Chapter 462 Return Trip Blocked, Chaotic Situation

Eric rushed Edward to the top hospital in the capital of Torontow as fast as he could.

Edward was in critical condition due to severe injuries and excessive blood loss.

Eric had hardly ever cried since he was a child, but seeing Edward's pale face, lying on the bed being pushed into the emergency room by medical staff, he couldn't help but shed tears, which he quickly wiped away.

"Mr. Clark."

A clear voice came from behind, and Eric turned around in confusion.

"You are that..."

He vaguely remembered that the man in front of him was the one Evelyn had brought to the high-end cocktail party at the Wellington Group hotel.

"Adrian, you can call me Mr. Mays."

Before he finished speaking, Adrian, dressed in surgical scrubs, brushed past Eric, saying in a steady voice, "Leave your friend's injuries to me."

"You? You're a doctor?" Eric stared at him in shock, "Weren't you in Mugden? How did you suddenly appear here?"

"Landon sent me."

Mentioning Landon, the man he both loved and hated, Adrian's handsome brows furrowed, and his heart pounded, "He didn't give me specifics, just said that what he was doing this time was extremely dangerous and might require medical assistance. So I was already waiting at this hospital last night."As he spoke, Adrian chuckled arrogantly, "I was about to leave, but it's a good thing I didn't. Without me, it wouldn't work, huh."

Landon had treated him so poorly, yet with just one call, he still came to help.

Adrian was a well-known figure abroad, with many men pursuing him fervently.

But when it came to Landon, he was hopelessly entangled in this relationship, unable to extricate himself.

Just as Adrian was about to enter the emergency room, Eric shouted, "Are you reliable? Edward's life is in your hands!"

Adrian didn't look back, only replied faintly, "There are other skilled doctors in the world besides White God."

On the other side.

Tonight's operation had wiped out the arms dealers on South Island, thoroughly offending the big bosses of Torontow's lucrative industry chain.

Although Lloyd was captured, the military and police in Torontow had already caught wind of it and were taking action. They were now trapped within the country, unable to return to Mugden.

Not to mention, taking Lloyd back alive.

Moreover, the lack of an extradition treaty between Mugden and Torontow made it impossible for Peter to get help from the domestic police, even if he applied to his superiors in Mugden.

The situation had become very tricky!

Seeing that they couldn't return to Mugden anytime soon, Evelyn wasn't in a hurry. After leaving the South Island, she drove straight to the hospital, prepared to stay by Edward's side without rest.

Ulysses was in one car with the tightly bound Lloyd, while Evelyn and Landon were in another.

On the way, she tightly held Landon's hand, and Landon placed her cold hand on his warm chest, anxiously gazing at her pale face due to excessive tension.

He felt his palm sweating, as if holding a piece of ice, unable to dispel her chill.

"Evelyn," Landon called her softly.

She looked up blankly, her red, swollen eyes filled with tears, staring at him dazedly.

She was alive, but her soul seemed to have gone to Edward's side, leaving this beautiful body.

Landon sighed deeply, unbuttoned his shirt, and took out a silver cross he had worn for years.

"When Edward wakes up, give this to him."

He placed the necklace in Evelyn's palm and closed her fingers around it.

"Landon, this, what is this?" Her eyes widened in surprise.

"This necklace isn't worth much, but it holds great significance for me. I've worn it for over ten years, and during those years, it has protected me in dangerous situations and helped me avoid great troubles."

Landon smiled bitterly, but his gaze was intense, "At this point, there's nothing more I can do. It's up to fate and Edward's strength to pull through."

"All I can do is pray sincerely for him and hope for a miracle. Evelyn, I hope you won't laugh at me."

Evelyn sniffled, unable to hold back her tears, and threw herself into Landon's arms, crying.

"Landon, thank you, thank you."

"Evelyn, if you thank me again, I'll be mad at you." Landon teased her affectionately.

Evelyn, overwhelmed with emotions, cried even harder.

"Evelyn, when Edward wakes up, treat him well. At the very least, don't give him a hard time anymore, don't upset him."

Landon gently stroked her hair, sighing, "He gave his all for you. If it were me, I might not have been able to do what he did."

Evelyn's mind flashed back to the moment Edward shielded her, taking an arrow for her.

"Evelyn, don't cry."

She closed her eyes tightly, tears streaming down her face.

The Taylor family arrived at the hospital and entered the underground parking lot.

At this moment, Eric was already there waiting for them.

As soon as Evelyn got out of the car, she anxiously ran to him. "How is Edward?"

Eric said, "He's in surgery now, and the one operating on him is someone you know."

"Someone I know, Adrian?" Evelyn, sharp as ever, quickly understood.

She turned to look at Landon.

Landon met her gaze calmly, his emotions unreadable.

"Yes, it's been almost three hours."

Eric, overly worried, couldn't help but say, "Evelyn, I heard this Mr. Mays is a relative of Donna's. Is this distant relative reliable? He doesn't seem very dependable to me."

"If it doesn't work, you should step in. Didn't you operate on Edward's head before?"

Evelyn remained silent.

Ulysses, with a cigarette between his fingers, resting on the car window, couldn't help but laugh.
