Chapter 53 The Beautiful and Kind Ex-Wife

Everyone was stunned.

Debra and her two friends were even more shocked, their mouths wide open.

William brought the necklace over and placed it in front of Debra with a serious expression.

"Ms. Wellington, please take a look. Is this the necklace you lost?"

"It, it..."

Debra took it in astonishment and suddenly exclaimed, "Ah! My necklace... why has it turned out like this? Who did this?!"

Upon closer inspection, everyone noticed that this luxurious necklace had been broken into several pieces.

"Our manager heard about your lost necklace and immediately sent me to conduct a thorough search of the entire presidential suite. We eventually found your necklace hidden under the sofa."

"But when we found it, it had already become like this, and we have no idea why it turned out this way," William replied coldly.

"You see, I said she forgot where she placed it and then blamed the hotel! Just because she spent money, does she think she can get away with anything?"

"Oh my god! This diamond is so big! Who would normally wear such a precious necklace outside? It's like she's inviting thieves!"

Hearing the onlookers mocking her, Debra's face turned pale, and she gritted her teeth, "So what if you found it? Does that prove your employees didn't steal my necklace?

"She couldn't have moved it somewhere else, so she hid it under the sofa, planning to take it out and sell it after we left!"

"I didn't do it! I didn't!"

The female waitress was not as eloquent as Debra, and she was so angry that she had difficulty even catching her breath, let alone defending herself.

"If she stole it, there would be no need for her to destroy it. It is not something inconvenient to carry around."

Evelyn's clear eyes were cold, "I think this was done intentionally, not to steal, but to vent anger on your necklace, as if this person was jealous of you."
Upon hearing Evelyn's words, Debra was taken aback. Her two friends behind her were also stunned.

"Now that we have helped you retrieve the necklace, the accusation of employee theft cannot stand. If you insist on taking this matter further, I will accompany you," Evelyn said confidently.

As Evelyn's sharp gaze casually scanned Debra's friends behind her, she continued, "When I had my secretary retrieve this necklace, she was extremely careful. The police will be here soon, and you can hand the necklace over to them for fingerprint analysis. With such a large diamond, the police should have no problem collecting fingerprints from it."

"Yes! Fingerprint analysis!"

"Great idea! That's what we should do!"

The onlookers echoed in agreement.

Debra's friends immediately paled and hurriedly pulled Debra aside. "Forget it, Debra. You have a noble identity, and if this continues, you will lose face. Just fix the necklace, and let's go..."

Feeling ridiculed if she continued to make a scene, Debra forcefully stuffed the necklace into her Hermès bag and walked out with her head held high.

"Wait, Ms. Wellington," Evelyn suddenly called out coldly.

"What now? What else do you want?" Debra retorted.

"Now that your necklace has been found, you have no evidence to prove that our employees stole it. Earlier, you humiliated my employee in front of so many guests. Don't you think you owe her an apology?"

"Apologize? Ha! I am the guest here, and your hotel service is so terrible, yet you want me to apologize. Are you crazy?!" Debra laughed in anger.

"She's too much! Is she really from the Wellington family?" other guests disapproved.

"Everyone saw how this female employee apologized to her, but she didn't even bother to say sorry!"

"That's right! She has such a narrow-minded and petty attitude!"

The female staff member stood there, shoulders hunched, quietly shedding tears.

"If you think our hotel's service is subpar, you can complain about her, but to accuse her of theft, at the very least, you should apologize to her," Evelyn said stubbornly, her eyes filled with coldness.

"Apologize to her? I'm here spending money, and you want me to apologize to a server? You are a terrible manager!" Debra angrily exclaimed, about to explode, but then she heard the sound of something falling to the ground--

The female staff member had suddenly collapsed stiffly to the ground, her eyes rolling back as she spasmed and convulsed!

Everyone, including Debra, was stunned, except for Evelyn, who immediately reacted by kneeling beside the female staff member.

She quickly unfastened the girl's belt and black vest, ensuring her airway remained clear.

At this moment, the girl's mouth began foaming!

