyn frowned, and William quickly called the front desk to inquire about the situation.

"These reporters are from the media coming to interview the 'Angelic Girl'. They found out that the girl works at our hotel, so..." the girl answered.

Evelyn's eyes darkened. She had always hated being exposed in front of the media.

Evelyn would not step into the spotlight unless it was absolutely necessary.

"Why make a fuss over such a small matter? Do these reporters have nothing better to write about?" Evelyn sighed and sipped her coffee. "Forget it, the hype will die down soon, and I've already asked Landon to help suppress the news. Let's go through the back door."

At the hotel's back entrance, Evelyn asked William to park the car while she prepared to take the private elevator to the top floor office as quickly as possible.

As she walked, Evelyn took out her phone and checked the hotel's official Twitter account.

Due to the 'Angelic Girl' effect, there were many comments under the official account, all praising her.

[Next time, I want to make a hotel reservation under the KnightSpear Group! The hotel staff's quality is excellent!]

[This lady is so beautiful, I want a clear picture of her facing the camera!]

[KnightSpear Group is still trustworthy. When will they address the issue of the Wellington family bullying their staff?]

Evelyn's red lips couldn't help but curve up with a hint of pride.

While she didn't enjoy being flashy, Evelyn couldn't deny that the benefits and free publicity brought to the hotel by this wave made her quite happy.

However, Winnie's situation remained unresolved, leaving a lingering worry in her heart.

Suddenly, Evelyn furrowed her brows, keenly sensing the scent of a man's pheromones behind her, breaching her comfort zone.

At that moment, Eric's hand had already landed on Evelyn's shoulder.

Evelyn opened her eyes, turned around, and splashed the entire cup of coffee on Eric's face!

"Ah!" exclaimed Eric.

The next moment, Evelyn swiftly grabbed Eric's sturdy arm and executed a shoulder throw!

"Ah!" The tall Eric thudded to the ground, easily overpowered by Evelyn.

"Oh no." Evelyn looked surprised as she saw Eric lying on the ground. "Eric Clark? What are you doing here?!"

"They were right." Eric lay there in a sorry state, coughing in pain. "Desire can diminish one's vigilance to danger, and even heroes find it difficult to resist a captivating woman!"

"Why were you sneaking around quietly? My body reacted before my brain did. In intense combat, negligence can easily lead to accidents," Evelyn said, her eyes flickering with embarrassment as she crouched down to check Eric's body.

With a serious expression, Evelyn's hands moved professionally over Eric's upper body, like a skilled surgeon. Even the high-end masseurs at home couldn't knead as comfortably as Evelyn did.

Eric squinted his eyes in enjoyment, gazing affectionately at Evelyn.

'Edward, you are truly lucky to have experienced such a moment! Don't blame me for seizing this opportunity!'

"Alright, your body is in good shape, no fractures." Evelyn sighed in relief, patting Eric's leg firmly. "Get up. It's not that easy to deceive me."

"I want to get up, but I really can't." Eric winced in pain. His brows furrowed. "My bones aren't broken, but I'm really hurting. It's numb! Lily, be a kind person and help me up, please!"

Evelyn was awkward, thus she reached out and helped Eric up from the ground.

As Eric felt Evelyn's fragrant and soft body pressed against him, his mind swirled with excitement, involuntarily drawing closer to Evelyn.

Women usually approached Eric first, he had never been this close to someone on his own.

"Lily, how did it feel when you touched my body just now?" Eric raised an eyebrow, looking expectantly.

"I finally figured out what's wrong with you, it's your brain," Evelyn retorted coldly. "If you were a rare creature like a three-legged toad, I might be intrigued, but as a regular two-legged man, what's there to excite me? Besides, I've touched someone with a better physique than you before."

The words slipped out, and Evelyn froze, her cheeks slightly flushed.

In her mind flashed images of Edward's muscular and chest, the perfect shape and lines, glistening with sweat, exuding an intense sense of exposure and desire.

Evelyn and Edward had only engaged in a sexual encounter once, yet it was enough to create a lasting impression.

Eric knew exactly who Evelyn was referring to, bitterness filled his heart in an instant.

A competitive flame ignited in Eric's eyes, and he suddenly spun Evelyn around, pinning her against the wall, his gaze filled with allure as he looked into her eyes.

Slowly, he leaned in, his voice lowering. "Who's better than me? Edward?"

Eric stared at Evelyn, a sly smile playing on his lips. "Ms. Brown, there are many parts you haven't touched yet. How do you know I'm not as good as Edward?"
