Chapter 546 Your Love, Truly Ugly

Landon's brow furrowed deeply as he swiftly disarmed Aaron with a deft move.

Normally, as a colonel, Aaron was highly skilled, and taking a gun from him would be nearly impossible.

But Landon covered the gun's muzzle with his hand, and Aaron, fearing an accidental discharge that might hurt Landon, reluctantly let go.

"Landon, if you really care about Evelyn, you shouldn't be stopping me!" Aaron's bloodshot eyes were fixed on Edward, and if looks could kill, Edward would have been torn apart by now.

Those words were harsh, especially coming from the usually gentle and kind Aaron, making them even more impactful.

But Landon didn't blame him.

If this anger could be vented in such a way, it was better than not knowing what terrifying things his brothers might do otherwise.

"Aaron, I care about Evelyn, but I also care about you. We grew up together, and I love all of you. I don't want you to ruin your lives over this guy. Have you thought about Evelyn's feelings? Do you think this is what Mom and Dad would want?"

Mentioning their mother brought a wave of sorrow to the brothers, their eyes welling up with tears.

"You've finally come home, and we all missed you. Evelyn would be happy to see you, too, Aaron."

Landon closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and suppressed his pain, "Evelyn doesn't want to talk about this anymore. She doesn't want to pursue it. If we keep bringing it up, we're only hurting her more, making her relive the pain of losing her child."

The pain of losing a child...

Edward gasped for air, his eyes red and tears mixing with the cold rain.

If their child were still alive, he would be three years old now.

What had he done? What had he done?

"The rain is too heavy, and you're already exhausted from your journey. You'll get sick if you stay out here. Let's go inside." Landon grabbed Aaron's stiff arm and pulled him towards the door.

"Mr. Taylor..."

Edward, looking defeated, his shoulders slumped, his lips trembling, pleaded, "Please let me see Evelyn one more time..."

"Get out!"

Aaron roared with anger, his body filled with hatred, struggling against Landon's embrace, "Edward! Get out of here! Don't let me see you again! Or I will kill you! Get out!"

"Mr. Taylor... let me see Evelyn."

Edward's eyes were filled with pain, but he showed no sign of backing down, stubbornly standing his ground, "I need to hear from her about what happened, about our child... so many things. I need her to tell me."

"Edward, Evelyn said she doesn't care about those things anymore. It's all in the past."

Landon's eyes were dark, his voice hoarse, "You all need to stop dwelling on past pain. Forget each other. Go back and don't come here again."

As the two brothers turned to leave, they froze in place.

"Dad?"

Charlie, who had been standing under Simon's umbrella, suddenly stepped into the rain, his face pale, walking towards Edward.

The air pressure dropped, and the chilling aura from this noble man seemed to freeze the raindrops.

Edward watched as Charlie approached him, expressionless.

He opened his lips slightly, wanting to say something, but facing the father of the woman he loved most, he was at a loss for words.

Then, in the next moment—

Edward felt a sharp pain in his cheek as Charlie punched him hard!

"Dad?"

"Dad!"

The Taylor brothers were stunned!

For the first time in thirty years, they saw their father hit someone other than his own sons.

Their father, the eldest son of a powerful family, had always been above others, never needing to dirty his hands. He was more arrogant than Owen.

But this time, Charlie was truly enraged.

He didn't stop with one punch; he continued to pummel Edward's face and body...

Edward's face was swollen, his lips bleeding, but he felt no pain, only a numbness of suffering.

"Dad! Your health is not good! Getting too angry could trigger an attack!"

Landon and Simon rushed to support the nearly collapsing Charlie, but he pushed them away, grabbing Edward's blood-stained collar.

"Edward... do you know... the woman you repeatedly hurt is my treasure! She is the last memory my beloved left me in this world. She is my everything!"

"Mr. Taylor, I'm sorry..."

Edward repeated, lost in his pain, "Give me one more chance... I want to make it up to Evelyn."

"If you couldn't take responsibility, why did you marry her? If you married her, why did you hurt her?"

Charlie withdrew his hand, the strong man staggering weakly, "Go back to Mugden, go back to your despicable family! From now on, KnightSpear Group is your Wellington Group's number one enemy! If you have the ability, protect your territory, or I'll tear it down myself! Get out!"

