Chapter 114 There Was Actually a Car Accident!

'I wish I could be BOBO, Aunt Susan's pet, and tear Edward apart! Three years of marriage, separate rooms, and he never even held my hand. Now divorced, he's all over me, and even BOBO wouldn't want to chew on him.'

Edward felt his heart crack.

"Edward!"

A Porsche pulled up, and Bart jumped out in a hurry.

"Edward, are you nuts?! After a serious car accident, you should be at the hospital! You're not taking care of yourself!"

"It's fine."

Edward forced his eyes open but still couldn't see Evelyn clearly. "You're the crazy one."

Evelyn was shocked and frozen.

She finally understood why he was late, seemed off, and couldn't hold a pen.

'He was in a car accident!'

"Edward, you need to go to the hospital! Delaying treatment could paralyze you!" Evelyn's eyes widened, her heart tight.

Edward pressed his lips together and said in a deep voice, "Haven't you been waiting for this? If I go to the hospital, the divorce will be delayed. Would you wait?"

Evelyn was stunned, then smiled coldly. "Of course not. So, thanks, I guess."

"Evelyn!" Hearing the call, Evelyn turned around.

Two black luxury cars were parked side by side. Landon and Simon, in sharp suits, stood there. Simon held a bouquet of bright roses, smiling.

"Landon! Simon!" Evelyn ran to them, eyes full of joy.

Edward's heart felt soaked in bitterness.

He used to wait outside the Taylor family's door, feeling utterly worthless, while they enjoyed family time inside.

He didn't know whether to hate himself for being too stupid or to hate Evelyn for deceiving him.

"Why are you here?"

Evelyn held up Landon's bandaged hand, concerned. "Landon, you should be resting. Why did you come?"

"I'm fine now."

Landon wrapped his other arm around Evelyn's waist, eyes gentle. "Today is important for you and us. We missed your wedding, but we had to be here now."

"Landon." Evelyn's nose tingled, heart moved.

"Congrats, Evelyn! Cheers to Evelyn! Free from the scumbag, now a queen!" Simon cheerfully handed her the roses.

"Thanks, Simon!" Evelyn took the flowers, inhaling their fragrance.

Simon's loud voice made "scumbag" echo clearly.

Edward's face darkened like a storm.

"Evelyn!" From another luxury car, Donna, Joyce, and Susan got out, smiling and surrounding Evelyn.

"Why are you all here?" Evelyn was overjoyed, on the verge of tears.

"Of course, we came! We care about you!" Susan hugged her.

"Evelyn, Charlie wanted to come too, but it would have caused a big commotion," Donna explained.

"I understand." Evelyn smiled.

Edward watched as Evelyn was surrounded by her loving family, his heart filled with confusion and torment.

For the past three years, he hadn't given her even a fraction of this love. But why did she stay, enduring his coldness and cruelty?

He was desperate for answers, almost to the point of madness.

"Wow! It's Joyce, the retired actress!"

Bart gawked at the still-gorgeous Joyce, "I want her autograph! My mom's a huge fan!"

Edward shot him a cold look. "Back to the office!"

But then Edward couldn't hold on any longer and fainted.

"Edward!"

When he woke up, he was in a hospital bed.

"Evelyn." Her name was the first thing he said.

"You sprained your right wrist and have a mild concussion with some blood clots, but it's not serious."

Evelyn stood by the window, her silhouette cold and beautiful against the light.

While Edward was out, Bart had told her everything about the car accident.

Bart said Edward hadn't slept all night, and when he found Edward in the morning, the room was filled with smoke.

"Edward probably didn't rest well last night, or maybe his head condition affected his driving."

Evelyn knew how bad Edward's headaches were. He rarely drove because of them.

'Not sleeping, smoking heavily, and not going to the hospital despite being injured—Edward, who are you trying to fool? Nicole might buy it, but I won't!'

Evelyn's eyes were disdainful, her lips curling coldly. "Let him rest. I'm leaving."

She walked towards the door without looking back.

"Evelyn! Stop!"

Seeing her not stopping, Edward got anxious and got up to chase her.

Just as Evelyn's hand touched the doorknob, Edward pressed against her, his strong arms supporting the door, trapping her in his shadow.

"Edward! Are you crazy? What do you want?" Evelyn was both shocked and angry.

"Give me an answer, and I'll let you go."

Edward stared at her, his voice slightly hoarse. "Why did you marry me back then?"

"Why does there have to be a reason?"

Evelyn was about to kick him when Edward pinned her leg with his knee, immobilizing her. She could only bite her lip in frustration.

She had some skills, but against Edward, she was powerless!

"Evelyn, I just want to hear the truth. Is it that hard?"

"My brain must have been damaged, okay?! Get off me! I'll call for help!"

Edward remained unmoved, clearly dissatisfied with her answer.

At that moment, the door suddenly opened from the outside.

In an instant, Evelyn was thrown into Edward's arms.

Edward quickly wrapped his arms around her waist, his palm pressing against her flat stomach.

Her waistline was even more perfect than he had imagined, and Edward's Adam's apple bobbed, a dark fire igniting within him.

Evelyn's breathing became erratic, a tingling sensation spreading from her waist throughout her body.

"Edward! Mrs. Wellington."

Bart was dumbfounded, unable to process what was happening.

Evelyn took the chance to break free from Edward's grasp, trying to stomp on his foot with her sharp high heel, but Edward dodged quickly.

She didn't succeed but managed to escape, disappearing from the hospital room.

"Edward, Mrs. Wellington ran away. Should we go after her?" Bart nervously swallowed.

Edward's eyes looked like a killer's.

'Am I interrupting at the wrong time?'

"Chase?" Edward clenched his fists, his eyes narrowing in anger. "Go back to HR and sign the papers. Your bonus is gone!"
