Chapter 26 Let's Start the Divorce Proceedings Today!
Just as Edward finished speaking, a scream sounded from the restaurant.
Eric suddenly remembered that the woman he brought here couldn't be trusted to behave. Putting a rabbit and a wolf together in a cage is like placing a disaster waiting to happen!
"I'll talk to you later. There's a conflict here! Anyway, today is not possible. Let's meet tomorrow!" Eric was about to hang up when Edward's voice pierced his ears like a sharp blade.
"Eric, where are you?"
At this moment, another piercing scream came, even more ear-splitting than before!
"At the restaurant in the KS World Hotel!"
Eric rushed back to the restaurant in a hurry.
He opened the door, and the scene inside instantly overturned his perception.
Eric saw his delicate ex-sister-in-law holding Amy's hair with her left hand, forcefully pushing her head down onto the table, and her right hand shackling Amy's wrists, rendering her completely immobile!
This was so thrilling! It was like watching a badass female police officer arresting a criminal!
Eric had been worried that his ex-sister-in-law would be bullied, but it seemed he was worried for nothing.
So, he crossed his arms and laughed while watching them.
"I'm going to complain about you... I'm going to sue you! I'm going to make sure you can't live a comfortable life in Mugden!" Amy's face was deformed from the pressure pressed against the table, but she continued to threaten with gritted teeth.
"Well, you better hurry then. Otherwise, I'll slap your face so hard that the imprint won't be visible anymore, and your disability won't even be recognized."
Evelyn remained expressionless the entire time. If it weren't for Amy's attempt to attack her, Evelyn felt that even brushing against Amy would dirty her hands.
Upon seeing Eric return, Amy immediately cried out for help, "Mr. Clark...Mr. Clark, save me!"
"Alright, alright, that's enough..." Eric came over and pulled Evelyn away. His tone did not hint at reprimand; he was simply trying to pacify the situation.
He didn't find the scene exaggerated. After all, there had been instances where four women fought on the street for him.
Especially since Lily was Edward's ex-wife, if this matter were to spread, it could embarrass Edward.
"Mr. Clark! What do you mean by 'that's enough'? This wretched woman hit me!"
"She slapped me, pulled my hair, and made me look like this. You have to help me get justice!" Amy's disheveled hair made her look furious.
Evelyn calmly took a seat on a chair, crossing her long legs wrapped in trousers, observing the distressed woman like a monkey.
Eric's appreciative gaze followed her legs all the way down, finally landing on her feet, which were adorned with high heels. They were delicate and round, with beautifully shaped ankles.
He had a peculiar fetish. Perhaps he had seen enough pretty faces, but Eric often looked at a woman's feet first.
Evelyn's feet were truly his dream feet; they were so beautiful! How could her feet be so gorgeous?
He was in love!
"Ms. Brown hit you. It must be because you provoked her, right?" Eric stared directly at Evelyn as he asked.
"I-I...apologize? Why should I?" Amy's anger swelled, her face turning red.
"You like me, Ms. Brown doesn't, so it definitely couldn't be her causing trouble for you," Eric deduced naturally.
Evelyn raised an eyebrow and thought, 'This Mr. Clark is quite reasonable. He's much better than that troublesome brother, Edward.'
"Mr. Clark, how can you treat me like this? I'm your girlfriend!"
Amy ran over, crying and wanting to hug Eric, but he moved back with disgust, causing her to miss and almost fall.
"Girlfriend? Who said that?"
Eric's eyes and demeanor suddenly turned icy, leaving Amy scared and speechless.
"Once you've apologized, you better get lost. Don't let me see you again."
Who in Mugden didn't know Eric's temper? When he smiled, anything was fine. But when he didn't, no one dared provoke him!
"I-I'm sorry!"
Amy gritted her teeth and reluctantly admitted her mistake, covering her face and running away.
"I apologize for her behavior, Ms. Brown. I hope you weren't too embarrassed." Eric immediately smiled again, his expression a bit ridiculous.
"Mr. Clark didn't make her apologize to me? We're even now."
Evelyn looked at her wristwatch and stood up. "I need to return to work. Please take care of yourself, Mr. Clark."
Eric was a watch collector and immediately noticed the RICHARD MILLE watch on her wrist, a global limited edition, no less!
Landon really spoiled her. Eric probably wouldn't be willing to give her such an expensive gift.
Most importantly, Lily was wearing such a nice watch while working. She really was a country girl who didn't know the value of things!
