Chapter 75 Evelyn is Back!

The Rolls-Royce drove into Oasis Villa. It was a particularly grand entrance.

From the moment they entered, the servants were happily bustling around spreading the news.

"Evelyn is back!"

As Evelyn and Landon got off the car, Butler Johnson led the servants to line up on both sides, bowing respectfully to greet them.

"Welcome back, Evelyn!"

Evelyn thought to herself, 'I am as happy and content as can be. It’s like I’m in heaven!'

"Evelyn! You're finally back! We missed you so much!"

Evelyn heard the voices and looked over, seeing Mrs. Donna and another woman with short hair, shoulder-length, wearing a satin shirt with a purple collar tied with a bow, black loose pants, tall and slender like a supermodel, hurrying toward Evelyn.

It was Charlie's last and youngest wife, Susan Taylor.

"Aunt Donna, Aunt Susan." Evelyn smiled and warmly hugged Susan and Donna.

Landon observed the scene, his lips slowly curling up, a mixture of emotions stirring in his heart.

The Taylor family was the richest family in Hameen, with complex family relationships and interpersonal dynamics. When Susan Joyce and Donna married Charlie, especially when Susan Taylor, who was only eight years older than Landon, the Taylor family almost was in a chaos.

It was for this reason that Evelyn, following Ulysses' example, left the Taylor family directly and joined Doctors without Borders, wandering outside for a considerable time.

Later, it was Susan Joyce and Donna's sincere efforts, along with Landon sharing stories about Susan Joyce and Donna, that helped Evelyn let go of her resentment and no longer harbor ill feelings towards them.

Moreover, if someone had to take the blame, it should be Charlie! The root of all this was that Charlie!

"Evelyn, you've lost weight." Susan was straightforward and chided Landon, "Landon, if you're too busy to take care of Evelyn, just send her back home for us to look after! You mentioned you were going to help Evelyn eat well, but she seems to have lost weight recently. You owe me an explanation!"

Landon chuckled helplessly, "My bad! Susan, don't be mad."

"Aunt Susan, you know I have a fast metabolism and don't gain weight easily." Evelyn used to be at odds with Susan, but now their relationship was good, like close sisters. "To take care of my diet and daily life, Landon even assigned his chief executive secretary, William, to me. You know William's cooking. He can cook a fish in over a dozen ways. I'm well taken care of every day, so rest assured."

"I don't believe you!" Susan huffed and lightly pinched Evelyn's cheek. "Can William’s cooking compare to Joyce's? I heard that Joyce has been preparing ingredients since last night, and today she's been in the kitchen all day, not even taking a sip of water. Charlie even said Joyce is preparing for a grand feast, higher in standards than entertaining national leaders!"

"I told her to keep it simple. It’s just a family dinner and let’s enjoy the companionship instead," Evelyn said.

"We both offered to help Joyce, but she said she couldn't trust others' skills and insisted on doing it herself." Donna chuckled lightly. "Joyce seems gentle, but who would have thought, once she's determined, there's no stopping her."

"Aunt Joyce does not trust Aunt Susan, not Aunt Donna, isn't it?" Evelyn laughed. "After all, Aunt Susan caused pots to leak four times, triggered fire three times, and shattered the stove twice. Joyce no longer dares to let Aunt Susan in the kitchen."

"Evelyn, can you stop exposing my shortcomings? Are we not on good terms anymore?" Susan raised an eyebrow and playfully tickled Evelyn's armpit.

"It's all funny!" Susan and Evelyn playfully bantered like good friends.

Thinking of Joyce reminded Evelyn of her time as the lady of the Tiffany family at Riverside Villa.

During those three years, Evelyn lived very cautiously, fearing that any mistake would annoy Edward and lead to complaints from the people at Riverside Villa.

After just three years, Evelyn felt it was tough. 'How did Joyce manage to live there for twenty years?' she wondered.

Women weren't so humble for men. They were independent, strong, and beautiful, blooming proudly like roses. It was a pity for them to spend their lives busy in the household. It was truly a waste.

A group of people surrounded Evelyn, chatting and laughing as they walked into the villa.

The night was a bit chilly, with the moon still visible in the sky.

The Maybach quietly parked outside Oasis Villa, enveloped by the lonely night.

Edward stepped out of the car. His eyes fixed on the grand entrance of Oasis Villa across the way.

"I've heard that Mr. Taylor loves Britain architecture, having bought dozens of estates nationwide. Seeing it in person now, it's true," Bart remarked.

