Chapter 353 Questioning
Edward restrained himself, delivering a slap that was far from his full strength.
He knew that if he used his full strength, he could probably knock Tiffany out cold.
He didn't want her to use this as an excuse to leave; there were still many unresolved grudges between Evelyn and her!
Everyone was shocked and terrified, seeing Edward hit Tiffany, but no one dared to step forward!
In this family, even Patrick couldn't control Edward, so who could?
Debra was so scared that she covered her mouth, trembling violently!
Seeing Tiffany get hit, she didn't even have the courage to rush forward and stop it!
The Clark family members were all dumbfounded.
Even though Tiffany's words were quite harsh, she was still Patrick's wife, Edward's stepmother. How dare Edward slap an elder in front of so many people?
How arrogant, how bold! This slap not only hit Tiffany's face but also Patrick's face!
Only Eric looked at Edward with such intense eyes. He took a deep breath, slowly lifted his lips, and felt an indescribable surge of emotion.
Edward had been holding back this slap for a long time. As his only good friend, no one understood better than him how Edward had endured all these years in this family.
"Patrick, my ear, I can't hear anything!"
Tiffany covered her ear, crying bitterly as she threw herself in front of Patrick, clinging to him tightly, blood at the corner of her mouth, her meticulously styled hair in disarray, her eye makeup smudged from crying, her elegant image completely shattered. "I'm deaf, your son made me deaf! Aren't you going to do something about him? How dare he hit an elder?"
Evelyn clearly saw blood seeping through Tiffany's fingers and couldn't help but look at Edward.
No surprise, Tiffany's eardrum was probably ruptured.
Patrick looked down at Tiffany, his gaze complicated.
His heart still had a faint pain, but he knew clearly that this heartache did not belong to Tiffany but to Amanda, whom he had buried deep in his heart for a long time.
"Edward, are you crazy? How can you lay hands on an elder?" He still had to intervene.
Edward smirked, "Elder? What kind of elder is she to me? In the entire Wellington family, Byron is my elder, you are my elder, May is my elder. Among the people I respect, she is not included."
Tiffany's swollen face blushed, a rush of blood churning in her chest, the taste of blood under her tongue.
Edward's meaning was clear: in this family, even an old maid like May had a higher status than her.
"I call you Aunt Tiffany out of respect for your age and the fact that you've served my dad for almost thirty years. Elder? Do you deserve it?" Edward's cold laughter sent chills down everyone's spine.
The Clark family members saw that a fight was about to break out, so they couldn't leave.
It would be such a waste to miss out on the drama.
"Amanda is my bottom line. Anyone who crosses my bottom line, don't blame me for not showing them respect. I can even take their life."
Edward's eyes were cold and eerie, and as he spoke, he glanced in Evelyn's direction.
He didn't mention that Evelyn was his bottom line.
But in Evelyn's heart, was he her bottom line? He might not even compare to Gilbert.
Thinking of this, Edward felt a sharp pain in his heart and stopped looking at her.
As if telepathically, Evelyn secretly glanced at him at this moment.
For some reason, her heart skipped a beat when she saw him staring coldly ahead.
Tiffany shivered violently, her heart pounding, and she found it hard to breathe.
Now, Patrick could no longer control Edward; he was no longer a stable support.
If Edward found out that she was the one who worsened Amanda's depression back then, wouldn't she be doomed?
Back then, she had bribed the maid Amanda trusted most, besides May, to switch her depression medication with drugs that stimulated the central nervous system. Over time, this not only accelerated the somatic symptoms of depression but also made her feel more depressed, have difficulty breathing, and even experience hallucinations!
In the last few months of Amanda's life, she left this world under such dual physical and mental torment.
This secret must remain hidden; if it were ever exposed, it would mean his demise.
"Patrick, are you really going to just stand by and watch me get hit? I am your wife." Tiffany clung tightly to Patrick's clothes, sobbing softly.
Patrick took a deep breath, his arms supporting Tiffany stiffly, "Go back to your room and clean up first. I'll have Debra and the secretary take you to the hospital."
