Chapter 615 Evelyn and Edward's Dinner Party

Randy's case was a victory, but Evelyn and Edward knew life wasn't some wish-fulfillment story. Even with their exceptional abilities, taking down Helen and Randy from the deeply-rooted Alexander Group had drained them. But the results were good—all the effort was worth it.

Tonight, Evelyn and Edward were in great spirits. They gave May the evening off and planned to cook dinner themselves to celebrate.

"Mr. Wellington, Mrs. Wellington, you always give me time off and pay me so well. I feel embarrassed, like I'm making easy money." May stood at the kitchen door, watching Edward skillfully prep ingredients for Evelyn. She was beaming with happiness. "Mr. Wellington, your knife skills are amazing!"

"Mrs. Wellington trained me well." Edward was chopping vegetables while stealing glances at Evelyn as she worked the wok, his eyes full of tenderness.

"Edward, how many times have I told you to focus when you're cutting?" Evelyn's wok technique was perfect.

Edward quickly looked back at his cutting board and focused on the vegetables. May covered her mouth, giggling.

"May, we wanted you to stay for dinner, but since you said you're meeting friends, we won't keep you." Evelyn turned around with a bright smile. "Have fun!"

After May left, Evelyn plated the finished dishes and asked curiously, "Where's Bart today? Didn't he say he'd join us for the celebration dinner?"

"He hasn't been around the last three or four evenings." Edward helped carry the dishes, looking both amused and exasperated. "Ever since Anna cleared your name at the police station, Bart's been going on about it in my ear every day. I'm grateful, but if I hear it much longer, I'll get a headache."

"Ah... I see." Evelyn smiled knowingly.

"I'll call him to come back now." Edward had just picked up his phone when Evelyn stopped him. "No need. I know where Bart is. Let him be."

The clueless guy looked confused. "Where did he go?"

"Hehe... silly." Evelyn picked up a piece of beef and fed it to him. "Bart's spring is coming."

The moon rose above the willow trees. Bart stood alone outside Anna's old apartment complex in his suit, holding flowers in his left hand and a gift box in his right, gazing up at that bright window, his heart full of hesitation.

At that moment, Anna and Nyla were having dinner at home. The table had several tasty dishes and a cute cake. Today was her birthday, and with Randy about to face trial, this outcome was the best birthday gift.

As the mother and daughter were about to cut the cake, there was a knock at the door.

Anna opened it—it was their neighbor, Mica Smith.

"Mrs. Smith? You're out of the hospital! Are you feeling better?" Anna asked with concern.

"Anna, I need to tell you something." Mica looked serious. "When I came back just now, I saw some guy in a suit lurking around downstairs again."

"A man in a suit?" Anna was startled.

"Oh! I remember now! It's that punk I taught a lesson with my stick last time!"

Before she finished speaking, Anna's heart trembled. Without even changing her shoes, she rushed out the door.

...

Bart ultimately didn't dare to call. Just as he was turning around in defeat, ready to give in to his own cowardice—

"Bart!" The girl's sweet voice pierced his chest.

Bart spun around to see Anna running toward him in her bunny pajamas with her hair pinned up with a pencil. His pupils contracted, and ripples spread across his heart.

"Anna, good evening." His expression was dazed as he stiffly pushed the flowers and gift toward her. "Happy birthday!"

Anna's heart fluttered. She only took the flowers, recognizing the brand on the gift—it was too expensive. "Bart, thank you for the flowers, but I can't accept the gift. I know you're doing this to repay Ms. Taylor for me..."

"No," Bart could no longer hold back. With reddening eyes, he pulled her into his arms. The emptiness in his chest was instantly filled. "Everything I've done has nothing to do with Mr. Wellington or Mrs. Wellington."

Two hearts resonated strongly, nearly scattering the hyacinths in her arms.

"Bart..." Anna blushed, melting his heart completely.

"Everything I've done is just for you." Bart's warm breath brushed against her ear. An unprecedented impulse made him not want to let go. "Anna, I miss you, so I came to see you."

At home, delicious food and wine were on the table, and guests were arriving one by one. It was as lively as Christmas.

Evelyn was chatting with Molly and William in the living room. She had wanted to invite Landon and Mr. Mays, but when she called, Landon said he was busy. Yet she clearly heard Adrian's flirtatious voice: "Landon, my back hurts. Give me a massage..."

Evelyn: ...Looks like Landon really is busy.

Eric walked into the dining room and saw Edward wearing an apron. He burst out laughing. "Edward, you're so domestic now? Not only good in bed, but also good in the kitchen."

"Are you jealous?" Edward calmly wiped his hands.

"Of course not. I have a Michelin chef at home. Why would I suffer like this?" Eric said dismissively, but in his heart, he was wondering if he should learn a thing or two.

"You should add some spice tonight," Eric bumped his shoulder with a wicked grin. "Just wear the apron, nothing else. I guarantee your wife will be dying to have you!"

Heat rushed to Edward's face as he growled, "Get lost!"

In the living room, Molly presented a bouquet of lilies to Jennifer, her little face flushed. "Jennifer, you and Evelyn are both my idols. I want to be as brave as you someday!"

"Please don't!" the sisters said in unison.

Jennifer quickly explained, "Molly, I hope you never have to go through these things. Being well protected and not having to take risks—that's what we want to see."

Molly nodded adorably, looking confused. Jennifer couldn't help but cup her face and plant a firm kiss on her lips. "Mwah—!" Molly's face instantly turned bright red, while on the other side, Eric and William watched with tears in their eyes.

"Alright, everyone's here. Let's try Mr. Wellington's cooking!" Evelyn sweetly linked arms with Edward.

"Wow, Edward can cook, too? That's amazing!" Jennifer clapped.

"Edward is so great!" Molly clapped along.

William and Eric exchanged glances: Damn, Edward's setting the bar too high. Learning to cook needs to go on the agenda!

"Hey, Evelyn! Are you having dinner without us? So much for family!" With the commotion, Simon and Peter walked in.

Peter immediately spotted the delicate Molly on the sofa, his lips curling slightly. Eric instantly pulled Molly closer protectively.

"Clearly you've forgotten we exist!" Simon and Peter sighed dramatically.

Evelyn whispered to Edward, "Simon's a big eater. Do we have enough food?"

The man chuckled softly, wrapping his arm around her waist. "More than enough."