The Taylor men left, the door closing heavily behind them.

Edward stood in the rain, feeling as if an insurmountable chasm separated him from the Taylor family.

He didn't know how long he stood there, but eventually, he slowly knelt in the puddle, his back heaving, sobbing uncontrollably.

Footsteps approached from behind, stopping beside him.

Edward struggled to lift his gaze.

"Need an umbrella, Mr. Wellington?"

Gilbert, impeccably dressed, smirked, looking down at him with disdain.

Edward's fingers trembled in the rain, slowly clenching into a tight fist.

"Looks like you don't need one."

Gilbert's cold smile was filled with arrogance, "But after what you did to Evelyn, Mr. Taylor must hate you to the core, right? Do you think your performance here will change anything?"

Curtis, holding Gilbert's umbrella, laughed mockingly, "If you hadn't said anything, I wouldn't have realized this was Mr. Wellington's performance! Anyone would think Mr. Wellington wants to be the Taylor family's watchdog."

Edward had no strength to argue with Gilbert's lackeys.

Or perhaps, he was punishing himself by allowing them to trample on his dignity, feeling that only by being humiliated could he ease his guilt.

"Isn't it late, Mr. Wellington? Aren't you going home? If you don't, I will."

Gilbert laughed coldly, "I know being abandoned by everyone feels terrible. But isn't this all your own doing? If you had treated Evelyn better, you wouldn't be in this situation. Stay here and enjoy your suffering."

As they walked towards the Oasis Villa door, Edward finally spoke, "Was it you behind Jessica?"

Gilbert stopped, his glasses flashing, smiling intriguingly.

Silence itself was an answer.

"Did you expose Evelyn's condition through Jessica to everyone? Did you do this to break us apart, to get revenge on me? To get back at me, you revealed Evelyn's scars, causing her pain. Gilbert... is this your so-called love for her?"

Edward's voice was cold, tears mixing with the rain on his chiseled face, "Your love is truly ugly."

"What are you talking about? I don't understand a word."

Gilbert's smile was sinister. "You were the one who hurt Evelyn, not me. Are you talking nonsense because you've been in the rain too long? Edward, don't think I'm the only one who hates you. Many people want you gone. Stop bothering Evelyn and let her go."

The cold moon shone, the rain easing.

Ulysses stood on the rooftop, his black coat flapping in the wind.

He had smoked an entire pack but couldn't calm his chaotic thoughts, his fingers trembling.

"Ulysses, are you in Hameen?"

Aaron's worried voice came through the phone, "Did you have any trouble flying alone?"

"No, Aaron." Ulysses gripped his phone, trying to steady his breathing.

Aaron was silent for a moment, his voice low, "Ulysses, don't do anything foolish. If someone has to take the blame, I'd rather it be me."

"Aaron, if I wanted to do something 'foolish,' you wouldn't be able to stop me."

Ulysses put the cigarette to his lips, his long lashes flickering, "Take care of Evelyn. I'll visit her later."

Ulysses stayed in Mugden instead of returning to Hameen because he was too overwhelmed by Evelyn's condition and hadn't sorted out his feelings.

Secondly, before the party ended, Evelyn had sent him a message.

[Ulysses, find the woman who looks almost identical to me, no matter what it takes!]

[Only by finding her can we uncover the mastermind. This is crucial for both me and Edward!]

Ulysses sat alone in a bustling bar, staring at his phone's screensaver, a photo of him and Evelyn, feeling a mix of bitterness and sorrow.

Above him, a camera silently turned towards him.

On the other end of the camera was the Rose Club!

Gilbert had set up a sizable information hub in the club's basement. Hundreds of screens monitored the activities of Mugden's elites and special locations 24/7.

Many of these elites never knew they were under constant surveillance, living without privacy.

"Miss Morgan! The target has appeared!"

Sarah's heart raced as she looked at the screen.

When Ulysses' handsome face appeared, her heartbeat quickened, and she saw him staring deeply at his phone screen.

On it was her face, no, Evelyn's face.It was Evelyn that was cherished, adored, and loved by the Taylor family.

Sarah's eyes grew cold, a hint of blood spreading in her gaze, "Keep an eye on him. I'm heading over now."