"No," Edward said coldly.
"Edward, what are you up to now?" Patrick frowned.
Edward's gaze was intimidating. "It's just a slap; it won't kill her. But the matter between Tiffany and Ms. Taylor must be settled tonight."
Evelyn's heart tightened, and she pressed her lips together.
"How many times do I have to say it? Joyce's matter has nothing to do with me. I don't even know that murderer! It's all Evelyn's fabrication to slander me!" Tiffany screamed hysterically.
"Mrs. Wellington, I think you should really listen to Patrick and go to the hospital to check if you have early signs of dementia," Evelyn sneered at Tiffany's pale face.
Tiffany gritted her teeth. "Evelyn!"
Maurice raised an eyebrow at this. "This Evelyn, does she have such a sharp tongue?"
"Yes, Dad. Evelyn has always been like this, very fierce and explosive in her actions," Sophia said, disapproving of Evelyn's behavior.
Maurice cleared his throat softly. "It's not a big deal for a girl to be a bit fiery. Her family background matches her temper. She is beautiful, but it's a pity she's been divorced once. Otherwise, she would be a good match for Eric."
Sophia was puzzled.
Jessica's heart skipped a beat in fear. "Grandpa! What are you saying? How could Evelyn be a match for Eric?"
"A woman as outstanding as Ms. Taylor, even if she were divorced countless times, I think there would still be plenty of men wanting to pursue her." Eric smirked, a hint of mischief in his eyes. "Grandpa, to be honest, the first time I saw Ms. Taylor, I was deeply attracted to her and immediately started pursuing her passionately."
Jessica gritted her teeth in hatred. "What? You pursued Evelyn?"
Maurice looked shocked and curiously asked, "Then why didn't you two end up together? I heard you're quite skilled at wooing women."
Sophia remained silent.
"She didn't fancy me," Eric said, scratching his head awkwardly.
"Even you couldn't win her over?" Maurice was indignant.
Evelyn's ex-husband was Edward, so it wasn't too disgraceful for Eric to lose to him.
"That criminal named Trevor was a TV station employee thirty years ago. Not only did he collaborate with you in several shows, but he also took care of you and attended to your needs for a long time. Your relationship was far from ordinary. Even Joyce and many famous directors knew Trevor, but you claim not to know him. Are you blind or something?" Evelyn looked at Tiffany with cold eyes, shaking her head.
"I don't know any Trevor! Just because they know me, do I have to know them?" Tiffany still refused to admit it.
"You forgot, so let me help you remember."
Evelyn slowly walked down the stairs, gracefully and calmly approaching Patrick and Tiffany.
Suddenly, Tiffany saw a flash of cold light before her eyes.
A platinum pendant in the shape of a silver lily dangled in front of her, like a sharp blade ready to slit her throat at any moment!
Tiffany's heart raced, and her lips trembled slightly.
How could it be in Evelyn's hands?
Patrick frowned deeply, sensing Tiffany trembling violently in his arms, though she tried hard to control it, it was still very obvious.
"What is this piece of junk? Why are you showing it to me?" Tiffany's eyes darted around.
"Tiffany, I remember this is your necklace." Patrick's brows furrowed even tighter, and he said in a deep voice, "When we first met, you always wore it. You said it was the only keepsake from your mother, and you treasured it dearly. But one day, I saw you weren't wearing it anymore and asked where it went. You said you lost it while filming and were sad about it for a long time. I remember it was this lily pendant necklace."
A deafening buzz rang in Tiffany's ears!
She remembered, she did tell Patrick that. To be precise, she lied about it.
Back then, to win his heart, she told countless lies and ruthlessly cleared many obstacles on her path to wealth.
Tiffany was a person built on countless lies. So many years had passed that she couldn't even remember many of them.
"So this necklace is your mother's keepsake. It must be very important to you."
Evelyn looked at the swinging pendant, her beautiful eyes flashing coldly. "How could such an important item end up in that criminal's hands? When we found it, it was in an exquisite jewelry box. It seems this necklace was very important to Trevor as well."