"It's epilepsy. William! Call an ambulance!" Evelyn instructed, tilting the girl's head to the side to prevent her from choking on her secretions.
"I called an ambulance, and it arrived immediately!" A deep and resonant voice came from behind Evelyn. She turned abruptly and saw Edward standing there, dressed impeccably in a suit. His handsome and noble demeanor commanded attention.

Their eyes met, and time seemed to freeze in that instant. Their breaths were suspended.

"It's Mr. Wellington! He really is Mr. Wellington!" someone recognized him.

"Edward..." Debra was taken aback by Edward's sudden appearance and felt panicked. Despite Tiffany's constant insults about him being a bastard, she still feared Edward. But Edward was now the true head of the Wellington family.

"Bart, take Ms. Wellington away quickly," Edward ordered expressionlessly.

At this point, someone had secretly started taking photos and videos. If this continued, Debra would bring shame to the Wellington family.

Bart didn't dare hesitate and quickly approached to pull the bewildered Debra away.

Evelyn sneered inwardly and withdrew her icy gaze.

Yes, this was the real Edward, decisive and ruthless. He wouldn't consider who was right or wrong; he only considered the immediate interests and the reputation of the Wellington family.

"Oh no! She's biting her tongue!" William exclaimed in alarm.

Evelyn was shocked and, in a moment of desperation, she even stuck her wrist into the girl's mouth!

The girl viciously bit down on her delicate and fair wrist, and a sharp pain instantly spread throughout her body. But she didn't even flinch, enduring the pain.

"You...!" Edward's body trembled, wanting to stop her, but it was already too late.

He watched helplessly as she used her own body to save the patient. Her petite and delicate frame concealed an unwavering determination and kindness.

This scene brought a long-lost shock to Edward.

Suddenly, the image of Elaine's frail figure appeared in his mind.

On the battlefield that year, Elaine also placed his severely injured body on a straw mat and dragged him a long way with a hemp rope...

"Don't despair! We can both survive! We will definitely survive!"

Later, the camp was in chaos, and he couldn't find Elaine, but he discovered that hemp rope soaked in blood. He didn't know how her hands were now.

Thinking of this, Edward clenched his numb fingertips, feeling a suffocating sensation in his chest as if it were filled with cotton.

Soon, the ambulance arrived, and the waitress was taken into the vehicle.

Evelyn was worried about her, so she asked William to accompany her to the hospital.
"Miss, luckily, you performed first aid for her and fought for a crucial time for us. Otherwise, the patient could have been in great danger!" the medical staff praised.

"It's good that she's okay," Evelyn replied with a faint smile.

She returned to the hotel, where the lobby manager had already sorted things out, and the crowd had dispersed.

Evelyn looked at the deep teeth marks and bloodstains on her right wrist and suddenly felt the pain. She headed towards the hotel's medical room.

"Lily."

Startled, she turned around, only to find Edward already chasing after her with a gloomy expression.

They were too close, almost being able to feel each other's breath.

With another half-step forward, they could be tightly pressed against each other.

For a moment, Evelyn hesitated. She was about to take a step back, but Edward suddenly grabbed her arm and pulled her forward.

The next second, she crashed into his arms, like hitting a warm wall that made her heart tremble.

Did this man wear a bulletproof vest under his shirt? Why was he so hard?

"Edward, please let go of me in public," Evelyn's breathing became erratic. She struggled to break free but couldn't.

"Where have you been these past few days? Why did you disappear without reason?" Edward locked his gaze onto her and hugged her tightly.

"Heh, it has nothing to do with you. Who are you to me?" Evelyn chuckled. This man still had such a self-righteous attitude, even until now. "I flew to the sky and swam in the sea. It's normal for you not to find me."

"Lily, come with me," Edward's eyes darkened, his voice low and icy.

"Edward, let go of me and leave here immediately!" Evelyn gritted her teeth and finally lost her patience. "If you don't leave, I'll call the security!"

Annoyance surged up within Edward as he glared at her fiercely.

Did this woman actually want to drive him away now? Did she forget how tenderly she used to please him?

His desire to win, possess, and various other desires were instantly ignited.

"Even if you call Landon here, it won't stop me from taking you away today!"
