Chapter 230 Why Should I Love You?

The whole room went dead quiet, then exploded with shouts. "Alexa? Evelyn is Alexa?"

Edward's brain just flatlined for a few seconds, like his very soul was shaking and shattering into a million pieces floating in space. He felt weak and light all over.

'Evelyn is Alexa, the big shot in the jewelry world!'

'So, this whole time, she’s been watching me make a fool of myself. Watching me bust my butt trying to meet Alexa, only to get shut down and humiliated. She must’ve been loving it, secretly laughing her head off!'

Edward was breathing hard, his lips trembling, eyes red with either rage or shock.

"Evelyn, you lied to me again, you actually lied to me again!" he muttered.

She had this insane talent, but she kept it hidden from him, never letting on.

Three years of marriage, and she ditched her legendary status to just hang out by his side, cooking and stuff.

Why’d she lower herself like that? Was she mocking his cluelessness in some twisted way?

Edward gritted his teeth, his jaw aching, and his heart hurt, making him clutch his chest.

'Is it fun to mess with me like this, Evelyn? You, who’s never been straight with me for a single day, how can you expect me to fall in love with you?' he thought.

"Alexa? Evelyn from the Taylor family is actually Alexa? This is insane!"

"Could it be fake?"

"A diamond necklace can be faked, but can a person be faked? With Sliva here, it's gotta be real! No way it’s fake!"

The usually uptight crowd didn’t care about their image anymore. They all whipped out their phones and started snapping pics of Evelyn!

A real Alexa in the flesh, if they didn’t get a few shots to brag about, tonight would be a total waste.

Gilbert quietly watched Evelyn, who was now the center of attention, gently adjusted his glasses, and his eyes showed a mix of indulgence and amusement.

No other woman could give him such a rush, except Evelyn.

Only Evelyn made him feel that love, as a game, wasn’t so boring and silly.

The scene got kinda chaotic.

Everyone wanted to get closer to the goddess, crowding around Evelyn tighter and tighter.

Gilbert frowned, sensing that Evelyn might be in danger.

So he stood up, ready to go help her out when a cold gust of wind blew past him out of nowhere.

Gilbert quickly looked up and saw Edward striding over, pushing through the crowd and forcing his tall frame into the center.

He clenched his fingers so tight it hurt, his gaze sharp like an eagle's claw, wishing he could rip Edward to shreds.

Evelyn was shocked to see Edward suddenly pop up in front of her, acting like her personal bodyguard.

"What are you doing?" she snapped.

"There are too many people, I'm worried you'll get hurt," Edward said without thinking, his back to her.

"William's right behind, and KS WORLD's security is top-notch. This little crowd is totally under control. No need for you to play the hero." Evelyn sneered, hating his fake hero act.

"Evelyn, you lied to me again." Edward turned his eyes slowly, speaking in a trembling voice only they could hear, "Got anything to say about your deception?"

Evelyn laughed mockingly, "Suffered a lot from my lies? Don't worry, you'll get used to it."

Edward took a deep breath, coughing lightly at her words.

It wasn't until William sent in a bunch of bodyguards to keep things in check that the chaos caused by Alexa started to die down.

"You're Alexa, how could you be Alexa?" Ada walked up to Evelyn, covering her mouth, tears of excitement welling up, speaking incoherently.

"I don't intentionally hide my identity. It's just that these honors are external to me. I simply love designing jewelry and don't want too much attention." Evelyn's attitude towards Ada was as gentle as ever, "I know you like me very much. To receive your and everyone's affection is my greatest honor."

'Such grace, such poise!'

"Sorry, Ms. Taylor, I mean Alexa. Please forgive my previous rudeness." Ada's throat was bitter with regret. Thinking of her previous cold words and neglectful attitude towards her, she wished she could atone!

"I am both Alexa and the general manager of KS WORLD. My other identity cannot make up for the hotel's failure in confidentiality. So I never blamed you, and you don't need to feel guilty." Evelyn said.

At this moment, Evelyn seemed like a mirror reflecting true nature, revealing the true colors of Tiffany and Debra.

"'Drops of God' is one of Alexa's lesser-known private collections, almost never publicly exhibited. Besides Alexa, no one else in the world owns it."

Sliva's sharp gaze pierced straight at Debra and she said, "So there's no doubt that the one Miss Wellington gave to Ms. Smith is a counterfeit. Daring to counterfeit Alexa's work is a serious infringement on Alexa's reputation and creative rights. Alexa has insured each of her works for a high amount. About the consequences and the severity of the punishment, Miss Wellington, you're not ignorant of the law, are you?"
