Chapter 101 Lovesickness
Evelyn's face lit up as she turned, her waist swaying gracefully, her eyes piercing through his heart.
She danced lightly, her voice enchanting everyone.
Edward stared, dazed.
"Lily, is that really Lily?!"
Byron grabbed the armrest, almost jumping out of his seat, "Yes, it's Lily! Look at her nose and mouth, isn't she my Lily?!"
'Lily's nose and mouth.'
Edward slumped back, vision blurring, a sharp pain stabbing his temple.
"Edward? You okay? You look awful," Eric asked, concerned.
"I'm fine," Edward said, pressing his temple, feeling like he was falling into an abyss.
'Why does the name Lily sound so familiar? Have I met her before?'
Byron had chosen The Marriage of Figaro.
Evelyn used to visit Byron and sing opera to cheer him up.
She remembered the first time Byron heard her sing, his eyes moist with memories of Lisa, crying like a child.
Lisa was a famous opera singer, and Byron was her biggest fan. He loved her deeply, marrying her despite family pressure. They became a legendary love story.
Evelyn envied their deep love, something she always wanted.
But when Edward forced her to divorce, she finally understood. Loving Edward meant her love was doomed.
Everyone got engrossed in the performance, forgetting to chat.
"I heard the performer is Edward's ex-wife! She's really talented!"
"Stop calling her Edward's ex-wife. She's Landon's wife now!"
"Who knows if they'll get back together? Didn't you see how Edward looked at her? So tender, clearly not over her!"
"How could he be? She's beautiful, talented, and Byron likes her. She's way better than Nicole."
Hearing the murmurs, Nicole's face twisted with anger. She stormed off to sulk, brewing sinister thoughts.
'Tiffany hinted I should act against Lily soon, but I'm not letting her use me as a pawn. If caught, I'd lose everything! I need someone to share the risk. Debra's perfect for this.'
Nicole sent a message to Debra.
Soon, Debra came over, fuming and dragging her heavy dress.
"I didn't expect Lily could perform opera and steal the spotlight again!"
"Debra, don't be mad."
'Nicole, who had been silenced by Lily before, now spoke smoothly to comfort me,' Debra thought.
"You're right, Nicole. Let her sing all she wants! Does she think she's talented? She's just making a fool of herself!"
"Debra, want to teach Lily a lesson?" Nicole asked quietly.
"I dream of it! I want to twist her head off and kick it like a ball, break her neck and drain her blood!" Debra gritted her teeth in hatred.
"I have a plan, but I can't do it alone. We need to team up," Nicole said, grabbing Debra's arm with a sinister look.
"What plan?!"
Nicole checked to make sure no one was watching and no cameras were around. She then pulled out two vials of clear liquid that Tiffany had prepared.
"What's this?" Debra asked, puzzled.
"It's something that makes men lose control after drinking it. Perfect for someone like Lily," Nicole said, eyes gleaming with malicious excitement.
"What?!"
Debra exclaimed, but Nicole quickly covered her mouth. "Keep it down!"
"You're going to drug Lily? At the birthday party?!"
Nicole whispered, "Imagine the scandal if, tonight at Byron's birthday party, Landon and Lily make a scene. Her image would collapse, Edward and Byron would despise her, and the Taylor family would abandon her. Don't you hate her relationship with Mr. Clark? If Mr. Clark saw Lily and Landon together, do you think he would still care about Lily?"
Debra was speechless. She hated Lily but had never resorted to such underhanded tactics.
"If we get caught, we're finished!"
"With so many people at the party, how could we get caught? Even if suspected, they wouldn't have proof it was us. If you're scared, just have someone tamper with Landon's drink, and I'll handle Lily. Working together, we can't fail!"
Nicole coldly added, "You saw it today, Mr. Clark only has eyes for Lily; he doesn't even see you."
Debra felt a sharp pain in her heart, a deep sense of shame pulling at her insides.
"If you don't get rid of Lily, your relationship with Mr. Clark will never improve. Doing nothing will only make you a laughingstock. Think about it, Debra!"
Nicole repeated what Tiffany had told her to Debra.
Debra nodded with hatred.
The guests were still engrossed in The Marriage of Figaro.
Eric stared at Lily on stage, lost and confused, his gaze burning and bewildered.
Edward looked at Lily's familiar yet strange face, the coffee he drank felt like burning liquor, scorching his throat.
"Edward's longing is deep but hidden," Landon sighed, looking at the stunning Evelyn on stage.
'It was like a stone dropped into Edward's heart, causing ripples.'
At that moment, there was a commotion and exclamations from the audience.
Evelyn looked up in confusion.
Suddenly, it was as if she had been shot in the chest, her body shook violently.
In front of everyone, Charlie, accompanied by bodyguards and a secretary, walked from the back to the front, looking handsome and dignified.
"Is that Mr. Taylor from KnightSpear Group?! Is it Charlie?!"
"Mr. Taylor is attending Byron's birthday party?!"
"Does this mean the century-old feud between the Taylor family and the Wellington family is finally over? This will be front-page news!"
The crowd was shocked, buzzing with excitement!
Evelyn's voice trembled uncontrollably, her heart pounding in panic.
'Why was Charlie here? How could Charlie possibly come to celebrate Byron's birthday?! Who invited him?!'
