Chapter 277 Want to Invite Sharon to Come Out
Edward's heart was pounding like crazy as he looked at Evelyn with a tenderness he'd never felt before.
But her sharp, cold words cut through him like a knife, making his loving gaze waver for a second.
When Evelyn showed up, Betty had a million questions but didn't know where to start, her face a mix of emotions.
"Edward, what are you doing here?" Evelyn asked, her voice icy.
Seeing her look at him like she didn't care, like their last life-and-death moment meant nothing, Edward felt a stab of pain but still answered with all the love he had, "I came to find you."
"Cut the crap. Do you even believe yourself?" Evelyn's lips twisted into a cold smile, and she didn't buy it for a second.
Edward stayed silent.
"Alright, you've seen her. Now get out," Betty snapped, clearly pissed off.
"I'm not leaving," Edward's eyes were firm, his stance unyielding.
"Do I have to throw you out myself?" Betty, usually the ice queen, would go off when someone messed with her loved ones, just like Evelyn.
"Evelyn." Ignoring Betty, Edward looked at Evelyn with pleading eyes, "I need to talk to you."
"Ok, follow me upstairs," Evelyn said coldly and turned to leave.
Edward took a deep breath, unable to hide his happiness, and followed her without a word.
Betty didn't stop him but shot daggers at Bart, "Wait outside. Edward and his crew aren't allowed in!"
Edward quickly caught up with Evelyn, but she never looked back at him, not giving him a single glance.
But it didn't matter.
Her letting him stay today meant his efforts were paying off. Even if it was a little, he'd take any chance he could get!
After three years of marriage, he let her go. Now, he was determined to win her back!
As they reached the studio door, Evelyn suddenly stopped but didn't turn around.
She opened the door and said, "Don't overthink it. I let you come because I know you. If I didn't, you wouldn't leave Betty alone. I just don't want to trouble her."
Edward looked at Evelyn's lonely back, his face darkening.
She brought him into the studio because Joyce's birthday was coming up. She had a lot to handle at the hotel during the day and only had time to make clothes at Betty's in the evening, so she was racing against the clock.
Evelyn held a pin in her lips, sewing some decorations onto a dress, and asked, "How have you been lately?"
"Alright," Edward replied, his voice rough.
"Okay." She kept working, glancing at Edward standing there like a statue, "Didn't you say you had something to tell me? Go ahead."
Edward was silent for a moment.
"Why don't you speak? You better not be lying to me. You better actually have something to say," she said urgently.
Edward felt his breath hitch, feeling like if he didn't speak up, he'd be kicked out. He quickly blurted, "Actually, I came to ask Betty about someone."
"Who?" Evelyn asked.
"Sharon."
Evelyn stayed calm, but her fingers trembled slightly, "Sharon? The internationally renowned fashion designer? Why are you asking about her?"
"I want to invite her to design a dress for me," Edward said seriously.
"She's not available. Give up," Evelyn lowered her eyes, sneering inwardly.
'Edward wanted Alexa to design jewelry before, and now he wants Sharon to design clothes for him. He really thinks highly of himself. Does he think the whole world revolves around him? Is he the sun or something?' she thought.
Edward frowned slightly, "Why are you so sure? Do you know her?"
"Why do you want her to make clothes?" Evelyn didn't answer directly but cleverly asked back.
"I have an elder's birthday coming up, and I want Sharon to design a dress as a gift," Edward said, somewhat evasively, not wanting to tell Evelyn about the dress for Joyce, to surprise her later.
Evelyn sneered, "I almost forgot. This weekend is Mrs. Wellington's birthday. I guess you want to impress Patrick and present a gift to your stepmother? How thoughtful."
"Evelyn," Edward frowned, showing some anger.
It wasn't that he couldn't stand her teasing, but he didn't like being misunderstood!
"When you contact Sharon, don't tell her you're preparing a gift for Tiffany. She might curse you out." Evelyn, holding back her anger, turned away, "Anything else? If not, leave now. I need to keep working. You're in my way."
Suddenly, distracted, she pricked her finger with the needle and let out a small cry.
"What happened? Are you hurt?" Edward quickly strode to her side, anxiously grabbing her delicate hand.
Her finger was indeed pricked, a drop of blood oozing out.
Edward frowned deeply, as if the needle had pricked his heart, and he asked with concern, "Does it hurt?"
"Let go," Evelyn tried to pull her slender hand from his grasp, but it was useless.
Evelyn panicked, pulling her hand away.
As she stepped back, Edward reached out, wrapping his arm around her waist, and pulled her into his embrace!
"Edward! What are you doing?" Evelyn's eyes flashed with panic.
Edward gazed into her eyes, his eyes shining like stars, their bodies transmitting their strong heartbeats and intense heat.
"Evelyn, I want to kiss you," he said openly, his eyes full of desire and honesty.
Evelyn's heart tightened, and she gritted her teeth, "No way."
The sudden kiss silenced her, stopping her words and prying open her teeth.
Then it deepened, and deepened.