Bart gazed at the classical and elegant buildings of Oasis Villa, marveling, "It's truly magnificent, so beautiful. It even outshines Riverside Villa."

After speaking, he realized his slip of the tongue and felt he had said something wrong. The lights of Oasis Villa shone brightly in the darker night, and the faint sounds of laughter and joy could be heard, making his heart feel as if it were submerged in the cold waters of winter.

As Landon's girlfriend, Evelyn seemed to be quite popular at Oasis Villa.

Initially, Edward thought the Taylor family's social network was complex, with Charlie having three wives aside from the deceased Mrs. Tiffany. Although none of them had a marriage license, they had all borne children at Oasis Villa, unofficially but with status.

For Lily, the three wives standing at the entrance of Oasis Villa were like big blocks. Evelyn's situation must have been very difficult, likely to retreat.

However, to his surprise, Evelyn could get along so well with Landon's family, and Edward could hear their laughter and conversations from a distance.

The people at Oasis Villa really seemed to adore Evelyn.

With these thoughts, Edward's expression grew more strained and pale, and his heart filled with an unprecedented sense of melancholy, making it hard for him to breathe.

"Do you have a cigarette? I feel like smoking." Edward was upset.

"Charlie! I'm back!" Evelyn shouted as soon as she entered the living room.

"Why are you so slow? I'm starving!" Charlie complained as he hurried over with Simon.

"You're dressed so formally, Charlie. What's the occasion? Trying to outshine all the men at Oasis Villa?" Evelyn teased, eyeing Charlie up and down.

Charlie was wearing a suit vest over a white shirt, with a fine gold chain hanging from his collar, giving off an air of a wealthy old gentleman from a TV drama, despite his age.

"Outshine? Do I need to try so hard? I could walk into a movie set with any outfit and be adored by countless women thirty years younger!" Charlie raised an eyebrow. "I'd be a wall decoration for them to tribute."

"Dad, I think it's a bit extravagant..." Simon quietly reminded him.

"If you don't mention it, who would know?" Charlie glared at Simon.

Others thought, 'Charlie, you're the one who hasn't figured it out!'

"Did you not inform others about my return?" Evelyn asked with concern.

"Would we dare disobey Evelyn's orders?" Donna smiled knowingly. "Don't worry, we didn't tell them."

"So, it was intentional that you didn't let them come back, I was wondering why they were so clueless!" Charlie sighed with regret. "It's a family dinner tonight. You should have called the kids back for a reunion!"

"My elder sister is married to Aurora Isle. It's inconvenient to call her back from so far away. The other one is busy with police work, and the youngest is busy studying for exams. It's not convenient for her to come out from school for a visit. You don't need to cause trouble! Isn't having so many people with you enough?" Evelyn directly retorted Charlie.

"What about Ulysses? Ulysses has nothing to do every day, he's just in Mugden leisurely, with a two-hour drive away. Why hasn't Ulysses come? Is he dead?" Charlie got angry at the mention of Ulysses.

"Ulysses, he..."

Evelyn didn't finish her sentence when a clear and pleasant voice came from behind.

"I was waiting for you to scold me, but if you don't speak, how can I make an entrance?" Everyone turned around to see Ulysses, hands in the pockets of his black windbreaker, a mischievous smile on his handsome face as he walked over, swaying his body.

"Mr. Taylor, I'm still alive, sorry to disappoint you." As soon as Ulysses appeared, Donna and Susan quickly stepped back, their smiles fading.

Donna and Susan knew that Ulysses detested this family and especially disliked Donna and Susan. So, it was best to remain silent at this moment.

Evelyn breathed a sigh of relief.

Indeed, Ulysses always appeared suddenly, not showing up until the last moment, avoiding this family as if avoiding drugs.

"Where's the food, is it ready? Aren't we going to eat? Hurry up, I want to eat so I can relax when I'm done." Despite his words, Ulysses' meaningful gaze fell on Evelyn's face.

His gaze meant 'I've completed my task, you've kept your promise, and you've calmed down.'

Evelyn's eyes flickered as she deliberately ignored Ulysses' signal.

The atmosphere in the living room suddenly became a bit subdued.

Charlie rubbed his face in frustration, walking up to Ulysses with a stern face. "Send me a recent photo."

"Why?" Ulysses was confused.

"I'm afraid that one day you'll really die, and there won't even be a photo of you to use it for your funeral! Send it to me quickly."