"Ms. Brown, what time do you get off work? I'll come pick you up tonight," Eric eagerly caught up with her.
"Don't wait, you won't be able to wait," Evelyn directly rejected him, a smile not reaching her eyes. "I won't have dinner with you."
Eric clicked his tongue. "Why are you so heartless? Just because last time I helped you deal with Dick at the Alahle Club, you can't have a meal with me out of gratitude?"
Evelyn mockingly laughed. "If I remember correctly, it was Edward who resolved the situation for me. You secretly stole his credit. That's not very fair, is it?"
"Ms. Brown, did I offend you? Why can't you give me a chance?"
Eric looked at her intently, his narrowed eyes filled with affection. "Is it because you have Landon? Does Landon dare openly declare you as his girlfriend? I do!"
"Mr. Clark, in love, there is no first come, first served, but there is still courtesy, righteousness, integrity, and honor."
With just a casual sentence, Eric felt as if he was nailed to a pillar of shame. His face turned pale instantly.
"I may not come from a noble background, but I have my pride. When I married Edward, my heart belonged only to him. But now, my boyfriend is the CEO of KnightSpear Group, Landon, and in my heart and my eyes, there is only Mr. Taylor."
"I don't mind eating simple meals, but I can't tolerate others sticking their knives and forks into my plate. Please, Mr. Clark, pay attention to your words and actions and stop disturbing my life. That's it."
When Evelyn spoke these words, the anguish in her heart was intense.
Even Eric could see that she was trying hard to suppress her anger and heartache. His gaze changed slightly.
Evelyn took a deep breath, lifted her chin slightly, armed herself again, and then turned to leave.
Suddenly, she abruptly stopped in her tracks, her pupils shrinking.
"Edward?" Eric was shocked.
Was he really here so quickly, coming on an aircraft carrier?
At this moment, Edward stood at the entrance of the restaurant like a sharp, straight sword, exuding countless chills from his tall and imposing figure.
The hotel, which was already running the air conditioning at full blast, suddenly felt like an ice cave.
Evelyn met Edward's piercing gaze, which was too intense.
She had to admit, his beautiful eyes were truly mesmerizing. The corners were slightly upturned, the iris black and white, and a hint of redness in the sharpness. Once upon a time, they made her fantasize and unable to escape.
But for the past three years, those eyes had only shown indifference towards her, never smiling, let alone expressing deep affection.
"She was too obsessed, obsessed with making him fall in love with her. In the end, Evelyn poured her heart and soul into it, but only she was moved.
Edward stepped closer to her, his eyes slightly narrowed.
When he heard Lily and Eric were together, he immediately canceled his afternoon engagement and drove over alone.
Edward happened to overhear the conversation where Lily scolded Eric, and his heart felt as if it had been emptied. An indescribable sense of emptiness filled his entire chest.
As a result, an unnamed anger started to burn. Edward was not someone who easily lost his temper, but when facing Lily, he couldn't control his emotions!
"Why are you here?" Edward stared at Evelyn's face.
"Just working." She turned her face, unwilling to say more.
"Don't you have any memory? I said until the divorce proceedings are over, we are still married in name, and you are still part of the Wellington family.
"You know that the Wellington Group and the KnightSpear Group are enemies, and yet you work at a hotel under the KnightSpear Group. What were you thinking? Do you want to anger me, disgust me, and slap my face?" Edward took a deep breath, his forehead veins bulging.
Eric suddenly became a little anxious and was about to persuade them when the woman softly said, "Oh, so that's what you think."
Evelyn slowly shifted her indifferent gaze back to Edward's handsome face. "If that's the case, then let's just go through with the divorce proceedings today.
"So that you won't act like a devil seeking revenge, lingering around, and giving me a sinister look whenever you see me."
"Lily!" Edward suddenly frowned.
"You didn't bring your identification, did you? Let Bart bring it for you. I have it on me. I think about it every day, and I'll need it today.
Evelyn's eyes contained a mocking smile without the slightest trace of nostalgia. She swiftly passed by Edward.
His eyes turned red in an instant.
Edward forcefully grabbed her slender arm, his grip so tight it was frightening as if he was afraid she would run away and he would never be able to catch her again.
But the next second, she let out a cry of pain.
"Uh!"
Evelyn suddenly felt intense pain, sweat appearing on her forehead.
Edward froze, his whole body stiffening, his heart pounding.
He had actually dislocated Evelyn's arm!
